I don't usually change up my EDC but this year, though my EDC has changed a bunch. I started the year off with carrying a bugout and a griptilian in a rotation. I replaced both those in March with a Civivi Conspirator, which I carried every day up until Christmas day. I added around the first of December the Banaeret from Civivi. Woke up Christmas day, and my awesome wife had gotten me a new bugout, which will be in my EDC now for a while now. She got me the got the limited edition M4 with the jade G10 scales. So far, I love this knife, and I can't see replacing it anytime soon. Thanks for the awesome content Zac! Hope to add a full-size leatherman to my EDC this year to replace the Squirt I carry everyday thanks to you, it got me thinking about it. I used to carry a Wave years ago, but unfortunately, my job views it as a weapon, and I can't carry it in the building, but I can carry a box cutter go figure!
You asked for edc fixed blade recommendations and I always love to talk about the Rainier Knives Fastpak. It's made by a relative or friend of Bradford Knives but it's so small and light weight having a small fixed blade in pocket is amazing
Absolutely my top 3 edc fixed blades are as follows..... the tops street scalpel 2.0, white river m1 caper in dayglo g10 and artisan cutlery sea snake od green.... all affordable all fantastic to carry and use daily!
I often EDC an Ontario Rat 3. It’s thin enough that with a tech lock you can belt carry it and it conceals under your shirt. When I’m working on my farm I EDC a Buck 119. No hiding the buck but on my property it’s not an issue.
Bradford Guardian 3 is a fantastic EDC fixed blade, and the leather sheath is comfortable enough that I rarely notice it and I sit in my car for 8-12 hours a day and have a gut.
I love to EDC a fixed blade. I carry an Artisan Cutlery Sea Snake with an ulti-clip a majority of the time and mix in the MKM Mikro 2, and Makro 2. I also have the BladeHQ exclusive Kershaw Skyline fixed blade that I carry occasionally also with an ulti-clip. I carry in pocket and have a couple of pairs of Wolverine brand pants that have a really deep fifth pocket.
Love the description of the Gerber steel. :D I have carried a fixed-blade every day for a few years, and my favorite has been the Esee Izula with micarta scales. I made my own Kydex sheath with soft loops for horizontal carry and also worked out a way to keep a ferro rod tucked in there as well.
I'm gonna second this. Been carrying the Izula II for just under a year but without any scales. Recently started thinking about doing a paracord wrap for it though.
I would, but I gave up Instagram a while back. The sheath is not much to look at anyway: just a simple taco-style, folded Kydex with soft loops and the ferro rod held on with paracord and rangerbands.
great content. i edc Winkler Knives Blue Ridge Hunter Knife Sculpted Maple Wood Handle w/Brown Leather Sheath or Winkler Knives Blue Ridge Hunter Knife Black Micarta Handle w/Black Leather Sheath, depending on my belt color. i also carry a Chirs Reeve Titanium Umnumzaan.
The fixed blade I've been packing lately has been the Montana Knife Company Blackfoot. It has been a great addition to my EDC. Just the perfect size and blade thickness for just about everything I need to accomplish. Great video Zac!
I came across this brand not too long ago this year. I’ve been eyeing out their speedgoat fixed blade…plus i see the brand’s spokesperson going above and beyond in terms of customer transparency and service. How has your mileage been with your MKC knife so far?
@@jdlnz9484 I just got mine yesterday on the second and gave it much needed love by giving it a mirrored edge and oiled it but I’m here to say that the thickness behind the edge and the geometry of the blade is amazing! I look forward to years of work from this blade!
@@lonestardude6283 that sounds awesome! I know the company puts out a lot of content about their processes in creating their knives but i have yet to come across a proper review from a customer so I’m glad to hear good stuff! Might just bite the bullet and grab one myself
@@jdlnz9484 Fresh into this knife maker and I already decided if the time comes and the blackfoot gets lost or is worn out I'm reaching out to MKC to buy a replacement. Get one in your hand as I did and feel behind the edge then you'll understand what I'm saying. I feel this blade will be outstanding for my daily carry!
I'm a big fan of EDCing a fixed blade. I've been carrying the Esee Izula 2, w/ Micarta Handles in 1095, horizontal at 10-11ish o'clock, religiously for coming up on 3 years now. Sometimes, I'll switch the Izula 2 out for the Esee 3. The other fixed I'll carry every so often is the Extrema Ratio Satre w/ an UltiClip in pocket. I also wear a neck knife everyday. I wore the CRKT Minimalist Bowie version for the last year or more, but just recently I've been wearing the Ferrum Forge Lackey in 9cr18mov, made by Civivi. I'm really impressed with it, I just wish it still came with the leather scout loop, but apparently they only ship with the necklace now. Eventually I'll buy one and probably carry it at 10-11ish o'clock like the Izula 2.
yes, can only agree. was just going to type the same. in my pack or my pocket for nearly 2 years now. looking into a bestech heidi blacksmith #1 in m390 next with a dp steel and leather slip
And ANYTIME I go on any trips longer than say 30 miles from my house...I always carry a boot knife...depending on the weather and what I'm wearing will absolutely depend on what knife I carry.... but when all else is lost or gone..... that boot knife can make the difference between life and death
The boot knife video would be cool. As for pocket fixed blades I really like my Cold steel Mini Tac as well as the new Kizer begleiter fixed blade in D2.
For me it’s a utilitarian/practical reason i.e. having a fixed blade on me/knife on me as long as I have my boots on. I think most probably do it for a feeling of tactical advantage. I find it handy to have all the time and it is a nice piece of mind when you’re camping out with your motorcycle at truck stops😁
Love the content! As for daily fixed blades, I’ve tried a few and have settled on a White River small game knife. Under a 3 inch blade with a super comfy handle and it’s been great. It’s also the first knife my wife has loved. I can’t tell you the number of times she asks to borrow it for anything from package opening or food prep especially when traveling for the holidays and cooking in kitchens other than her own. I’ve been watching your videos for years and I love seeing the development and growth!
I wear gumboots on my property most the time, and actually carry a mora companion as a boot knife. Their surprisingly comfortable to carry, and so useful to always have on me!
The Banneret! I'm soooo glad you showed it some love! I think this knife slipped under the radar for many people. I picked up the micarta version and ended up gifting it to a friend, so I had to buy another one. I know you are a fan of micarta, as am I, and one of my favorite ways to mod micarta is to rub powdered graphite into the scales until it stops coming off. Gives it a great weathered look. I also took a fine grit 3M sanding sponge to the edges to take the weathering up another notch, and I'm so happy with t h e way it looks! Give it a shot!
My favorite EDC fixed blade is from TED, Tactical Everyday Dad, Warrior Edition. It’s similar to the Tac Horse but a little shorter. I can’t believe how comfortable the handle is for as blocky as it looks. Got to pick it up from the maker at the Rivers Edge Cutlery grand opening.
Hey Zac, something that has been on my mind that I think would be interesting for a video topic is knives with a chisel grind. You mentioned the cold steel in this video having one, and it'd be cool to see your spin and style on the topic. At any rate, happy new years!!
I edc a fixed blade most of the time, it’s intuitive. My usual suspects - Izula 2 (custom scales and Armatus sheath), Joey Roman edc tanto, Kizer Harpoon mini, MKM Makro; for jogger days - CRKT Persian w/Flytanium scales, CRKT Spew, Mkm Mikro. The Sei/2 Feathers is sold out but I enjoy the Boker/Midgards Little Dvalin as a chunky tanto edc.
I sometimes edc a Boker Little Dvalin, which actually has a similar profile to the TwoFeathers. I use an Ulticlip slim 3.3 at almost the highest setting so the sheath rides deep inside the pocket. Had to modify the sheath for this and 3d print a little helper for easy deployment, but like this it works great 😀. I don’t mind a handle sticking out of my pocket, but if it’s too obvious my coworkers might…
My number one EDC knife is my Cold Steel Voyager Tanto XL. I also tend to carry a Cold Steel SR-1 Lite Tanto. Fixed blades I mainly carry as a Neck Knife like my Cold Steel Mini-Leatherneck Dagger or one of my Spikes. Other blades I carry at different times are my CRKT Strafe, my Smith and Wesson 24/7 Tanto and my Hoffner Hand Spear.
Just a thought or two for other topics. What knives/pocket tools do various professions care as EDC; firefighters/rescue/police/service members, lumber jacks, farmers, etc. While surgeons might not carry knives in their scrubs what sort of scalpels do they use for surgery. I bet they have one or more types depending on what to cut heart vs eyeball.
Love a boot knife video. Looking forward to the edc fixed blade video as I'm a fixed blade guy I usually have my colonial mark 1 that I've hade for years that I picked up at a gun store its my one knife that's always with me
The two fixed blades that I have EDC carried are the White River ATK and the Benchmade 210 designed by Mike Snody. The 210 is more of a "Gentleman" carry. The ATK is just a great all around knife to have with you.
Not sure if I'm too late but I really enjoy carrying a ka bar wrench fixed blade. Handle looks like a crescent wrench and even when people see it on my belt they think it's a crescent wrench
My EDC fixed blade rotation goes: 1. Bark River North Country EDC (CPM 154) 2. Bark River Mini Bushcrafter (3V) 3. Bark River Mini Aurora (3V) 4. White River FireCraft 3.5 Pro (S35VN) 5. Bark River PSK (Elmax) 🤙🏻
BMKT EDC1 is super awesome fixed blade! plus the do production knives now in m390 I believe! its been my favorite scout carry. that and the BM hidden canyon with the leather scout carry sheathe- I'll wear that mountain biking and it doesn't even get in the way
The fixed blade I edc is the Boker Plus Little Dvalin (not the tanto)!! It’s truly the perfect budget edc fixed blade under $100. I have never seen a big RU-vidr review this knife would love to see you use and review it.
My EDC fix blade is the Böker Magnum Life Knife. Price varies from 32-45€ and it's legal to carry it with me here in germany. Pocket knife is a Moki MK-921 from Japan.
I pair a straight bladed karambit full tang with my pistol daily as a last ditch GTFO left side IWB plus harder use cutter - TOPS CUT4 is the beefy edition, something from Toor (Anaconda or Serpent) or one of the half dozen others I’ve picked up over the past few years, depending on blade shape I think I might need that day - LionSteel H1 has a sheepsfoot blade that is probably my favorite of that part of my collection.
Mkm makro 2 I carry it every day pretty much I’ve tired more than a few it it quickly has become my favorite I still rotate some of my others in like my picaroon jacktar and my tops trail seeker but I have I hard time not carrying the makro
Great video! I would definitely like to see a full video on boot knives. This has been a thought of mine for a while now. I really need a good boot knife I feel. The cold steel you have is on my list for sure. Keep up the great work!!
Another one..... in dj Khalid voice lol..... great video gentlemen!!!!!a couple that have really impressed me... the power pint from sog and the huntsman from sak....2 great small multi tools... that pack a serious punch
