The USA E.A.S. tone sounds the way it does because it contains data that is decoded by specially built receivers like NOAA weather radios or EAS Encoders that decode that data. The data contained in those tones are for what area the warning is for, the effective time, EAS alert code Example: TOR: Tornado Warning, and who issued it. For those who were curious :3
As a very proud canadian, I have recently discovered that the EAS alarm is very loud. Like VERY loud. It always scares me when it plays cause I'm in an EAS phase, so I recognize a lot of EAS alarms. Just to realize its a test or an amber alert. Never an earthquake or smth.
