For sure there are other and more "perfect" guitars - but MY guitar for life is the Les Paul. I own various Les Pauls and its the guitar I feel "at home". Love my 1986er ES 335 and I like playing my Strat (everybody needs a Strat) from time to time, but for me the most satisfying time playing the guitar is when I have a Les Paul in my hands. Of course its not so easy to get the very high notes on this guitar and they are heavy - but it´s a Les Paul and so it is. There is no good or bad or better - it´s so amazing that everybody can have HIS type of guitar and enjoy playing it! Thanks for your fine videos and keep on your good work! Have to work at Jeff´s Triad course now! Greetings from Germany!

I was very very lucky to get my hands on a Joe bonamassa black beauty. It's so awesome easily my favourite of my Les Pauls, it comes a close second to my JJN gold glory.

As a teenager, I first tried a Les Paul when my cousin brought his brand new (1973?) LP Deluxe gold top over to our house. My immediate reaction was like “Now THIS is a serious electric guitar!” I’ve loved Les Pauls ever since. I currently don’t own any, but I do own an awesome Collings City Limits ( with Throbak SLE-101s!), which satisfies that itch, and more. A great thing about this single cutaway design is that notes retain fatness as you go higher up the neck; they don’t thin out like on a lot of double cutaway guitars.

Hi Keith, So sorry to hear about your dog buddy, I’m a bigtime dog lover myself and they just don’t seem to hang around long enough no matter how old they get sadly. Hang in there 🤙 I also finally picked up the TrueFire all access pass as well and it’s fantastic, I really should’ve purchased it sooner. Jeff McErlain’s courses are off the hook too, such a fantastic teacher aside from playing incredibly. If someone else is reading this and you’re on the fence about TrueFire all I can say is just do it, you won’t regret it. As always thanks, Tommy~

A Post 2020 PRS 594 with the Nitro and the TCI pickups that split really well has the better weight, ergonomics and tone is a good choice. That and a good 335. I really enjoyed the video - thank you 🙏

I dont think that it is a coincidence that the word GOD is DOG spelled backwards. Dogs are That Special!!!! Sorry for your Profound loss. I got to see Les Paul and Mary Ford Live next to our State Fair when I was a little boy,and was Blown Away!!! Live multi-tracking in spades. Roy Clark the next year. In my hometown a Gibson Stereo and a Super Reverb were the cats whiskers!!! I noticed Rick Derringer played the same rig on the back of the McCoys first album. I also noticed Detroit guys seemed to prefer a Gibson Byrdland with a Fender Twin. I also quite like a SuhrStrat with a Marshall type amp. Carr Mercury V for me. Good Job Guys!!! What was the desirable guitar rig when you were younger?

I guess, if you're going to be a minimalist, be a minimalist with expensive taste! Dang, that Strandberg and DGT are gorgeous!

It's nice to know I'm not the only one that doesn't get along with Strats. I have a '77 LP custom that I've owned for 35ish years. It's the best playing guitar I've ever touched, a true fretless wonder, and despite it's onerous 3 piece maple neck it sounds great. It sounds like 70's rock, Deep Purple, the Allman Brothers, Skynyrd. It's beautiful. It's also 14 pounds, so I don't play it as much now that I'm 55.😂 Edit: to clarify I know Ritchie mostly played Strats, it's a sound or feel thing. Not a specific guitar thing. Hard to explain.

Sorry to hear about your dog, condolences. I am subscribed to 5WW as well as brother Beato. "To be fair"...i am a les paul fan, This was the 1st 5WW that was sort of click bait. I thought this was about Jeff's LP's. There were other models not LP's. Title should be different maybe like " the guitars of..."

Nice tones! I love my 2010 R7 GT! 8lbs even but I swapped out the BB1 & BB2 for Dimarzio 36th Ann PAFs. Too bad I can't play that nicely though😂

People think Roy Clark was square I suppose,but I thought you would like to know that Roy gave Pat Matheny his first union paying gig reading charts at the Starlite Theater in K.C. Mo.For Roy"s show. I got this info from Pats Mid-West years Bio.Pat thought Roy Clark was a good guy and a good musician.Cheers!!!!

I know that Jeff considers himself to be a Strat guy, but I agree with Robben Ford. He sounds better on a Les Paul. He appears to have a unique understanding of how to get that guitar to speak in a classic British blues fashion.

Keith I've been watching your videos since you started and I still have a copy of your first video but I've mentioned to you that a Strandburg doesn't fit your outer apperiance. You don't look like the type to play a headless and a half body guitar. You look like a Gibson LP and a Gibson 339 because you're a JAZZ musician. My 339 is so much lighter and has the sound of the 335. I think FENDER should leave the Humbuckers alone because they can't get the sound that a Humbucker was designed to produce. Luv ya video.
