I always fold my clothes like that! When I teach it to people, I always tell them the last step is to throw the bundle against the wall and watch how it doesn't even break apart-just for the whimsy of it lol

What a gorgeous location! I’ve heard of ranger rolling, but not doing a whole outfit together. Genius idea!

The genius is somewhere out there… 😉 I am not sure where I picked the idea up a few years ago, but I love it.

Travel sized Rummikub is a revelation, that's one of my family's favorite games to play together but the box is big and chunky so we don't usually bring it on trips but a travel sized one sounds amazing!! It would probably be easier to play on a little table too, I have a teeny deck of cards and I've found that they're great for solitaire if you only have a small surface available because the cards are so much smaller. I will need to consider picking that up!

We love Rummikub and play almost daily to see who has to do the dishes… There is the normal travel version that most people prefer - it comes in a red/beige pouch. The one I have is extremely tiny, the stones are not much thicker than a cardboard, and I have never seen it anywhere except at the toy store I bought it in Austria. It‘s more difficult to play with this one because the stones are so small - especially on a windy day. 😂 So if you have the space, the standard travel version is better imho.

Congrats on finding your bag - which one did you get? :) And I bsolutely agree - it needs a lot of research to find one that works for you. And it‘s sooo hard to choose a bag without testing, and where I live, I have no chance to see any of those backpacks in real life… I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to test them and that‘s why I try to make the reviews that „I wish I would have seen“, if that makes sense.

thank you for sharing. these alpine huts sound wonderful. was the hike tough to get to the hut? also, how easy/difficult is it to get a bed/room for the night in the alpine hut? and yes - i was wondering why you were stopping over and making this video... glad you sat down after a while... have fun. your toothbrush idea with the paste tabs and floss wrapped around like that is a great one. thank you.

There are tons of huts like this scattered all over the Alps, with varying grades of difficulty to hike to and there are also many long distance trails from hut to hut. The huts have an online reservation system. www.alpenverein.at/portal/huetten-wege/ohrs/index.php In the high season (July / August / Sept) you need to book quite early to get a spot, especially when you want to stay in a room and not in the dorm. :)

What do you do about cold drinking water ? That was some seriously pretty scenery
@MaggiFuchs
@MaggiFuchs Месяц назад
I know that trail and there is a well on the way where I can refill the water and also the tap water on the hut. Austria has excellent water quality, so we are very lucky. But if I don‘t know the trail or where I can get water, I usually bring my Grayl purifier (or tell my husband to bring it as his water bottle… 😂). So I usually top up with cold water, except in the morning where I buy some hot water. And since I share the hot water with my husband, he shares his cold water with me until I can refill. ;-)

So pretty! It looks like it was a fun trip 😊 Are the huts heated? So you do not need a warmer blanket or sleeping bag? (& then the cover is for your body, used in between their bedding and blankets?) Best always, Lynne
@MaggiFuchs
@MaggiFuchs Месяц назад
The huts are not heated, but everyone gets a thick wool blankets to wear over the liners. And if you sleep in the dorms shoulder on shoulder with lots of other people, it never gets too cold anyways… 😅

It’s one of the Lowe Alpine Airzone backpacks. I am not sure which model - it‘s already quite old. :)

Pff, who cares about weight when it is from meru!
@MaggiFuchs
@MaggiFuchs Месяц назад
I have been eyeing one of those super-tiny silk liners… 😂 but I think for the few nights a year where I use it, it‘s not worth the price. And the Meru one has been fabulously - I purchased it about 12 years ago on sale for a few €€ and it does the job very well. I have the microfiber one, so it also dries quickly between uses.
