@cutlerylover Hello Jeff! Just so ya know I lost 42 pounds! And I eat healthy, walk everyday, and go to the gym! Do NOT take any diet pills or fast! Not recommended! Plus, most diet plans are expensive! Like, I did Nutrisystem a long time ago and my mom wasn't happy! It costed her over $500! Don't do it! It ain't worth it! Good luck and stay strong Jeff! ❤ I keep a log ta track my progress! ❤

Jeff, you lease a 60k truck, have all the toys a man wants, a nice wife, get yourself straightened out! Weight loss surgery, therapists for your addiction, and stop with the long diatribes every 6 months about excuses with your weight. Come on man !!

@@j.c.doutdoors133 actually I dont lease the truck I bought it with a loan ...Id prefer not to get surgery cant afford it and I want to do it naturally the surgery does not have a huge success rate like people think may get it then baloon right back up...
@j.c.doutdoors133
@j.c.doutdoors133 7 месяцев назад
@cutlerylover Well, Jeff, a loan and lease the same thing , maybe slightly lower rates. Secondly, you are wrong about WLS. Tbe gastric bypass has an 80% plus success rate for fat or obese people. Thirdly, as I discussed, if you stopped spending ( addiction) on knives, g.u.n.s, battle boxes, and junk food alone, you could get it on a payment plan. I've mentioned this for 5 years to you. You always have the excuse people going back ( not true ) gastric bypass or Roux -en-Y . Those are the 2. Not a band surgery ( useless), and yes, you would bust that and be 450 lbs within a year. Jeff, a few of us care about you. Not the people that say ( hang in there, or you can do it) because if you could have, you would have ( 10+ years). It's us few thst tell you stop the b.s. and excuses and rants and long-winded stories going off topic, and get help! You need medical help . Weight loss and addiction to many things. Also, a psychologist or psychiatrist is excellent for any childhood trauma you may have occurred. I want you to get healthy , physically, and mentally. I wish you and your wife a long, happy life together. Please 🙏 get the help you need .

Jeff please don't die. I've been following you and M13 on RU-vid since I was a teen. The zippos, knives, and cigars have been great hobbies and loves I discovered thanks to you. Lifestyle choices are hard and easier said than done. But we shouldn't be ashamed of how many times we fall off but instead be proud of how many times we get back up. I'm not super active on RU-vid since they've stopped prioritizing subs but I want to let you know you're a part of my life and I talk about you often. I just want you to know I love you man and I'm glad you're here to share with us. I'm 31 and have nice little collections thanks to you. My son is only 3 but I look forward to passing on some of these interest and hobbies we've shared. Thanks for being a part of my formative years.

I'm in the same boat Jeff...the issue with dieting is once we're done dieting we feel like we can finally go back to "normal" which is eating whatever we want whenever we want. Dieting is easy but changing life habits is really, really hard. That's how we pretty much always lived.

Hey Jeff, just wanted to pop in here. I've been subbed on my old account since I was probably 10/11 years old- first knife oriented channel I really came across, and immediately could relate to a lot of your stories when the video topics weren't knife centric. You also got me into zippos and all sorts of random collections throughout the years. I just want to thankyou for all the content and information, I wouldn't be the knife nut that I am today without your videos. Fast forwarding from 10 yo- I ended up getting really into knife making around 15, met Mike (gavko), and started making knives for a bit, collecting ect. Moved from Brooklyn NY to Harrisburg PA for college, and fell in love with Central PA- dealt with weight fluctuations the entire time, and still do (but its been relaitvely stable for a few years now- I used your videos/progress as motivation years back). Now that im 26, I can really relate to a lot of what you're talking about on a different level. Consistency is everything when it comes to weight loss, as most things. With the move and job change, I'm sure there's a lot of stress involved, so just stick with it and weather the storm. I wish you nothing but the best, and sincerely thank you for all the videos.

Hi Jeff, I appreciate you sharing. I used to be very in shape, then I broke my leg and blew my ACl. Having those two surgeries made it very difficult to stay in shape. One point of view that's made sense to me is when it comes to perspective of yourself, if you see it as "X days since the last X addictive action", then you're not actually breaking any addictions, you're just bringing awareness of how long it will have been until your next time doing that addictive action. In this case "I've been on my diet for 6 months, tough work" or "it's been 2 months since I've drank soda, it's been rough" then you're already putting it in a way that allows your brain to break that streak at some point. Whereas what you want to do mentally is just see yourself as someone who doesn't do X, i.e. "I'm not a soda drinker, that stuff is poison", "I'm not a fast food eater, that stuff is poison". TO me it makes sense because that's how I've been towards tobacco/nicotine, being an asthmatic, it's basically extra killing my lungs to smoke even more than someone with normal lungs, so I've never been tempted to smoke cigarettes or vapes because I've never identified with being someone who does that, despite many of my uncles and friends partaking. Obviously it will be harder to break for an active addiction, but hopefully that is something that you or someone else can try implementing, changing the way you identify with your addiction. Wishing you and everyone else the best

Jeff. Been watching since 2011 or so(?). I too have had an addition to food and have always had the dark insecure shadow of being overweight since I was 15. I am 31. I was obese and made all the wrong decisions too. I got bariatric surgery 7 months ago and it has changed my life. I’m now 180lbs and healthier than I ever have been. It has been such a good tool to literally kick my ass into gear and start a new lifestyle. It’s changed my relationship to food and personal health. Look into it. Most insurances will cover it and even if they don’t, a small loan can cover it. It’s been the best thing I’ve ever done.

Hey Jeff, I am also overweight and need to work on it. I lost 50 pounds a couple years ago and what saved me was the simple chicken and white rice and sriracha. Sriracha has next to no calories and adds so much flavor to anything you put it on it’s a great condiment for working to eat better. As far as gaining the weight back, it’s gonna happen I did the same thing, just be diligent and keep at it, the small victories will make you feel good and keep you on track. It doesn’t help that half the comments on every video are people talking crap about how you gained it back or that you’re eating something you shouldn’t. People can mind their own business and you just do you! Much love Jeff good luck!

Set you a meal plan! It’s helped me a lot. I make food at the beginning of the week. Put it all in containers and eat those meal portions at different meal times. It helps me have a set meal schedule and also helps me choose more healthier foods to eat!

Its been a long time and I just wanted to send my best wishes and to keep making videos so long as it makes you happy. This was a very genuine chat… we all have addictions / vices… bad habits end when they are replaced with other good habits…another way to achieve over coming addictions is to become that person you want to become… when facing a decision on whether to do the right or wrong thing… to make the same decision that the person you wanna become would make.. do this enough and you will become the person you wanna be making the choices you want.. what you accomplished prior is part of the journey… keep going but make smaller gradual changes .. I’m still working on this myself on not for weight loss but other self improvements.. god bless

Jeff, I was in the same boat as you know, and I was approaching forty too. I decided to have a gastric bypass surgery, and it worked for me. I've gained a little weight back; I was 400 pounds; I'm now 242 pounds; and my goal is 200-215 pounds. Have you ever considered gastric bypass? Understand that it can be just as hard as losing weight naturally; it isn't a quick fix. You'll suffer either way, and a big part of the approval process is psychological treatment to break that addiction. The next time you see Ed, you might ask him to go for a cup of coffee and get to know him.

I understand your frustration with weight loss. I was 565 lbs mid 2022. I tried every diet program that I could think of but none of them worked (or I just couldn't work them correctly). I was finally able to get health insurance so went to a doctor who specializes in weight loss. Turns out I have several hundred genetic markers for obesity. I am now about 380 lbs because of Ozempic and walking. I know it's a fad drug for many, but the hormone that tells my brain it is full is messed up and Ozempic is helping a lot. Obesity can very much be a medical issue. I am also clergy and have done hundreds of funerals. While the funeral does honor the deceased, I find that it's just as much a chance for the family and friends to grieve together. It acts like a form of closure for them.

Beating a dead horse here. But. I’m gonna say it anyways because I’m a lifelong fan who went through a weight loss journey and I care about you. You have got to stop making the excuses. Dieting isn’t an on again off again thing. It is a lifestyle change, and one that you will have to stick with forever. The way you’ve learned to eat thus far is obviously not working. You don’t get to make a whole lot of progress and then go back to normal without expecting the results that that “normal” got you in the first place. Best of luck. I’m rooting for you. We all are.

Thank you for your videos. I’ve been watching for years. So many other channels I’ve watched daily have fizzled away and disappeared. Thank you for documenting your life and your hobbies. Not many channels are authentic and humble. That’s your biggest draw. I have similar problems. I tend to be good at exercising or good at dieting. But never both at the same time. I’ve been going to the gym regularly for the past year. I’ve been packing on pretty good muscle. But I’m still have a big ole flabby belly. Part of it is from drinking. Part of it is from eating snacks and having 2nds at dinner. I feel your pain. I feel like if I were single it would be easier. But I live with two others that don’t gain weight. Dinners cater to them and their eat whatever they want diets. And so I go along because making dinner is time consuming enough. Life is hard. It doesn’t get easier. Just keep your chin up and keep grinding. If you fail you fail. Get back up and try again. Consistency is key. And part of that consistency is to be strong at every turn. With the gym I decided not to go all out. Because then I get tired and quit. So I go 75% everyday. And I keep going because I don’t kill myself. I think eating is like that. Maybe don’t go on some hardcore restrictive diet. Just cut back portions. Instead of eating a snack chew some gum. Or chug a bottle of water. Now I’m blabbing. Good luck man. Please stay positive. I don’t like these morbid videos. I get it. But I don’t like them. I respect you and enjoy having you in my life.

Hey Jeff. Ive been watching your channel for about 10 years now. I know im not you and everyone will be trying to give advice but i agree with someone else that you may need a full lifestyle change. A food addiction can be bad but you just gotta get addicted to good food. I also find staying a bit hungry helps. Dont fill up. I recently fully cut out all chips, drinks with sugar and fast food. After about a week i dont miss it. Anyways best of luck getting it off and keeping it off.

You can do this Jeff, and it will be worth it. Trying to be our healthiest isn't necessarily about living longer, because none of us can control that, it's just enjoying feeling better while we are here, I think. I appreciate you man, I have been watching off and on since I was first looking up knife sharpening, and you were one of the only sources of info on youtube. Your first Spyderco sharpmaker review, that era.

Jeff, I know what it’s like to be over 300 pounds. One year ago I weighed 301 pounds. Today I weigh 178. Food addiction is a real issue. It’s how we cope with emotion. It’s how we reward ourselves. Not to mention the processed foods we eat are full of addictive chemicals. I lost my weight with the carnivore diet. It has been the only thing that has worked for me to take my health back. If you care, my wife and I have a RU-vid channel that documents our health journey and our goal is to inspire others to get healthy. youtube.com/@carnivorecouple I hope you never give up and will one day accomplish your goal to take your health back and conquer your food addiction. Ps I’ve been watching your content since 2010. Thank you for always being so awesome and down to earth brother. You got this!

I remember when I stumbled across your videos when you did one on losing 75 lbs and then another one about 100 lbs ! You got this man. I was heavy for a long time. I finally lost 165 lbs in 9 months and have kept it off for a few months now. I know you don’t like a lot of restrictions in your diets that you’ve done but I do carnivore and omad. Have a good one man and all the best to you and your journey !

Hey man, i love your videos and i offer this advice with respect. like you said about food being an addiction, it sure can be. Buuuut think of it this way, alchohol is good too, but you dont just drink all day long because its bad for you and it makes you feel bad quickly. Food is the same as alchohol in some ways, just think about cake and snacks like they were shots of vodka, once in a while. Right now you seem to be in a place where you can bounce back , start now before it gets harder. Either way, keep bein yourself, you rock dude.

Hey Jeff. I'm going through something similar. A while back I lost over 300 lbs and over the past couple years I've slowly gained back 60-70 lbs. I'm still in much better shape than I was ten years ago, but it is disheartening knowing I can go from around two solid years of pure weight loss (maybe one or two weeks where I gained but never much) to the situation I am in now. My big problem is mindless snacking. Thankfully, the good habits I developed a few years ago have kept my meals consistent and I think that's what has saved me from ballooning back up entirely. One of the things that keeps me going is knowing that I've done it before. If I've lost the weight before and was able to consistently eat healthy once, I know I can do it again. You have it in you do get back on track and you know you have it in you. Good luck and keep on keepin' on. Btw, as a fellow fat dude, if people get their panties in a bunch over a fat dude referring to himself as a fat dude then let them. These people choose to be miserable, let them have their misery.

I dont like to give advice escpially to people that i dont know well or there full story but i would like to share my experience... I was a small kid i went through some heavy shit around 21 and balloned up im still not extran large but im much heavier then my "healthy weight" i have lost most of it and for me i was always saying to myself ahhh i wont have the full bag of chips i have the control and i wouldnt finish the bag but i would do this all the time and then it was like i had the full bag anyways... One day i told myself thats it cold turkey and while it was hard af it was almost easier because i gave myself no room every craving was so hard that it made me extremely aware of every decision i made. There was no room for gray it was black and white which was much easier for my personality to not let it slip... I didnt diet on a diet i just instinctivly knew if it was good or bad i didnt worry about if it was okay i pushed every food to the extreme into the two camps becuase that also helped with black and white... Im at the point where for the last amount of weight i probally need to work out more and focus on nutrients ect. But i wouldnt have got this far if i had to do that from the beginning

Good evening Jeff… so I’m a personal trainer in Miami , and I can tell you that it’s those little choices , those little moments , the snack here ; the brownie there , the beer over there , when you control yourself and you just start being disciplined with your exercise, you will finally lose the weight and keep it off. Think of it like this … a cookie of 160 calories .. will take the average sedentary person’s body jogging at a moderate speed around 45 minutes to burn that. But if you go do some strength training , some wood cutting , around 15-20 minutes to burn that. My biggest recommendation is to add strength training and build muscle to help speed up your metabolism and the more muscle you build , the faster the metabolism and the more fat you will burn. Remember you have different types of fats , Cardio will burn triglycerides, strength training will use phospholipids and cholesterol to build the muscle you train and help you assimilate the rest of the fat. Good luck and let me know if you just need some extra tips on what to do in terms of nutrition without “dieting” to finally lose the weight.

The first step to making it a lifestyle change is learning to love healthy food and learn about all the awful shit that is in processed foods. I recommend going full bore super healthy foods like the hippie dippie full on organic vegetables, fruits, and lean protein. Easier said than done but as someone speaking from experience you will start to crave the nasty stuff less and less this way. I was obese and eating fast food soemtimes 5 times or more a week on door dash after a car accident made me temporarily imobile. I cant afford all organic stuff bc its expensive as hell but I do my best and so many of the people who say it is too expensive to eat healthy blow their money on other crap. If you do this though, youre gut health will improve and the rapid influx of nutrients will legit make you feel like a new man haha. This plus exercise, especially working up to HIIT (high intensity interval training) and you can shed pounds relatively quick and healthily.

Love you brother, I have struggled with weight loss myself, it's tough, unlike hard drugs, you have to eat to stay alive. I try to get some exercise a few days a week and cut way back on drinking, which helps. You have a great attitude and lots of wisdom, and I love your thoughts on not being able to say certain words. It’s also much harder to lose weight in the United States, the food is so processed and fattening compared to other countries. I moved to Hong Kong last year with my friend who was 275 and without working out just eating the less processed food (lots of fish and rice) he weighed in at 180 this month. If you can just avoid the processed foods, which is admittedly very difficult and more expensive in the states, you will see the lbs fly off.

Bro, food is such a difficult thing to manage. Personally I've never struggled with weight but people in my family have and I've seen how hard it is. I know everyone is different, but what has worked for me to stick to a "workout" regimen is to not try to "work out." I started playing tennis and it has been amazing. I don't even feel like it's a chore--i simply enjoy it (and it gets addictive!). Maybe try some new activities or sports that you actually enjoy instead of going to the gym or running. But most important, just stay optimistic.

Been watching for years and I’m always rooting for you to succeed in life because you really are authentic. You should look into some motivational books and strategies. It’s so easy to go down the rabbit hole of spending days watching useless videos and paying attention to things that don’t matter. You have to start with just establishing healthy habits and patterns. put time into self improvement and you will get results but only if you put the work in. The problem doesn’t start with the action it starts with the thinking that gets you there.

Hey Jeff. Been watching you for a long long time. I'll just share what I've been doing for the past 7 months. I've been only eating meat and eggs and salt. It's awesome. Steak, hamburger patties, chicken, fish, eggs, and water (also lots of carbonated water). Eat as much as you want. Eat until you are comfortably stuffed and then dont eat again until you are hungry. The longer you go between meals the better. What happens is your body adapts to burning fat as your fuel source instead of carbs (sugar), so you don't feel hungry very often. Sometimes I only eat once or twice a day. I went from 260 to 217 in 4 months without much exercise. There are some doctors on youtube I'd recommend watching. Dr. Ken Berry, Dr. Chaffee, Dr. Eric Berg and Dr. Sten Ekberg

I have a suggestion. Im sorta in the same boat in that i have been up and down 80 lb a few times in my life (I'm 28 right now). I have dropped weight and kept it off a couple years at a time though and I'm currently just about to hit a 1 year low weight stretch. What I've found is I need a passion or a goal/destination. For me it's running, specially the ultra runners. Ultra runners are the some of the most insane mental and physical specimens on the planet (in my mind) So I made it a long-term goal to participate in an ultra-run. That is truly insane over-the-top goal and whats more... I don't even like running that much!! But... I love getting closer to a goal, enough that I have gotten to run half marathons (13 mile races) and often run 10 miles before breakfast on the weekends.... I'm still going 10+ months in! Because in my head it's like I have to! Or if I don't go on my scheduled run or workout I feel like I cheated myself. I know people cope differently but I personally have to take my mind to weird places to replace my extreme food addiction with another extreme addiction. Anyway enough of my blabbing on! Regardless I'll keep watching and enjoying your videos man! Hope you achieve the goals you have for life!
