I am using it for the sport of falconry. I will be hunting with a hawk :) It is not a pet, it is a wild animal that has a choice to go back to the wild every time I go hunting with it. It learns that it is easier to hunt with me than by itself.
Hi, In the video you mention that you will monitor wether the Hawk likes the turf or manila rope on the perch. So what was your findings? I’m starting with a Harris Hawk. Please let me know.
Great mews! I've just finished with mine, and I'm getting my hawk in two weeks, male redtail. I'm British so my bird has been bred not from the wild. Good luck with your hawk!

123ilovelax this iz summin we both have in common !! I do falconry im british but yeah. I have snakez aswell haha ball python and a corn. I have a harris hawk alot of people will doubt you. Dont let it get you down. You can do it !! X
thank you for the example i was going to build this specific mews but it costs too much money so i build one sort of like this one but i built it with pallets for my 1.2 kilogram female jackel buzzard. keep in touch
Christine I first want to thank you for sharing with us. That being said You need to know how to use a camera. You Must move slowly to allow the camera to focus - its not like our eyes. You need to walk slowly for same reasons and speak slowly to enunciate your words and be able to be understood. Just some helps to remember for your next videos. Awesome Mews though would like to have seen it in focus and slowly though.
Hawks only fly if they need resources such as food and water.When you see a hawk hovering ahead you, it is looking for food. Hawks don't fly for "fun".. it burns calories they need to survive. I will be giving my hawk a chance EVERYDAY to fly if he is at the correct weight. I tether the bird to ensure that he does not damage his feathers and that training goes as smooth as possible. I will wake up, weigh him, put him out in the weathering yard, come home from school, and go hunting with him.
Ohhh, like those videos where the foreigners take hawks out to kill rabbits and fox? What will you be hunting? Is it for food consumption or just sport?

That's true. I spent a lot of time planning my mews, so building it was very quick! I am probably going trapping within the next couple weeks, can't wait! Are there a lot in MA? I know in CT there are like 6 active falconers. My sponsor runs a blueberry farm and uses his saker hybrid for bird abatement.
did you ever get a sponsor? I'm looking for one myself. already bought the wood and 90 percent of all the equipment and made equipment myself. Just need someone to pick me up!
dustin shamp, yes, I have a sponsor now. Take the test first, it shows sponsors you dedicated. Then talk to your state association, they will put the word out that your looking for a sponsor.
Haha yeah that is why I have rushed everything! I passed my test in September! Does your passage trapping season end January 25th too? I am hoping to be able to catch a female passage RT because I want to be able to go after squirrels and not worry to much about her toes. What do you plan on hunting for?
Hey Raymundo Rosario I am a apprentice falconer and you will need to find a sponsor local around you. Then you will need to study and get ready to send in your application and your fee(depending on your state) once you do that a game warden will be issued a time and date of your choice to give you your test after that a game warden will be issued with a time and day of your choice to take your mew exam after that your sponsor will give you your license
That's cool but it's not very nice to tether a hawk up for say 3 or 4 house cusse in the wild it would be free and flying anywhere it wanted too but great video nice mew aswell
