That mom put time and effort into something for the daughter that she loves. It could have been made out of burlap sack for all l care. The gorgeousness of this dress isn’t the look by itself. It’s the fact that she has a mom that gives up hours and hours of her time for her child. I’m 60 and my mom made my prom dress for me and it was absolutely amazing. Not just because of the way it looked but because it took her WEEKS to make.

I think that dress is actually way better than anything you'd see in a high-end designer boutique! Your mum is one incredibly talented lady, and you are a very lucky daughter.

I made my best friend a custom wedding dress. All the supplies were less than $100 (which is pretty typical for most wedding dresses sold in stores). I did it as a wedding gift for her. There's no reason why a person shouldn't be able to afford the dress of their dreams just because of the cost of the word "wedding". My dress, which I bought, fit me (impressive because I was a 00) and only cost $109.75. Keep in mind most dresses are made with slave labor (sweat shops), and the supplies are purchased in bulk. Most wedding dresses probably only cost $20-40 to make, then the shops sell them for thousands. All because of the word "wedding".

I handmade my own wedding dress and it was months of work and I'd charge thousands too if I were to make dresses like that to sell. Other people doing "slave labor" is the very reason why clothing should be MORE expensive, not less.
You’re so very lucky to have spent such precious time and moments with your mother. The dress you created together should be a family heirloom to be passed along from bride to bride. That dress is something born to be a tradition. Narcissistic mothers would also do this, so that they look good and get the credit and many many compliments. Let's not judge, without knowing; that enables abusers and denies victims. My mother has done similar things and also destroyed my chance, to have a healthy life. I hope this woman, does have a loving mother, but let's not assume. My sister, in fact, did make my wedding dress. Certainly not on this grand scale and she's covertly abused me, all along.
You can tell that her mom made her entire dress with love. Everything even down to the last stitch is so in place. It is extremely gorgeous. Love the dress! :)

Way back in 1988-89 my Mom, my Mother in law and I went to the fabric store and picked out the materials I loved and my Mother in law went about making it for me!!!! No plans or designs. Just what she came up with in her own imagination. It was incredibly beautiful and special as well! ❤️
