My Lupus Story - SLE Autoimmune Disease Diagnosis 

Thanks for sharing your story. I was diagnosed with SLE in 1997 and Sjögren's syndrome 1998. I went through all the symptoms you described. When the doctors made the diagnosis, I’d never even heard of the condition and there was no internet to check things out! I’ve lived with it for 25 years now and I’ve been in remission for a few years.

I suffer from SLE Lupus too. Was diagnosed in 2006. But it took 2 yrs to figure out what was wrong. Because I had all types of symptoms when I was pregnant with my youngest in 2004. I had a bad flare up for months last yr. So now they're checking my lungs to make sure there's no damage to my lungs. They changed a few of my meds and increased a few. I try to stay stress free, drink plenty of water take my meds and keep my drs appointments faithfully. You can live a full life as long as you take care of yourself.

Today it was confirmed that I have SLE Lupus. I have had every symptom you described for over 10 years! I was ignored and told its chronic sinusitis or anxiety,etc. Several times I thought I had the flu or covid. All negative everything. My EYE doctor is the one who saw something off, and called my regular doctor for blood work. My ANA test results showed positive and it all began. Tests started, for everything. Today, my RA doctor who I just meet, pin pointed it immediately, showed proof and educated me on Lupus. I am terrified right now, but seeing Nick Cannon,Tony Braxton and this video and many more about Lupus has taught me I am not alone and can get through this.

I clicked on your page for locs tips then stumbled upon this video. I diagnosed with SLE 12 years ago and newly diagnosed with bullous lupus last year. Living with an autoimmune illness is hard but not impossible. Taking care of yourself and allowing yourself to rest whenever needed helps a lot during times of flare ups. Thank you for sharing your story. I've realised that most of us lupus warriors have a similar story of misdiagnosis. It took about 6 years for me to get a proper diagnosis. At some point I went through an unnecessary surgery & I have to live with a scar on my neck. In my long search for a diagnosis, I experienced all the symptoms & my quality of life was really bad. Thank God I am better now & living life to the fullest.

I am currently waiting on a rheumatologist appointment to confirm or deny Lupus right now. My primary care doctor ran blood work and they’re saying it’s suggesting lupus. However all of my symptoms are pretty much the same except for the butterfly rash. Being taken seriously is the most difficult part of this journey. I’m so glad you posted this, having recent content to listen to is comforting for me.

my mom is being tested for lupus. i’ve heard it can be genetic, and so i’ve started wondering about myself. every symptom that you said you have, i also have those constantly. especially feeling like you had the flu, that just recently started for me. i’m 2 weeks into feeling that way, but doctors say that i’m fine. i’m very scared to, but i’m definitely going to speak to my doctor about this. thank you so much for this video, it was very helpful. i hope all goes well for you and it doesn’t effect you after medications start and have time to have an effect against it.

Wow! I came across your video because I have micro locs and I also have lupus. I have lupus {sle} and fibromyalgia. I’m 54yrs old. I was diagnosed at age 41. I believe I was misdiagnosed for years. I totally understand everything you mentioned. Especially that pain that wakes you up out of your sleep and the fatigue! Thank you for making this video and bringing awareness to lupus. I like your voice it's very calm and soothing. I was diagnosed with Lupus in the year and month of June 2015. Thankfully I'm still alive at 30 years old. I pray that there will be a cure for Lupus💜. I'm certain that you are my new hero. Now I'm not a kid, but believe that everyday heroes are important part of my life's journey, and I haven't had many. Just every now and then life identifies someone who stands out for bravery, courage, perseverance, grace, or some unique and special characteristics that are similar, and I say, "Aha. This is my hero for a season". Everything you said throughout, but especially from 9:00 to the end was stellar. God is with you in your life's journey. Sorry to hear about ur illness, but you are right, it's such a relief to finally have a name to the symptoms. Now u can move to the adaptation and management phase. Hang in there my friend. You won't have to endure this for too much longer. In the meantime, I'm sure u will use this as an opportunity to explore other ways to find joy in your life, and draw closer to Jehovah, the God of all Comfort 😘🙏🏽🤙🏽

Thank you for sharing your Lupus story, I was just diagnosed with lupus 2 weeks ago. Which because of my research I was not really surprised. Also I ha be previously diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis last year. Now everything that I have been through in the last 25 years makes sense. Had lupus for a long time, they just didn’t find it. I just found out this morning I have lupus. I'm supposed to see rheumatologist soon. I have all the symptoms you mentioned here. I even had the butterfly rash on my face, and just thought I was sunburned.

I see my rheumatologist Monday for my SLE checkup. I just recently stop taking all my lupus medications because I’m tired of feeling like crap. I really believe I have Sjogren syndrome because I’m always thirsty, the corners of my mouth and lips always cracked and dry eyes. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for making this video it was awesome I was originally diagnosed with sjogrens then they said it was lupus instead in 1997 then in 2011 they said I had mixed connective tissue disease meaning more than one so it was lupus and bechets. After all these years of steroids I had 3 compression fractures in my spine. Doctors are trying to wean me off steroids I’m praying they can. I wasn't taking it seriously for months and... I'm so mad... I could barely walk. My cheeks are still dark like a butterfly on my cheeks. You are describing all of my symptoms 😳😩... I got sick back in February and I thought it was covid and the flu and tested negative and after that, it went downhill for me.

No pain since I started AIP diet since I started a year ago. and Green smoothie has changed me dramatically since I started in Jan10. Huge improvement on my fatigue.

I am glad to hear that you got the proper diagnosis. A good friend of mines has lupus. Prior to her diagnosis I didn’t know much about it. It is definitely difficult for us women to have a doctor seriously listen to our complaints of pain/discomfort. I also have SLE Lupus, I was diagnosed with it, back in 1999, my mother also had Lupus, so I am familiar with the symptoms from watching my Mother deal with this chronic illness. I was happy to just be diagnosed with something because all the doctors couldn’t give me answers, I felt so frustrated and felt like nobody was trying to help me.
