Amazing! You are doing Gods work here! Our pump is on a 1974 465 Multifuel with an extremely rotten fuel system! Yikes! Sledge in the tank like molasses. And fuel filter canisters like I've never seen. All went to the hot tank. Working our way up the system.

Big mike saved me with the gasket the new rings and the missing nut and washer on my fuel lever. Very happy with it. Also hoping you get into alittle tuning. After my install of all the new parts im getting a hard start do to to little fuel (can tell because if I set the idle up or lightly hover over the pedal with my foot it fires right up) and need to do adjustments. But don’t wanna mess anything up lol

I have 5 PSI from lift pump. Still 5 PSI while cranking (new batteries) and truck will not start (booster pump not boosting I guess?) With one small quirt of starter fluid, it will fire and immediately builed 40 PSI (measured at secondary filter). Runs and drives great! Until you kill it. Kill the truck, it will not restart without a squirt of fluid. Even an immediate restart attempt wont work. I am guessing this is a leak or internal obstruction at booster? This started after a deep cleaning of the fuel system after sitting for 5 years. My injection pump and booster are NOS units installed and working great before sitting for 5 years.
@tacticalrepair
@tacticalrepair 7 месяцев назад
Hey, just seeing this comment now. Sorry about that. It does sound like you have an obstruction in a fuel line or filter housing somewhere. Possibly one of your pressure relief valves hanging open.

When putting it to the engine, what marks should be consider and aligned?

The appropriate mark for your engine model on the crank balancer, and the mark under the rectangular cover on top of the advance housing

love your videos man! so . question. and I haven't found a video with you talking about this. (if you have one let me know ) my truck just started doing a throttle surge going down the road. you can hold at half throttle and it will rev up take off, then throttle goes down and slows down, and does this constantly. and also massive high end power loss when it's doing this. and when idling it sometimes dies. would this be a governor issue?? or an issue with the injection pump?
@tacticalrepair
@tacticalrepair 2 года назад
I think you've developed an air leak in the fuel system somewhere. Probably the hose inside the fuel tank.

OK; we are a club of former Amy vets who restore and display wheeled and tracked ex-Army vehicles. Sadly none of us have background on the M35, however we have one belonging to our club and it has recently begun to completely deny firing without the use of starting fluid - once it does it runs like an absolute champ, hardly even smokes. All fuel filters and lines have been cleaned up and bled - so if the engine is as otherwise healthy as it sounds we don't wanna blow it up with starting fluid since we're obviously having a fuel supply/ engine stop mechanism issue. Is the gunk and corrosion we're seeing @6.53 the only cause that can limit the linkage to reach the proper 7 o'clock position or are there also other places to look?
@tacticalrepair
@tacticalrepair 11 месяцев назад
How often is it ran, and how often does it get fresh fuel? It may be just a bit of varnish starting to stick the fuel lever. Also, I find it better to use brake parts cleaner or gasoline on a rag on the air intake mushroom cap. Far less harsh than ether.

@TacticalRepair If the fuel lever assembly is froze up, and you start it up anyway, what damage will be done?
@tacticalrepair
@tacticalrepair 2 года назад
Depends on if it is frozen in the full fuel or no fuel position. In the full fuel position the engine can run away and blow up. In the no fuel position the plunger will stick up and the button will fall off, and then you have to pull the hydraulic head off to fix that. No permanent damage though.
@evanhart4032
@evanhart4032 2 года назад
@@tacticalrepair Well that's great news. I guess I can pull off the assembly to clean it, reach in and check the plunger with a screwdriver? Thanks for your channel, You have some great info here. I’m trying to find some info on adjusting the drop rod on a deuce that’s been sitting for 12 years. It goes to straight down position and to the off position but it won’t go to the 7 o’clock position. Truck won’t start without either but then runs at about 8,000 rpm idle.
@tacticalrepair

@@jamescoffman5306 that indicates to me that there has been a major failure in the governor assembly. I'm sorry to have to tell you that but you'll need to have that pump professionally repaired.
@jamescoffman5306
@jamescoffman5306 2 года назад
@@tacticalrepair so we pulled the FDC bypass off of the pump and the drop rod goes all the way to the 7-8 o’clock position with it removed and everything moves freely. It seems like the part in the FDC that looks like a claw is keeping it from moving all the way forward. When given full throttle the drop rod will move all of the way forward. However when attempting to start the truck the lever stays in the 6 o’clock position and the truck will not start without either. I screwed the fuel nut that was under the cover down about 5 full turns and the truck will start by barely pushing in on the ignition.
@tacticalrepair
