Totally agree with keyboards & mouses. People use them every damn day & nobody cares that those are crap. I come to every new office with my own stuff & people look at me like I'm a weirdo :) Fot me it's the opposite. They are crazy if they are not willing to invest 20-30 USD into a decent keyboard that they are going to use every day!

Totally agree here! There are so many people who just sort of settle with the free stuff. There are things worth paying for to improve quality of life.

I fully Agree. I own 1 pair of pants and a couple of shirts but my camera equipment takes up half my apartment.

I'm someone who really enjoys collecting stuff, but don't really have the money to buy good equipment. What I end up doing is investing most of my time in hobbies looking for ways to make my stuff better for my standards, and then just sticking with it. I find life to be much more enjoyable this way. For example, I have a kind of fixation on atomic purple clear plastic things (like the purple gameboy colour), and I had this pen that I didn't like the looks of and didn't really fit my ergonomics, so I designed and let a company print a custom body for it! It's actually pretty cheap compared to getting a new pen and I learned the skills I needed to do it specifically for this project. It really taught me a lesson on how well I can make my stuff myself.

My hobbies are art books and art supplies, which does get a bit annoying whenever I have to move

Problem is that even the "best stuff" kinda sucks now

If you find that's the case then what I do is opt for the point of diminishing returns. Name anything, there's something out there that's the point of diminishing returns. Headphones, HD6xx. Cast iron pan, Lodge.

Only keep that which makes you happy or something that serves an important purpose Only keep the best of said item. Remove anything else. ie. instead of keeping a bunch of mediocre pans just keep your absolute best. Don’t keep your “OK’ items. Keep your best. If said item can be found in a smaller size and/or a more beautiful/aesthetic way, keep that instead. If you haven't used an item for a really long time - think about if you really need it. Sell, donate or throw away. Often it's easier just to donate it as selling can be a real hassle. Try to limit duplicates, ie 3 usb cables of the same type, etc. Remove extra forks, extra pans, extra dishes, extra bowls. You only need to keep enough for 1 week of dishwashing cycle for family and guests. Sunk cost fallacy: If you always worry about how much you paid for something crappy you'll never properly declutter. Stow away and then remove. ie. Place your most used kitchen items on your top drawer and your least used on the bottom drawer. Over time, remove everything that you don't use, etc. The 20-20 decluttering rule says that if you can replace something for less than $20 and in under 20 minutes, it can safely be decluttered. Three Laws of Minimalism: I. If an object is not useful, it should be removed. II. If an object's function is not active, it should not be visible. III. If two or more objects can be combined into one seamlessly, they should. One in and one out only applies to items of the same type.
