I been a Hare Krishna for 40 years and love it, bhakti yoga can be practiced every where and for every one, I had great relationship with my family, most young hare Krishnas goes to university or work I don't know why you had such a bad experience, sorry for that

I dont know why they are teaching you guys to be completely separated from your family and demean them as “one” of your thousands of families. Here in India, even if someone becomes a full time devotee monk, he doesn’t abandon his family, I am a devotee and my whole family is a devotee and we are taught to see our family as a personification of Krishna so it is our duty to take care of them worship them! Whatever they are teaching you in the West is completely different from what we are taught here and i feel sorry dear that you had to go through that. I wish you well ❤

I've being in Krishna consciousness for more than 32 years. First 7 years in 90es lived in a ashram, following rules. Last 25 years living outside, still practicing BUT! I had to make few ajustments. I work at regular job, have friends among nonHare Krisha people, listen and play metal music of all kind. I am married and have beautifull wife, she is also practicing spiritual life like me. And I'm satisfied the way it is with me today. Many Hare Krishna devotees do not prove my way, especially metalhead part but I don't care! When I was young I wanted to save world. It was world against few of us. Today I'm just happy with my life as it is, no need to save anyone. Just myself!

The environment, especially satsang, is there to help you with fostering sadhana and prevents loss in energy buildup. Having said that, I emphatize with where you coming from. So, in order to maintain thorough connection with The Divine when living in our own circumstances (kala and patra), there is a solution which I was related by a master in kriya yog. Through which one can elevate all areas their life, with Spirituality at its core. That too is monetarily free, yet cost some conscious decisions and willingness to learn. Lord Caitanya's Movement is an extremely rare opportunity for fallen souls of this age to switch from being slaves of their minds and senses to being loving servants of Sri Krishna and go back home, back to Godhead. Not everyone who joins genuinely grasps this. They are cultists, who abuse the seriousness of the movement for their own aggrandizement and enjoyment. When Krishna exposes them, they leave, sometimes insulting Him on the way out. Sour grapes.

It can take some time to process and assimilate experiences. Blind following of anything is never good. Bhakti is a yoga system. Internal energies, emotions, feelings are also purified. Anytime spirituallity is teached through an organization, one side fits all then its bound to have probelms/corruption. look at the catholic church though I don't think that iskcon is on the same lvl necessarily. though the lesson here I see is that this topic is very contextual and its good to seperate Krishna from Iskcon and not lump them together. Nothing new when I hear the reasons. It is not so easy but we need to be aware of the difference between the institution and of our spiritual life. To have fun is good but we need to find someone who care for us and can help us to grow. Another point I would like to mention is that it is very very rare to find someone who can jump to transcendence, there is step to take before hand, to be guided according to our material nature, this is part of process but unfortunately there is a tendency toward disregarding this. How long can we hold the balloon under water ? Spiritual life is a deep call, live your life, all experiences are there to make us grow at the end. I wish you the best.
im 20 yrs old rn prep for competitive exams for dec 24 I used to give seva for graphic designing for my temple and was connected there with a devotee. at first when I was giving entrance exams I had a lot of time compared to now so i gave my best on desigining posters and stuff but now I dont have that much time its august rn back in july 24 i gave up i told my mom to tell them I went to my aunt's house to study and focus because it was really giving me stress He kept giving me posters and also gave me almost 70% work for new website i.e more than 100+ posters also options just in case to use and gave me really less deadline I think his way for getting ppl work is kind of ill not say criticizing but scolding so ppl will do it faster in fear but that made me more frustrated lol I havent left the community but Im not in contact with anyone temple rn and Im peacefully practicing normal daily seva and stuff at home
LJ, I am not an ISKCON follower but a regular Hindu. You could go to a regular Hindu Temple and worship there , volunteer or just sit and meditate. See if that helps you create a balance.
Wow! I watched your channel a few years back. I saw some Harw Krishnas in ny Town last Saturday and mentioned to my mum that there was a girl on RU-vid that made videos about the beliefs etc but she deleted them which was a shame, then exactly 7 days later, this gets uploaded! Excited to watch this again when I have time x
It’s a shame and quite ironic because Krishna consciousness is all about reconnecting with your true self getting to know yourself on a deeper level but your experience was that the more you practiced the more you felt disconnected from yourself and lost your sense of identity. As someone who grew up in krishna consciousness A lot of what do you say sounds familiar in that for us who grew up in KC we have learnt not to do these things. It’s okay to be normal, you should have a career, have friends, big deal if it had onion and garlic, we have learnt not to sweat the small stuff. God loves you. I feel your pain and can imagine what you went through was quite rough. You didn’t need to prove your worth to anyone Krishna loves you just the way you are and if I’m honest I always thought you were pretty cool ☺️ I hope we bump into each other some day it would be nice to see you again, hope you are living and happier and healthier life . If you wish to practice Bhakti yog you MUST suffer the trial of sages. It may take many attemps to find a realised Guru who has no other motive than awaking your Bhav. As mentioned in a below comment, any one size fits all movement must be approach with intelligence not emotion. If you ever feel lost on your journey, simply simplify. Krishna teaches detachtment from materail desire, this can be done anywhere, at anytime, with or without the aid of an ashram. Lord Krishna insists to Arjuna that practicing Karma yog is an ever more elevated practice than Bhakti yog. The Bhagavad Gita says everything we need to know. Thinking about krishna happiness even once in a day gives more benefit than doing 24/7 service with a cheating mental or a material mental. Do pranayama and chant 30mins a day each with a pure desire, you dont need this 24hr service.

Thank you LJ. I saw your videos and you looked very happy in your Krishna Consciousness. From what you shown us, you had a lot of services that were part of your natural propensities and part of what you wanted to do in your life.( vegetarian restaurant, rap, and so many things) I saw so much positive in your videos, that you would not be able to do in any so called cult or religion. Krishna Consciousness is not a religion. It is Sanatan Dharma. It is our natural and constitutional position as the eternal soul.) That is our real self when we use our natural propensities for Krishnas service. And it seems you did that. Nothing is easy and nothing is perfect in this world. Krishna is so kind and He lined up so many services for you to get first hand training that no school can teach you. Of course there were some services that seemed were not your forte. But you could have told your Guru that you felt you were overwhelmed with some of your services and that you struggled with your mind with it. Im trying to understand how the ashram set you up with a married elder man with kids? (Maybe some karma you had to go through and test of Maya and not just that but he did seem to look for someone with a weak mind who he could manipulate. That was unfortuneate. It seems your guru fixed that part to allow that to end. (Maybe he had no idea of that mans position.) The problem with women is they tend to think they are their mind or emotions or feelings and focus too much on that. I think if you made a list of all the good thing your ashram experience was and all the good training it gave you, you would find very little negative compared to the good. It does not matter what religion or job or life situation there will be challenges. The thing with chanting is it brings up anartas (Unwanted things in the heart and mind) The process is to turn to Krishna and take shelter of His lotus feet to help us throw those things out. And Srila Prabhupada is Jagat Gur and he can kick out any problem if we just turn to him. The only thing religious in Krishna Consciousness is the principles of Religion (4 regulative principles( And rising early and Deity worship) Thats not a cult. Some devotees like to fit into society well that you can do to.Srila Prabhupada said what ever you do just add Krishna. There is no need to throw the baby out with the bath water. Maya is expert and she knows our each and every weakness and she will try to trip us up. So you have family attachement and food attachemtn and society attachment. The only remedy is Krishna. The further one goes from Krishna the more they will need those other things. Count your blessings and circumstances. Look at the positive. You actually found yourself in Krishna Consciousness, but your mind waned to identify with your mental view of yourself. You are a devotee and Krishna Bhakti is not a cult. Every society has a dress code and set standards etc. So thats normal. If we like it we follow that. If not we can do our bhakti outside. But that is practically impossible not in association with at least one devotee. I encourage you to take up the process and just listen to Srila Prabhupada lectures. (If you really want to find your real self). Prabhupada said we have to put our love somewhere... just give this one life to Krishna and next life.. .no more birth, death, old age or disease.Naturally you will get board with material family life. He never told us to give it up. But naturally we get board with materialism, once we had the bliss of Krishna Consciousness. Krishna Loves you and wants you with Him. I pray to Srila Prabhupada for your greatest good and highest joy. Nitai Gauranga Hari bol!
PS ... and it is understandable of course you love your mother. She is a vegetarian and she lovers you enough to make you food without onion and garlic. That is love and you will offer that to Krishna as He does not like onion or garlic. So in that way you are engaging your mother in His service. That is real love. Love means sacrifice. Simply we have not learned what is pure live in this world. (But you got the greatest opportunity to learn what real love is. But if you can just make that simple sacrifice this way the plants and everything you offer all those plants, and cows from the milk products, they will all get blessings of Krishna and a chance to serve him. That is the eternal bank account you are making just by doing that one simple act in your life. Hari Hari Bo!
One more thing that just came to mind. Have you ever heard of postpartum depression? It's a kind of depression that happens to some women after they have a child.. It really is about feeling depressed and grief stricken that now their self centered life is over. That now they have to love this child that came to them, and for the rest of their life they will have to serve all that childs wants and needs. This kind of thing can happen in ones life in Krishna Consciousness if one does not feel like they have finished up their material desires. So instead of throwing out the baby with the bath water.... and giving up the process. Just add Krishna and dont give up anything. Just try to Love Krishna. Simple :)

I'm in UK. Been devotee 30 years visit temple daily But don't eat temple food. Very unhealthy. Think these devotees wud be better people if they eat proper food.
hare Krishna Mataji, i did not expect to watch the whole video, but i ended up doing it. you did a gread service with this one. u helped me to watch out the difficultirs which everyone is facing in isckon, but not only isckon but everywhere we can go. in every group where people met, there are certain dynamics which calls certain pattern in us which where hidden a long time. it s like a mirror for ourself, in isckon there are many who burn out, so we need to learn to calm down and be honest to ourself and others for some amount. we should also preach the importance of speaking about our inner difficulties as well on how to handle those who try to speak about those Problems by openning themselfes. often most dont know how to react and handle people who want to speak openly and therefore they feel the feeling to not talk in the first place which leads to doupt and depression, anxiaty etc. a great seva would also be to teach and preach such topics u mentioned, to grow the community. it is hard, nobody want to take the job and be responsible. most just say it is bad and shit, while they could do something to prevent the future devotes to experience the things you did. maybe, and i wish it for u, u will come stronger back than ever before and stay strong on the ground of the path of bhakti. i whish u the very best, may krisna bless u. hare Krishna

Very interesting, honest and well made. I have seen a lot of times energetic, talented people joining with full battery leaving empty. Like you said we in the movement need to learn to make strong loving relationships with other devotees. The prblm is they keep everyone so busy there's no time for quality talk with others. And that's the fault of authorities who are not there and just want the "ordinary" devotees to solve any prblm coming their way to solve themselves. I know "so-called" gurus saying they haven't a single friend in the movement. We should operate like a family where there are no secrets and a high level of tolerance. Every person is different and only time will change us. We have to be patient. I distance myself from iskcon but I'm fortunate to live in Vrindavan and in contact with local generational devotee families otherwise I would be lost. We can tolerate a lot if there's plenty of love and eventually when we have experienced satisfying relationships we can leave that and fully meditate on the loving pastimes of Sri Sri Radha Shyaama. It doesn't matter if we live in ashram Or outside, our material path was already decided before we took birth. Just don't reject God and everything will fall in place eventually.

Hi LJ, sorry to hear you had some bad experiences with ISKCON and your feelings were hurt. Devotion to Krishna is not all or nothing. For example, in the 12th chapter of the Gita, Lord Krishna explains that there are different levels of spiritual practice, and all of them are beneficial. I hope you will find an approach to spiritual life that feels right for you. 🙏

Gaudiya is not Isckon, vaishnavism is not Isckon, i was born in a devotees family (from isckon), experiences can be different so of course im in no position to deny yours, however to see thqr you even got rid of your tulsi kandi is heartbreaking, dont renegate Krishna because of an institution.
some people go into this group and actually fall in love the Krishna or Rama or Hanuman or whatever. They're the lucky ones. For a lot of others it gets old sooner or later and they have to fight fight fight to stay with it. Maybe they would best go somewhere else where they can find their thing to love.

As far as the Maha Mantra and the focus on public over temple worship could be said to be new in those combinations. The problem with ISKCON translations is some terms are not translated fully and some of the translated verses skip over the literal translation, in spots, to put in doctrine. Otherwise, they are usually the best books on those Vedic texts. Growing and applying normalcy to the spiritual path is not in accord with spiritual consciousness or spiritual principles; which can be applied to any material or psychological culture.

I hope you have now that kind of life you are happy with. my interest for yoga went from online connections to the kundalini musisc and meditation first. than i discoverd the chanting of jahnavi harrisson bhakti yoga kirtan practices on her social media channels. last month i watched about the second generation in bhakti yoga born and raised in talking about a lot of abuses similar to the yogi bhajan in kundalini. and I was confiming my impression that yoga stiles with gurus like this always are running cults. thats so sad that seekers are not aware of that dangers.

I have watched your other channel and know your name. I am not finding anything wrong with you. You may be comparing yourself with some others from your school and feeling you haven't achieved what they have? Try Pranayama. It could relieve all your stress. Yoga -- Pranayama -- Meditation, in that order. You don't have to live in the Hare Krishna community. You can visit them in the weekends and do a job like working in ANZ. You are a good story teller and you should give more emphasis on your youtube videos and create a revenue stream there. Perhaps, create a Yoga channel and hold live Yoga sessions on weekend mornings. Teach Yoga for kids by approaching their schools. First create your yoga portfolio on youtube or something. You don't have to be known for a single thing or have a single job. You can do multiple things. Like Yoga, Hare Krishna Rap, etc etc.
Y work so hard all you need to do was just chant the name a hour a day with a desire for bliss and you should get bliss. If you want a vision just chant the name with that desire in a year a person will get a vision of the lord. Why make it hard on yourself. Just enjoy the bliss of pranayama and chant, then everything makes senses. You dont have to do all these other external. Its so easy that it shocks me that these people cant go above the level of a neophyte and get bliss. Next time dont get initiation from a bogus guru or sit with neophytes who think they are advance. Just chant 1 hour a day with a pure desire thats all you need.
A christian is someone who believes and follows the teachings of of Jesus Christ. Someone might be a religious person but not a Christian if that person does not follow his Teachings and accept him as your Lord and Savior.

your experience may have made you feel a sort of way and I fully understand where you are coming from, but the teachings of Krsna is seperate from your experience, the teachings of srila Prahbupad and Krsna is still correct it is just that you suffered with mental health and suicidal thoughts that should have been checked, most of the stuff you said about isckon in this video prove nothing but that ISCKON is a kind and caring society, it was you who made the choice to leave based on your mental health which is entirely up to you as KRSNA hives us a CHOICE. Always remember the words of Krsna and don’t forget it would be sad to see a devotee fall down from a elevated position

You're a video person. Maybe this can help get some perspective on the atmosphere surrounding the Personality of Godhead. It is done very well. We can get a good "feel" for the emotions of bhakti. Very strange that you don't speak about the main aspect of the KC, the guru. This is symptomatic of not having received what you soul may have the most inquired, his grace. Very few of them can give the grace to love Krsna. This may be the first unknown reason hidden behind so many other, to leave Iskcon. After 40+ years I understood that I did not receive knowledge, so I decided to keep faith with another lineage, even if I was very attracted to Srila Prabhupada. So, I begin to listen Satyanarayana babaji from Vrindavan. And my hope came back. Now it's for me to prepare my next birth and I know that the first thing we need, it's not socializing, having fun and so called friends, but knowledge of our relationship with guru and Krsna. every thing is human creation there is nothing divine ,, Krishna is a psychological creation of Maharshi "VYASHA" . when Krishna says - hay guda kesh " I am the atman of every living Being" then is it a conclusion of Vyasa from his Understanding of the Advait Vedanta . I love Krishna because I know that the Consciousness is referring as Krishna.
sometimes you really need the disconnection for a while I'll join again in dec 24 after my exams.... my we first joined temple we met a devotee who is no longer in this world he CLEARLY said to me and my mom Mataji you're coming here very good but no need to get tooo close to anyone be respectful do your seva attend programs thats it There's one famous brajwasi katha vachak indresh ji he also said in one of his kathas that you should maintain a distance especially with devotees bcuz the more you knw them the more you become like casual frnds with them then your eyes starts fault finding in them which sometimes there is fault because no ones perfect temple is a hospital and ppl coming in are diseased in different levels some are too diseased than others so you should give seva do your spiritual practice and done you knw like a you have a personal circle where's no one is allowed and then comes intimate circle only few ones and then public circle.
U can do bhakti where ever place you are but left krsna consciousness its a unfortunate situation.. moreover i convinced that you didn't understand the philosophy of krsna consciousness i think because its very broad and very intelligent work as well if you understand then dont leave bhakti thats my opinion... Bhakti is not for joining and going its a natural process for a living entities tahts simple ...
You can practice Bhakti Yoga without being a hare Krishna devotee! I go to New Vrindavan all the time because I live close and I'm close to alot of devotees there and it's a great relationship.

Extremist behavior often stems from a deep need to connect socially. I chant Hare Krishna but I don’t consider myself Hindu. I think it’s a covenant essentially pact with God and a spiritual ascension tool to raise consciousness and purify negative energy that’s why I do it. community of half knowledge people is in some part of iskcon from which you suffer i suggest you to chant and read books and do work as other normal human do but gave all work to krishna as seva so their is no diffrence between work and worship that is karmyoga and krsna gave you Judicious for all work and workship always remember hariguru thats all no more acting is needed and if question arises find by yourself in books thats all chant and be happy

Basically western are taking higher level of Hinduism education but I m from Nepal, it is Hindu majority country we don't ware those orange dress we don't chant hare Krishna we don't dance we don't promote Hinduism but from heart we are Hindu we follow every Hinduism rules and teaching. Western are getting Hinduism education by top notch people of this era they might will be considered as god in future, no one knows future. This gurus are trying to make Hindu society in west like what there was in ancient. In ancient there was only truth era they are trying to establish truth era in west if they sucees to bring back truth era every illness and living being problem will fade way so that they try to put western deep down in Hinduism. If they will sucees western will be called great Hindu than India Nepal Hindus because in India Nepal majority are Hindu but we are moving to western culture and gurus are trying to build truth era so wearing orange dress, chanting hare Krishna going in airport and dancing in town have big big steps and plans and mastermind to bring truth era. Whoever have join this movement will be recorded there name in history, you guys are making revolution and history in western. Think about prabhupad who ever have join this movement and helped him are being considered as god because in the Hindu fighter body god soul lives and all Hindu knows how to respect those souls.
