My Mom Fits My Pointe Shoes 

wait STOP IT. i’ve chronically been so difficult to fit because i have super contradictory feet, but i happened to make a fitting appt with grace like two weeks ago. i kid you not within less than 5 mins of looking at my feet and hearing my explanation, she fit me in probably the best fit shoes i’ve worn thus far. she was amazing 😭

Grace is a legend here in San Diego. We all have the choice to go to the cheap retailer where you are being fitted by some very young and inexperienced people. And as an adult non professional I got looked at as an amateur who has no business picking up pointe shoes. But then there is Dancer's Choice, where all dancers are welcome without judgement. And we are so glad you have stayed. During the worst of the lock down times, your store was the one place we still went, because ballet carried our girls through it all. Thank you for your dedication and innovation and never giving up on all dancers.

Josephine we did not sign the permission slip for this feels trip! I was totally unprepared!!

Whaaaat???? I can't believe I found this...Grace fit MY point shoes in 2004 when I was 12!!!! I used to dance at Ballet Conservatory with Miss Marie and Miss Julie. I'm so glad you guys are doing so well!!! God bless!

Grace was the first good fitter I went to and it made a tremendous difference in my adult pointe journey. Her tights are my favorite and I have like 20 pairs of them! Also so wonderful to see what a healthy and supportive relationship you two have :)

You two are just the most amazing people! I recently started shopping at Dancer’s Choice and every single time Grace is there to provide assistance and offer her advice. I always look forward to my visits at Dancer’ Choice not only for the pointe shoes and leotards, but for Grace’s warm welcomes. Everything about this store is what a dancer dreams of! Walking through Dancer’s Choice is the equivalent to prancing through wonderland! So thank you Grace and Josephine for everything you do for us dancers!! ❤️

I grew up in Southern California (714 in the house!) and this really touches me in a huge way. The one thing a lot of people don't realize is how big the Asian community is, but how many of us own our own businesses that became staples of our communities. It is wonderful to see two generations of strong women continuing this legacy. I loved ballet as a kid, and still love it today. I enjoy your channel because it takes me back to those days, and gives me a glimpse of home even though I'm very far away now.

Gosh this made me well up with tears so many times! Thank you for sharing her story. Her shop featured in this video looked amazing. I worked in a dance store when I was in my twenties and learned how to fit pointe shoes. I really enjoyed learning about fitting and wished I had a more in depth knowledge than what I did then. There is a science behind fitting well for each individual dancer. Its wonderful that you honored your Mom's dedication and legacy in her community and to you! Bravo.

Your mom is the sweetest person. I used to be in her shop all the time with my youngest daughter. Having danced myself I could tell your mom knew what she was doing and she was always so patient in going through different shoes when nothing seemed to be working.
