fr tho, especially a 720s or senna. salomondrins 720s caught fire and burnt up pretty much all the way just a few weeks after he got it, completely stock too. theyre way to unreliable for the price imo, a huracan with a supercharger or turbos is so much better bang for buck.

Oil line? I would hope so but I fear not. There was something flying from the car, which could have been a turbo impeller. That would explain the debris, oil and fire. I bet turbo. It was way too quiet for a piston that really needed that fresh California air.

​@@TheRealTomLauda Oil is cooling and lubricating the turbos (unless you have ceramic bearing turbos, but those have other issues). Most probably the oil bearing had an issue (oil starved seems most probable), causing an uneven running impeller. The shaft might have snapped and the impeller was stuck. Since the shaft is oil lubricated lots of oil went flying everywhere. Through the extreme forces caused by the exhaust and the oil now splashed everywhere the impeller got loose and flew away. [TL;DR]: Witnessed a similar mishap before. Actually had this happen on a friend's Audi, on the Autobahn. The impeller was easy to spot in the dark, among glowing catalyser pieces it had smashed through. The whole Autobahn was closed and cleaned with oil sand and special cleaning cars. Was quite spectacular at 2am in the morning. [/TL;DR] What is the worst thing you can do when you have turbos: Drive at high RPMs and don't let the turbo cool down before you shut off the engine. The oil is only pumped through the turbo if the car is running. If the car is switched off with a hot turbo the oil will bake and clog the small holes in the oil lubricated shaft (oil bearing). Over time, and with enough build-up this will cause catastrophic failures. To avoid this just drive the car at really low RPMs (1-2k at low load) the last few kilometers / miles and let the air cool down the turbo. And... well... we all watched the videos. I bet you the cars are properly warmed up (mostly, DAVE!), but more often than not are being shut off within minutes after a pull ;) (See the Aperta)

@@milanbasati4464 Yes true, but when P14 turbos fail they usually just snap the shaft and send the exhaust turbine down the exhaust. Plus no oil or fire came out of the exhaust pipe after failure.

@@andrew_kershaw Trust me, I've blown like 19 or so turbos in the past. I've once had my turbo shoot up too +100 psi from my tuned +20 psi. Had shot my entire 60 psi of oil that was ready to cool my turbo from the bottom of my oil sump.

When I had my engine built I got back home and had a miss, pulled the hood and fuel was spraying out a cracked fuel line, hence my new love of fire extinguishers

When there's too much crap in the engine oil, due to overuse, two things happen, its density decreases, and due to the crap, the turbo's turbine starts to wear up, and then get blown out.
