This is really cool that you will be doing dark elves next. I'm currently doing some basic dark elves that is quite infantry heavy with a Dreadlord on dragon, which works at lgs fine since everyone is mostly new to the game. Also makes it easy to run an assassin (15 points for killing blow is pretty nice)

hey just wanted to say i really love the tournament overviews - not a ton of content for learning how to play competitive old world and so getting overviews like this help me to understand how you think of army composition and how stuff works in battle - please do more!

Excited to see what you come up with. Other than the standard dragon that is... Been playing around with beastmasters myself, as having multiple flying lords is quite strong while not beining dragons lol

Dark Elf player here. You may want some Harpies to help hunt warmachines and wizards. And they're dirt cheap (for elves) You might also want a unit of Cold One Knights, if only to project more threat onto the battlefield. Otherwise, your opponent might just bull rush your shades. It doesn't sound like you have other melee units, so you can put the Banner of Har Ganeth on them to make them extra-scary. For a sorceress on dragon, Illusion is also an option for the -1 to hit (with double dragon, you don't have the points to equip a strong magic weapon for spectral doppelganger).

I have played ~9 games with DE's before I brought a single dragon to my last game. I plopped my lvl 4 Battle on top of the dragon and kept my dreadlord in a unit of CoK's. I faced ogres (which granted, aren't very good.) I felt like this was the first easy-mode game of tOW I've played since release. Understand this wasn't a tournament list. I still brought a block of Witch Elves for core, and only fielded 1x13 shades & 2x5 Dark Riders. Witch Elves can do some work, but they will inevitably get wiped (which is no surprise to anyone here.) Double Dragon will just be stupid tough. It'd be perfect if it wasn't virtually impossible to fit an ogre blade/exec. axe on your dreadlord. I have yet to play in a tourney and I like my friends, so I won't be fielding double dragon anytime soon.

Name suggestion: Cloud Runners or Poison Cloud Runners

Characters on chariots are underrated I think. Tough (especially with the shield of Ghrond) lots of wounds and gets your combat Dreadlord into combat with lots of impact hits and strikes first.

Excited to see you play Dark Elves. I’ve been painting then up for a while now and just don’t know how to make use of them. In the few games I’ve had the cold one knights have been stellar (especially with Dark Magic to give them Frenzy and Hatred). But just don’t know where to go. Hope you can help give me some guidance

Correct, you cannot make two Flee moves with any given unit in the same phase. Evasive = FBIGO = a form of Flee move. What models do you use for those ratling guns btw? The ratling guns themselves don't look like the GW original, almost looks like they're rocket pods from a helicopter kit.

Also death hag with Rune of khaine and an ogre blade makes her witch elf unit un-chargable thanks to getting 5-7 hatred (all) ogre blade attacks at initiative 10

I've watched the rat project with interest! I would agree there is certainly a limit to how far you can take it competitively. A quick question re: evasive, FBIGO and swiftstride. Am i to understand that the swiftstride dice is being added added to both FBIGO and evasive in the Nottingham scene?

How are you kitbashing your shades? The double dragon scouting approach will catch people off guard and mess with their deployment for sure. I have heard good things about witch elf death stars lead by a hag with the ogre blade and rune of khaine. 1-2 units of harpies could be good to help redirect away from the dragons flanks.

I'm thinking Pegasus knights in units of 3 could be ok in lance formation. More than 5 models though seems not amazing.

What “gun thane” model is that from your last dwarf opponent? Looks amazing. Maybe a custom conversion?

Do you play on 48x72 or 42x60 tables?
