I listened to Killswitch with Jesse for like a year until Howard came and I truly believe alot of Killswitch's Popularity came from Howard. Jesse was alright but it wasn't until a few years of him being gone and doing his own thing before he could control his vocals. Howard is amazing though, and haven't really listened to alot of KSE now that he's gone to be honest.
David Brunell Thats right dude, I really like My Last Serenade with Jesse singing but Howard can also rock that song. Howard is what made Killswitch Engage popular if it wasn't for Howard with his vocals in my opinion I don't think they would have gotten as big as what they have. Jesse is a good guy but I just don't feel the music like I do when Howard is singing I love Killswitch Engage but I can still only listen to the songs that Howard is singing.
Mike: "Dunnna na na" (I'm okay too) "Dunnna na noo" (not that any one asked) Justin: "BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR" (Haha I'm the drummer, shush)
I absolutely love how they're talking to each other with licks 😂 they're out there having the time of their life and playing flawlessly at the same time
fun fact: when darkness falls was supposed to be on alive or just breathing and this is absolution was supposed to be on the end of heartache but neither were finished by the time the album had to be released
He’s cuping the microphone, which cuts off high frequencies, while singing very loudly and very close to it, which distorts the signal, but just a bit, not too much. A lot of KSE productions of the Jones era use low-pass filters for a few passages, so Jones is kind of “low-pass filtering his own voice” live here. It’s possible that some audio guy is doing other things live behind the scenes but then we can’t be sure.
Jesse == apples ; Howard == oranges. Don't compare the two on equal grounds. They both put their heart and soul into the performances. Either way, the entire band gets respect for that as well. It is amazing that Killswitch Engage have lasted this long over the years in a genre that is not really all that popular...I'm a huge fan though. Biased opinions, suck...sorry, boo.
Gustavo De La Cruz But it's an apple a day keeps the doctor away, not an orange a day. Seriously man, I love both apples and oranges, so stop saying one is better than the other and let's accept that the two have their own benefits
@@Madchris8828Uh, Jesse coming back ruined the band. I guess you didn't notice that huge plummet. And no, he can't go near as deep as Howard. He needs fills from the rest of the band.
@mchuffin22 First of all, Nicholas Huff, when you look like you go about 5'10, 400 pounds, don't groom and a hat won't fit on your melon head ... May want to calm yourself. Coronary is real. Two, your name is after McLovin, from a 17 year old movie about penises, and you're being an internet tough guy? 🤣🤣 Lose some weight. Find a hat that fits. Shave. Get a job. Also, learn how to make a profile so we don't all see your real name. Sincerely, Not a Moron
This is the best live clip ever recorded and I am absolutely in love with it. If my band ever gets to play together with these guys I would be able to die as a happy man.
Till this day I still think this is the best live show in the realm of metal like ever done. There are tones of other great stuff, but this is just authentic, one of a kind.
I will never forget going around a monster pit with these guys, with some dude running next to me bollock naked. Visions of his clothes on the floor covered in piss and beer, then trying to get a cab home🤣
Ryan Schmidt singers (sometimes ) do that if they can't hear themselves very well...funny thing is...it kinda makes it worse haha but it always makes us feel better haha
I 31yrs old and have been a KSE Fan since the first album. The only band I listen to that sill makes me feel like i did when i put my first metal tape in the player! I pray these guys keep making bad ass music for many years to come!!!! \m/
I dont its so simple to sound right. The execution is perfect! Also his kit its a three piece, the replacement put the toms and floor a little far away from each other

@@brettpatnode297 his technique here is nothing short of awful and his singing cupping the mic sounds bad live. Both are better now than they used to be.
I saw these guys last month with Jesse leading the band, and I’ll be damned if it wasn’t the best live show I’ve ever seen. The whole band absolutely killed it
I became a fan after Jesse came back but I started by listening to the Howard-era stuff because everyone told me that Jesse's albums were crap. Then I heard AoJB and was like, "Yep, they have no idea what they're talking about." AoJB is possibly one of the best albums ever written (though believe it or not, Incarnate topped it for me). I really enjoy both vocalists for different reasons. And when I want to hear Howard nowadays, I just go listen to Devil You Know. I can't really say which I like better but I typically prefer Jesse's albums (even though As Daylight Dies was probably their second-best album IMO, tied with AoJB), but I still really enjoy Howard's albums as a whole. No doubt both of them are extremely talented vocalists. When I want a more energetic, heavy feel, I listen to Jesse's work. When I want a more emotional, beautiful sound, I typically go to Howard's work. Because of their differences, I find KSE's work to be a lot more relatable to my various moods and situations. People just need to grow up. Like Howard better than Jesse? Listen to TEoH-KSE2 and Devil You Know. Like Jesse better than Howard? Listen to KSE1, AoJB, DtD and Incarnate as well as his work with Times of Grace (incredible stuff), The Empire Shall Fall and Seemless. Just quit arguing that your favorite is the BEST.
Paul Riccio 2 albums actually: self titled 1 and alive or just breathing. And jesse only had to learn 1 more album than Howard: end of heartache, as daylight dies and self titled 2. Jesse's complaining had nothing to do with amount of content to learn but everything to do with the fact that he was unable to sing it
Paul Riccio no? He learned the songs he had to sing live mixed with a lot of his own songs.. He didn't learn howards entire discography, no where close to it
Raw Liberty you’re out of ur damn mind Howard is a way better over all singer than Jessie there’s no debate there. Howard did this song better than Jessie’s actual album vs Jessie butching Howard songs live. My curse was a facking mess with Jessie.
People just need to realize that both singers are amazing and have their own strengths and weaknesses. Jesse has a great voice, but personally, I love Howard's voice because it is just unique and amazing. I can only hope that he makes his way back into the music business soon! Feel better Howard!
I enjoy going to KsE concerts more with Howard than with Jesse, Howard live.. is just.. phenomenal, which that I was able to see them with Howard one last time.
This is the song that got me into killswitch engage and I’m not going to argue over whether Jesse or Howard’s better I just want to acknowledge that the drummer was wearing a Dillinger Escape Plan shirt during this awesome performance.
you know i like both vocalists, they both have their own strengths and weaknesses, i enjoyed listening to howard, and i'll miss him as the KSE frontman, he is a very talented individual, but i am personally looking forward to what jesse can do, im excited to see if he can do just as well as howard, i think so, and i am willing to give him a shot haha
well, he was KSE's original singer for a reason i think, but your free to your opinion, disarm the descent was a pretty solid start for him i think. i hope you'll at least give him a chance, if not, Howard is part of a new band, which is actually pretty good, and im enjoying their stuff as well, it's called Devil you know, give it a shot, you may enjoy it.
It's Joel being an avid Skidrow fan that led me to them and also made me a Skidrow fan. I was 14 around this time, 25 now. Can't believe how long ago it all was.
For real I think it's awesome I had a black friend in my high school that loved heavy metal and rock and I think it's cool still friends to this day coolest emo guy I ever new
I've seen dozens of Christian bands raise the horns man. Tom Araya, lead singer of Slayer, is a devout Catholic for fucks sake. Such a stupid statement and point to try and make.
