I'm 33 years old and definitely can relate to Janet's feelings on romantic relationships. My fiancé and I are currently in a stressful period of wedding planning and it has been difficult for me to open up about my vulnerabilities (despite being together for 3+ years) and communicate my needs. I have the same problems with not wanting to overburden him with what I perceive are irrational thoughts or needs. My fiancé is my first boyfriend and he has been very patient with me, constantly reminding me that we are in it together and this is part of a healthy relationship. It is amazing what a simple request (I pondered for months rehearsing this conversation) like telling him to say goodnight to me can do to improve my own mental health and our relationship. The tangent about vulnerability is so interesting! I’m with helen in that it’s easier to be vulnerable with my SO versus friends. But my close friends would probably feel that it’s easier to open up to friends

Happy birthday Janet! We are actually birthday twins 🥳 I turned 29 on the 19th and I definitely felt nostalgic since it is my last birthday in my 20s and my first birthday as a mommy (had my son this past July 🥹 i also really love spill the baby tea). hi guys! big fan :) can you guys make a podcast about gifting gifts and gift-giving etiquette at different ages of a woman's life! I never know what to get a friend for her birthday, or even a boyfriend's mom the first time we meet! it would be such an interesting topic of conversation, and you guys could tie in the cultural pieces of gifting as an asian american at different events :)

Even though it was a tangent of the conversation, I loved the section about having our "walls" up and how much or how little we feel comfortable sharing with friends, SOs, family, and that being a result of the environment and how we grew up (asian household here as well, so I feel that.) I'm personally still trying to meet in the middle of this as well, at least with friendships I want to value. Love hearing about all your life experiences and perspectives. Makes me sometimes reconsider how I can be thinking about certain aspects and situations myself.

such a great great topic to talk about. As women, when we age society often criticize us. We spend so much money on products and procedures to maintain our youthfulness. But look at men! They seem look better! haha it's a silly double standard that society has come up with isn't it? Thank you for changing that conversation and challenging us to look at aging as a good thing :)

I don’t know. As I get older, especially living in a Western world, I feel stifled by the ways that the asian sensibility that was forced down in me growing up is restricting my ability to freely express myself or even freely think for myself without filtering through the ideals of properness. It makes one very much mundane and uninspiring…. Also, Asians grow up being trained to primarily use the cerebral mode of doing, thinking, saying, feeling literally anything. No wonder why we have a hard time just being who we feel on the inside.
