I have been thinking about starting my own sister locks for some years. I have a niece who has locks and her locks are gorgeous! When done and cared for properly, locks are a beautiful hair-style. My biggest worry for myself is that my hair has became thinner after I reached 20 - 21 years old, after I had my second child (I am 48 yo now) -- I also started getting my first gray hairs at that time, and so I fear that locks may not look good for me. I love and want the look, but I still am uncertain if I should begin locking my hair because of my fine, thinning, and graying hair. I would love advice for us with fine/thin hair. Is the lock-journey possible for us? Or should we accept that we should avoid the lock journey.
2 point but my sister normally does it but now I have to try to learn myself, temporarily she’s been sick. Sometimes she occasionally uses a 3 mostly 2.
Thank you for sharing your story. I've realised that most of us lupus warriors have a similar story of misdiagnosis. It took about 6 years for me to get a proper diagnosis. At some point I went through an unnecessary surgery & I have to live with a scar on my neck. In my long search for a diagnosis, I experienced all the symptoms & my quality of life was really bad. Thank God I am better now & living life to the fullest.
I payed $1000 for the installation of my sister locks with only 6 inches of hair. I wanted mine professionally done. Then retires where $200 to $150 depending who did it. And my hair grows really fast so I can’t go past 4 weeks because my hair grows too fast. After 10 months I payed $325 to do the retightening class, now I know how to retighten my own hair so I don’t have to pay that $200 - $150 every 4 weeks. I’m 3 weeks I will be 1 year into my sisterloc journey and I love it. The process is interesting but I did my research so I new what to expect. And I don’t regret it. Personally I didn’t mind spending the money, I had already plan to take the retightens class and knew how much money I needed to spend to get me to where I am right now. I thought about it for 5 years before I decided to install my sisterlocs. Everyone is different, every hair texture is different, so do your research and decide what’s best for you. Blessings Girlies 😘❤❤
What about people with 3 type black hair and they hate their hair? I hate my 3b-4a type hair. I don't know to do my hair because I've always been the token black girl in constantly white spaces with not many black friends nor friends.I just wish I was white so I can have easy hair and go to a hair stylist to spend like $15 instead of over $100 doe simple styles. Why do white people get a ton of options for hair salons and black salons just rip people like me off? I don't really know how to do my hair. I try really hard but I have health problems that get in the way of doing my hair and it's becoming a bother. Even when I cut my hair short it was actually more work with short hair than my long hair.
I got microlocs. I don't like the expected 6-8 week retie schedule. I did it for a little while UNTIL the loctition started ACTING UP! I do my own hair now!
Wow! I came across your video because I have micro locs and I also have lupus. I have lupus {sle} and fibromyalgia. I’m 54yrs old. I was diagnosed at age 41. I believe I was misdiagnosed for years. I totally understand everything you mentioned. Especially that pain that wakes you up out of your sleep and the fatigue! Thank you for making this video and bringing awareness to lupus. There are so many people who have never heard of lupus before. 💜💜💜🦋🦋🦋
OMG !!! This three year old post has helped relieve some anxiety!!! I was washing every week trying to get rid of the white specs on my hair shaft!!!!! Thank you!!!🙏🏾 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Thank you so much for that great idea you can just braid loose half way down and interlock the rest great great idea wow. Even if someone knotless braided it for me I’ll just let them braid half way. Making sure the part to hair ratio is on point. Yah bless you and thanks again.
I'm going to try this. And finally cook that bag ive had in my freezer for months. I'm far too lazy to be taking the skin off that's why they been sitting there. But this looks easyb enough
Thank you for this video!! I’m trying to decide between the two and I definitely want length and the most neat. But I see what you mean about as the locs grow they take a while to all be uniform… ahhhhh such a decision. I have hair at my bra
My loctician didn’t tell me she moved out east after 3 mo of new growth and referred me to someone who was horrible. That same week hair started coming out the interlock. If I don’t get this myself I’m taking them down.
Naturally Motivated Lady, how tall are you? I'm asking because it looks like you have a ton of length for only having your hair locked for 3 years and 8 months.
Thanks so much. You are very straight forward with a cheerful personality. I just started my locs after being seven years natural. I decided to commit to this style because I’m so tired of trying to grow my hair & keep it protected & maintained. It grows and breaks over and over. Anyway, I call myself re-twisting yesterday & the back roots are already loose😩 I like your method so I will do that and hope it comes out good. Thanks again.
Thanks for making this video it was awesome I was originally diagnosed with sjogrens then they said it was lupus instead in 1997 then in 2011 they said I had mixed connective tissue disease meaning more than one so it was lupus and bechets. After all these years of steroids I had 3 compression fractures in my spine. Doctors are trying to wean me off steroids I’m praying they can. Hey I just started a page on Facebook for lupus warriors and family members it’s called . This is what Lupus looks like. Living with Lupus. Thank you for Your time and I hope all Is well. Blessings!
