GFI is a ground fault inductor. The ground-fault circuit interrupter, or GFCI, is a fast-acting circuit breaker designed to shut off electric power in the event of a ground-fault within as little as 1/40 of a second. It works by comparing the amount of current going to and returning from equipment along the circuit conductors. The also detect moisture but I'm sure that is not the issue where you are. Never want to use them for your PA system or amplifiers if it can be avoided. They can save your life in a split second but also ruin your show.

Everybody has played weird, half-assed run venues. It’s nice to see Stephen and the band take it all in stride. It’s too easy to have a hissy-fit over an unprepared vensue - especially when you are used to a more “professional” environment.
