I have a HUGE update on my wife's 2024 Blue Mazda CX-5 transmission miss/skip issue. Can you guess what the dealership (and Mazda corporate) has decided to do to correct the problem? Please take the poll located in the COMMUNITY tab for more info. Stay tuned for another update video soon.

It may be the torque converter. My 2020 CX30 had its transmission replaced around 23,000 miles due to a chirping sound when shifting gears. It also was not a "smooth shifting" transmission prior to the chirping issue. At 43,000 miles, the chirping sound returned. Mazda issued a TSB on 10-31-23 regarding the issue. The torque converter was replaced. This TSB covers several different models and years of vehicles. My CX30 now accelerates and shifts gears better than when it was new. I hope this helps.

When my 2016 Fusion was new, I thought the transmission was toast. It would sometimes buck like a bronco, then shift smoothly again. After two times back to service they found a part, as in electrical which they claim was not snapped in correctly yet connecting it did not work. They replaced the part and it has been smooth thereafter. This stuff happens. The bad thing is that it was not easily picked-up by the computer readout as to where the problem was.

Vehicle is at the dealership and here's a few updates: 1) Transmission fluid level checked and is OK 2) ECU firmware is up to date 3) Tech will attempt to reproduce the issue 4) Tech will reset the transmission programming (i.e. learning) Stay tuned for more updates

I totally understand your frustration! I got a used certified car from Acura dealership of Hamilton ON. My differential failed the next week!!!!! they said it was fine when they sold it and gave me a 6,000 CAD estimate to fix it!! These stealerships should get sued to the max for the evil things day do!!!!

Same thing happens with my 2023 carbon cx 5. Only 2.7k miles and on cold days , even after car warmed , the rpm sometimes spikes from 2nd to 3rd gear. I hope that you will update us on how the dealership handled this issue for you.

Hey! Two of the same identical cars? Switch it up a little Bill. 😜 We’ve drove nothing but Toyota, and now Lexus, cars for 30 plus years. Best cars on the road. IMO. Currently have a 2013 GS in family with 250k miles and 2002 4Runner with almost 500k 😯 Have drained and refilled trans fluid every 50k. Both cars shift like new. Hope Mazda remedies this problem, since it sounds like you’ve been a loyal customer. If not I would suggest a different dealer or a new brand next time around.

Bro you win. The funny thing that after you mention you had so many mazdas and living in the same area for 20 years with same driving habbits. You have 2 exact mazdas😂

Moral of the story: for any new car you buy, drive a number of models to get to know the car...then drive the exact car you are intending to purchase before you purchase.

That's usually the case, but since Covid, certain models sell so fast, you may not have time to do so. I've had Mazdas sold out from under me while I was in the middle of negotiating. 😁

Ok, you’re in the unique position to be the best judge of an issue since you own 2 of the same cx-5. Now you have me worried my 22 turbo has this issue. I’m new to Mazda and with what I perceive as turbo lag could be this issue.
@VacLab
@VacLab 3 месяца назад
I just got rid of my 2022 CX-5 Turbo that I made a few videos of. It was fine over the 2 years I leased it. Turbo lag and missing/skipping gears are totally different things.

Bummer! Did you get a new one under warranty?
@UnionAdvocate

@@VacLab Yes, but i’m highly unlikely to keep the car after my extended warranty expires next May. Probably going back to Honda. You don’t hear a lot of bad things about Honda CVT, or Toyota for that matter.

Let me first say that I know nothing about cars. And this may have nothing to do with your issue, but I’m throwing it out as an idea to consider. I have a 2016 Mazda CX-9. I started to have this weird issue that as I decelerated (stepped on the brake pedal ), at about 23 miles per hour, the car jolted and then continued to smoothly come to a stop. Initially, Mazda thought the issue was with the rotors. I had a similar issue two years ago where resurfacing the rotors did seem to resolve the issue. In this case the rotors were replaced, so that couldn’t be the problem. They had my car for about a week before a technician got the idea to apply the TCM (transmission control module) relearn procedure. Lo and behold, my car now drives great! Long story short, do you think the issue is with the TCM? If so, has the dealership performed the relearn procedure? I really hope this helps resolve your issue or sparks an idea to help resolve whatever the actual issue is. This is my second Mazda. My wife drives a 2010 Mazda 3, which I refuse to sell or trade-in, because it’s simply reliable. Mazda makes some of the best looking vehicles on the road in my opinion, but I see more Toyotas, Lexus and Hondas on my daily commute. Mazda owes it to their few loyal customers to go the extra mile and make you whole. Anyway, TCM relearn procedure! Good luck!

As of today, her vehicle has been at the dealership for 1 week. No further info at this time. We have a CX-30 turbo loaner so they can keep it for as long as they need. 😁

Why do you keep asking the same question over and over when it's clearly been answered? That's literally insane.

You can make the FW6 do an initial learning without the MMDS diagnostic system. This might help.

I drive a 2023 CX-5 AWD, and the auto transmission shifts like a newbie manual driver. Doesn't matter hot or cold days, doesn't matter cold start or after 10 minutes of driving. Such a driver oriented car lmao.

Have you told your dealership about your issues? Maybe you need a reprogramming and/or replacement. CX-5's shouldn't shift poorly, especially when warmed up.

I have a brand new cx5 I bought 3 weeks ago. The transmission performance and smooth shifting is one of the reasons I bought it. NOW that said the car only has 200 miles on it. But it does not have cylinder deactivation or I stop. They took those crappy features out in late 2023 models. Look at your VIN if there is an L in the eighth position you do not have those features. According to Mazda's website, NO 2024 S model has those features. I have more detailed comment on that subject on your latest video. I mean I don't know what to say. Mine runs perfect

Remember, the correct conditions have to be met, such as cold soaking the engine initially. BTW, both my 2024's exhibit this issue. Both started skipping around 400 miles and both have a manufacture date of 11/23.
