Okay...don't judge my golf swing. I have already improved since this video. I was "chopping" at the ball as Ken calls it and I really didn't understand what he meant until I watched myself on video. I've been watching tips on TikTok and have picked up some good pointers. This entire week has consisted of a ton of planting and playing golf! I have this vision for all of my garden beds...we will see how close I can get for this year.

@@OurFamilyNest I played a game on one of my lives, where you (regardless of ages) had to choose anyone from you Tube to be your mum, anyone else as a dad, anyone as a brother, sister, et, home etc Candi was my mum (not age relevant!). Drew was always my big brother.

I upped my garden game this year. Bought 2 Vego raised beds (one for peppers, the other for tomatoes). There are also 7 grow bags with tomatoes and 2 with peppers. I planted all indeterminate tomatoes so I also got a Vego trellis for the one bed. Indeterminate tomatoes produce fruit all season long until the first frost. Determinate only produce a certain amount of fruit and then they are done. I started mine from seeds inside in early March then potted up and finally transplanted in May. You also have to harden off your plants before transplanting them into the garden. It was a lot of work and quite a bit of money at the outset. I think I spent about $2500 so far on everything. I bought heat mats, grow lights, seedling pots, seeds, fertiliser, etc. Then we had to fill the beds. Or you can get seedlings starting in mid April. I think Hoen’s in Holland has the best selection of everything. For 2 8’x4’ it took 4 cubic yards of compost. I also laid down heavy duty weed barrier and mulch. I watched a ton of RU-vid videos to get different perspectives and tips. The Millennial Gardner is one and MIGardner is the other I watch a lot. TT has a bunch of gardening content creators as well. I really did enjoy the challenge of growing them myself. Hope any info I gave you helps!

I work at a catering company and they save all the vegetables and fruit scraps and i mix it in my garden beds w fall leaves and it make great planting dirt. Alternate beds each growing season. Some plants take different things out of the earth so its best to roate just like farmers do. They grow corn in the field one year then soybeans the next and so on. I start all my seeds under a grow light six to eight weeks before i put anything outside to give it a boost and they are the size of greenhouse plants. If you buy dirt i suggest buying a variety of dirt and mix it together.

To start seeds germinating early, instead of lights you can just grow them in plastic lidded take away boxes.

At least it’s a healthy obsession. I have a raised bed garden and then some container gardens in areas where there’s good sun but not a good place to put plants in the ground. I also did a chaos flower garden this year where I just scattered seeds and waited to see what I got lol

Your veg garden - grow oleander bushes both sides and no deer! Anything you want to know about growing veg - I probably have it on my channel! If you garden well - use the shady area for your compost area. Anything you want to know - just ask. Advice! Best NOT to get the metal raised beds that are being pushed at the moment . Pallet wood or similar are best.

They are perennials from Lowe’s and Menards. It is late in the year. most will tell you to wait until late summer early fall to plant otherwise they could die. You have to give them lots of attention. Water every morning before sun comes up depending on sun/shade/location. I’m giving it my best shot because I’m impatient.

You should consider 'deer proofing' your garden. Deer will jump the fence. My sister has garden beds with minimal open space for sun as well as some enclosed garden space. She also has chickens.

The clear sticky sap can cause skin irritation or a rash on contact. Don’t burn discarded oleander branches, as it can release toxins into the air."
