ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qN0Iw2PvFnY.htmlsi=1gY1ANJyNxjeG1fW My plunger failed on my pump. I have another but with a worn out hydraulic head (90100A). I have another g-code pump. I disassembled the head, it is a little bit different. Do you know if I can run the g-code head (9065A) on the multifuel type pump? Thanks in advance

If memory serves me correctly, that head is for the first generation LDS427 engine and it was fed oil via a port in the pump center section that is not present on the newer pump bodies. It also doesn't provide as much fuel as the 90100 head. I can't say for sure that it would fail in a newer pump body though, as they have a different oil path for the bottom end of the hydraulic head that may eliminate the need for oil feed from that port.

Hi Garrett thanks for the video! I have noticed in my truck I have developed a fuel leak and it appears to be coming from the top of the hydraulic head. All 6 of the fuel line connections seem dry and ideas? Should I plan on replacing the fuel lines, there is corrosion present around the fuel line nuts. Thanks for you help!

Yes, the best course of action is to replace them. Don't overtighten the new ones. 25 Lb/ft max, or you can crack the hydraulic head.

It could also be the 3/4" center bolt plug. Just break it loose and tighten it back down again. 45 lb/ft.

Does the plunger itself ever fail? If so, how can I tell if it has failed?
@tacticalrepair
@tacticalrepair 2 года назад
Yes, if it seizes in the head it's failed, or if it has noticeable wear or scoring on it, or if the truck won't run on straight diesel but will run if you mix a good bit of oil in. Usually the problem is just the button fell off. They will move even without the button, but not enough to build pressure.

what causes these trucks to stick wide open?

I noticed that the star bolt or torx looking bolt on the side of the head near that data plate was already removed. Does that bolt have any significance or can it simply be removed and replaced without any timing or lining anything up? My pump leaks from that bolt and it's very tight but I wasn't sure if there is an oring on there or not.

That's the delivery valve cover bolt. It had a precision machine fit seal. No washer or gasket or sealant is used. They usually start leaking because they're hairline cracked. You can try to loosen it and tighten it again to try to make it seal. Sometimes it works, sometimes the cap crumbles. You'd have to get a new one from Ambac or find someone who has a used one from a bad head.

@@tacticalrepair Will the type of pump, G code or the other variety have a different style of bolt? I sent Ambac an email and gave as detailed description of the bolt that I could and what I had. Hopefully they will know what it is or have a pretty good idea. I figure even if I do loosen it and snug it back up again works, it'll only be temporary before it leaks again and I prefer to not have a fire or other issues.

I got the bolt. TNJ Murray had them for $25 a piece. Replaced and now no leaks and she runs great again.

This happened to mine, but the clip dissinagrated and went down underneath where the hydraulic head goes. I got most of it out that I could. Do I need to take it apart or should I not worry about it?

Don't worry about it. Not much you can do.
