Im giving out another glaze recipe to you dirty potters!
this one is a ^5/6 oxidation kiln; i have no tested it in reduction firing.
it should come out very light pink which gives it a Luminescent effect. That is why we call it. Lumos
* THANK YOU FOR THE ART LOVE AND SHARING OF MY VIDEOS :)
* Recipe to my lumos cone 5/6 ox
- frit 3134. 35%
- silica. 24%
- cornwallstone 16.2%
- whiting. 7.8%
- EPK. 6%
+zinc oxide 4.8%
+ T.O/ Tin oxide 6.6%
(correction, I misspoke, I didn't take the fluxes out I took the colorants out, and zinc and tin are not colorants ; although they do at times make pink)

You can get 2 and 3 gallon buckets from the bakery at your local grocery store. They get frosting in them and will most likely give them away for free. At least they do in the Safeway store where I work.

Thanks so much for putting out the videos. I am currently living and working in the Marshall Islands and getting into throwing clay and love learning from your videos. I had a ceramic shop in the Netherlands but we only worked with slip casting and low fired glazes etc. So throwing is my passion now and I am looking into mixing my own cone 5-6 glazes. Thanks again for the inspiration.

There are 2 gallon buckets at my HD in the paint section. Don't know if you've looked in that area but I thought I'd give you a heads up. Thanks for the great glaze info.

6:02 Cornwall Stone is also a bitch to deal with, depending on where you get it from. I have to run mine through a pestle and mortar before i can mix

3 years later - why is that?

It clumpy as hell. Like pebbles. But with the magic of water they just fall apart like that. Need need for a pestle and mortar, just some patience after adding the water.

Dante, I'm new to glazes and I don't understand why you sieve then pour the remainder in anyway, I'm not trying to be fresh, does it matter?

The main point is to make the particles smaller not necessarily to get rid of the particles I don't want, in reality I want every bit of chemical and particle in my glaze so that I don't lose color flux or body. The main point of the civic's to break them down into smaller pieces not get rid of them

Oh, Thank you. I thought the larger pieces might make bubbles or spots or something else, now I get it. This info was very helpful. You're so talented. I'm enjoying your videos. I may be a little older than your language sometimes, but you are very helpful with skills and always make me laugh. Thank you for that too.

Do you have a specific gravity that you'd use for this?
@EarthNationCeramics
@EarthNationCeramics 3 года назад
This video was a long time ago. Before I even knew about specific gravity. But, yes. The gravity of this glaze should be 1.3 Honestly I prefer 1.3-1.35 It's rather thick

Why don't you use Bentonite?
@EarthNationCeramics
@EarthNationCeramics 3 года назад
I usually only use Ben tonight whenever I needed to defluctuate for the glaze doesn't mix well enough with just my strength alone. I don't put bentonite in here because it honestly just doesn't need it.
