@if it ain't foreign it's borin Depends on a few different things. It really isn't that hard and you could probably do it yourself. Buy an oem gasket and but in some arp headstuds. Cost you like 200 bucks and take about a day.
Man I really feel you when you said you were nervous. My 8 is finally finishing up this week and my dad and I rebuilt motor and put different intake mani ic piping speed density big turbo and mani. I’m shitting bricks my man, I changed so much stuff and I’m so nervous to have that turn over.
You knocked that out really fast, well done. Quality job. I've done this on my EG and my 2G. Bisimoto's shop seems really awesome! he even gave you a table! the egg carton is brilliant
Hey buddy sorry abt this but I’m excited it happen cause I’m sending my stock 2.0l non turbo rs for head gasket can I have a list what all I can fix after head gasket since there taken out the motor and I can just add more parts I’m trying to rebuild the engine and all under hood before my looks out side wise interior will be under construction too
Have a pretty modified Gst but having some over heating problems and was wondering if you had oil leaking from the side of the block and front where the block connects to the head
The Joy's of owning a DSM right? It's a good thing they are so much fun when they're running to make up for all the $hit you have to deal with. Keep it up bro
Banger your videos are great because you show the ups and the downs you go thru with these cars keep up the awesome work big ups to bisimoto for being a great resource for the channel lately good to see car guys help each other out
I’ll always try to be transparent with everything! No car is perfect, but I’ll try my best to improve them every time. Bisi is also a big help along with everyone else in there
@@MiguelDsm that's why I like your channel most car channels only show you the good stuff not the hard work it took to get there or what happens when it breaks you show both and the fun you have with your homies working on the cars
Condolences and thanks for filming the process! Learning from you. If you're ever stranded in the Alhambra area, DM me. I feel bad watching you break down on the road. My head gasket went while on the 710N at the Cesar Chavez exit on an uphill incline. Embarrassing moment and held up traffic until a flatbed arrived.
Now that you know how to do a head gasket you can actually look for cars with a blown one. It's usually a great deal: you can get them for dirt cheap, it can be done in 2 to 3 days, it's a $100/$300 fix if the head isn't wraped and even if it is, it still worths doing the repair depending on the car. Some people says head gasket are a pen in the ass but I disagree, it's a great way to put the head and valves back in shape and it's easier than a clutch because you don't need to work underneath the car.
What!? No post head gasket leak down test!?! Man you better do it in the next pre dyno video atleast 🤣 I'm kidding man. Good shit. Your car will be fine on the dyno.
Great video. And as far as the head gasket goes better to get it done now then finding out when you don’t know it. I also have to get my gsx dynode think I’m having the same problem as you are though 😂 😅
I was worried until you showed the lifters soaking in oil, pump those things up. Just something I always do when I start my car after pulling things apart or its been sitting for a minute I disable spark and crank it to get oil primed.
I think I heard you say "thermal intake manifold gasket", that's the plasticy one right? I know on a DSM you need to block the EGR port to use it or it will melt the gasket, I'd assume it's the same on an Evo.
I’m certain the dyno won’t be bad you guys always seem to put a lot of work and effort into your builds where others just slap it in and call it good. My guess is going to be somewhere at 340Hp
I was really tempted about a year ago when I saw a gsx for $800 with relatively minor problems. Then I remembered $800 for the car, plus $2k to get it running well plus, $5k to actually get it running well, plus $8-10k to make sure it keeps running well, plus $3-5k to make it look decent, plus another $3-5k to mod and modernize it, and finally another few grand every few months for the rest of the time I own the car, because there will be problems. On Bob if I ever win a big lotto bet on me having a gsx, FD rx7, and an AWD old yota in the driveway. Till then though...
It’s funny when it isn’t happening to me. Twice on my integra I had to do this within 2 months . Second time valve broke and the gears in the distributor broke teeth. I repaired it got it tuned and sold it
So you primed the lifters in oil before you installed them??? I’ve been told this is a big no no.Always bleed them after to make sure they are soft if they go in with too much oil you can bend the valves.
My uncle is selling his old 99 gsx setup pretty crazy for autocross, I want to buy it so bad but it's been sitting for 5 years and is in another province.... So so tempting for the price
hi man, I love these 2g eclipse’s but I’m from the UK and they were never sold over here... do you think one of these could be imported over here??🤷♂️
Yo that’s so crazy bro I was just at that machine shop for a sesh the other day lolllll! Small world. We gotta link and do a shoot sometime bro I got some 3000gts and a 3rd gen eclipse
Every time I see your DSM i get pissed off more and more, just for the fact that my younger brother lost his 98 because of last 2 missed payments on a loan for 800 bucks. I could've been driving that beauty here in Sin City!
I wondered if that was what happened during the shoot. You played it off like a pro. 😉 Side question, what aren’t you running the Carbonetics AB V2 good anymore?
If the car is built right, then no worries should occur running on the dyno. But running a car that long after so much hard work on a base map tune that runs bad, with a half radiator i may add is asking for trouble. I would have never risked that chance after all that work.
I was afraid of that on the photo shoot our engine's is so touchy when it comes to over heating that if you bury it in the red consider the gasket cooked.
@@MiguelDsm consider it a good thing Miguel now you know the head gasket is good plus you had a five angle valve job done on one side so this may even help with a power boost.
@@MiguelDsm I heard the arp can be reused, don't if that correct or not. My Gst maybe has a blown head gasket, I will find out one day, and if it's confirmed I will have to decide if I will reuse or not my arp bolts/studs.
You waited too long and hit it while it was un tuned that could have put stress on the cylinder 3 and the head gasket it may no seem that it never overheat but it could have just doit while it was under too much stress
