Thanks! I finally took the plunge and got a kit. Cut a few trees so far. The kit will pay for itself in no time. I really appreciate you helping me get started.

I like the rescue ready mini eye-to-eye webbing slings. Did you sew them yourself? I haven't been able to find any for purchase.
@SorenSatellit
@SorenSatellit 4 года назад
Hi Tim! Lock fore a "Quickdraw Sling". You need a short one (10-12cm). It's usually used in rock climbing, where a carabiner is then placed at each end. In the past, you could not buy them without carabiner. The one I use now is called "DMM Nylon Sling with retainer" Safe stay!
@timl3918
@timl3918 4 года назад
@@SorenSatellit Thanks Soren! I found the DMM version. I also found Petzl makes something similar, an 11cm "Express Quickdraw Sling". I ordered them both, and until they arrive, I repurposed a couple old Metolius Quick Draws from my rock climbing kit and will give them a try today.
@SorenSatellit
@SorenSatellit 4 года назад
@@timl3918 Hi Tim! Yes, it is good to try out some variants. I like the short / tight sling to prevent the carabiner from rattling around the D-ring!

Nice kit!I almost have all that stuff except the two Stihls. Anybody out there want to buy me a ms200t? I'm starting with an old used 18 inch Poulan wild thing and a brand new 16in 135 Husqvarna. I did get a Zubat though, that looks like an awesome tool I can't wait to use it.

I'm hoping to go to Ohio to a climbing class before I get started here at acrt. Been practicing a little bit in the backyard on their own trees as they need pruning badly, got one maple tree splitting. starting up on a new business like this arborist Tree Service does anyone know what it cost for insurance a little bit more than liability?
@SorenSatellit
@SorenSatellit 5 лет назад
Thanks James! Yes, I understand that you wish you had a saw with top handle. 201 is a fantastic saw, but I used an MS 192T until I was able to afford a 201. My 192 still runs and now it is used for pruning because 201 is too aggressive and destructive for that. Echo also have some affordable top handle saws. Stay safe!

@@SorenSatellit thanks, yes been looking a ms192 also. A buddy has one, i like it also
@SorenSatellit
@SorenSatellit 5 лет назад
@@JustJimJr ...yes, to start with a 192 can take down trees and then be great for pruning where the hand saw becomes too small!

May I ask why you choose to use square tooth chains? Just curious.
@SorenSatellit
@SorenSatellit 4 года назад
Hi Giovanni! Square Tooth cuts 25% better/faster than round chain. I only use round chain for pruning because it makes a much nicer cut.

@SorenSatellit
@SorenSatellit 6 лет назад
Thanks E Matel Blin! You can try it out! But if an accident occurs, I'm sure there is no business insurance that will cover it, because you have not performed the profession in accordance with applicable law and regulations (EU).

@emateiblin5409 6 лет назад
@@SorenSatellit Yeah... I do it for a hobby, so there‘s no need to use any gear. It is dangerous, so I try to be careful. I still admire what you do, don‘t get me wrong. I‘m just wandering if you‘ve ever climbed a tree freely, without tools.
@SorenSatellit
@SorenSatellit 6 лет назад
@@emateiblin5409 Yes, it happens sometimes that I climb as if I had no equipment, even though I'm still insured in one way or another. It can happen during pruning where we don't use stikes. It's a beautiful feeling when the tree is created as a natural ladder. The best climbers are those who learn to climb before they use stikes ... with the climbing you know, you can definitely get far in this profession, if you simultaneously could secure yourself during the climb. If something matters ...take care!

Ive been climbing trees my whole life started as a really young boy. Got involved with tree servicing and learned to climb with gear. It takes some getting used too but it's well worth it. Need to use the proper gear to make money doing tree work/what you enjoy.
