Your hair usually locs at the root then works it way down the length of the twist/coil because the fresh LOOSE new growth has more space to tangle the shedding hair than the hair that's being put in a direction like twist/coil.

That’s not true. My hair loc’d at the ends first because that’s where they tangled up at. It depends on the hair

@@CULTUREszn for the MAJORITY of people with Coily hair it's the roots. My bad for the 15%, I watch content around my own hair type.

@@iamdanie_. I have coily hair lol I’m just explaining again it depends on the person regardless of texture. Some of my locs budded at the shaft 1st. Others at the ends. Others at the root. There’s no one size fits all

This was a nice story. Filled with trails and errors as it should. You never knew your hair as a loose natural so I can understand that's when you started experimenting and seeing what works for you 💕

What dye did you use? My orange/red(ginger) never bled on my clothes. When I mist after a fresh recolor, it’ll bleed a little on my hands but that’s it.But after that, it doesn’t bleed until I wash. My hair holds color really well. I use Adore

I have a question... was the inbetween retwist weeks hard? I've been looking DEEP into locs for months now but I do my own hair so I'm accustom to the neatness. Ik it's going to be a challenge the first few months which is why I've been delaying it 😭😭

Not really. I was also maintaining my own hair as well. But remember I had the Marley twists in at first so it was really easy for me

When you have long hair . Your ends are the last to loc. The loc takes longer to loc down the entire shaft.

Yes. I’m not sure if you’re referring to me saying my journey was backwards? Or if you’re just saying it in general. But my hair was locd 100% before I removed the Marley twists. The shaft/middle of your locs is typically what locs first but everyone’s hair is different so people experience locing/budding even at the bottom of their locs at times depending on length. And yes when you have long hair the ends take the longest to loc.
