I’m wondering if your mum has seen Forestella, a crossover group and are multi-genre and multi lingual…their English singing is great and excel at each one they’ve performed. They covered so Fake Love by BTS at the MAMA AWARDS , MAMA by EXO, Smooth Criminal by MJ, TIME IN A BOTTLE by Jim Croce, Je Suis Malade ..Lara Fabian cover, Bad Romance by Lady Gaga, Lazenca, Save Us by N.EX.T, …and a 500year + Old folk song Scarborough Fair.. They have a less conventional genesis than most and I promise will surprise you. They refuse to be confined to a particular genre label and often mix genres like in Time in a Bottle. Their stage presence is quite a thing. I suggest you check them out first… if you don’t like what you see ..don’t react 😅.Other genres like Despacito, Bohemian Rhapsody, We are the Champions, The Show Must Go On….this one as trio as bass is in military service.They are winners of a record 6 consecutive Immortal Songs King Of Kings trophies, with Ateez being their biggest rivals and admirers too…you can see them watching on Forestella performance videos😅 Their music is evolving over time and if you’re into m/vs their original Save our Lives and Utopia in this order as there are chapters are masterpieces..again not your average m/v.

At BTS LasVegas day 3 and 4, I met several people from different age group from teens to mid 70s and from different States and countries like Japan, the Netherlands, Philippines, Indonesia, Canada and China.
She perfectly described what makes ATEEZ "ATEEZ." Their identity as a group is so clear and strong yet it never undermines their identity as individuals and the colors each member brings to the front to create that combined identity. Their stage presence is unlike any other. All groups are ambitious in their own way, of course, but there's a a real relentless/restless hunger driving everything ATEEZ does that I think is what gives them that extra "edge" and attitude that you were both trying to explain. Loved this! I hope she gets to discover more of ATEEZ and sees them live in concert because why not! It's a fun time!
This is what I literally tell everyone, they have such synergy with each other they have a clear identity as a group even though they can do different sounds or concepts it’s always going to have their core identity and as individuals they are different and ea member earned their spot and brings something different! Honestly they are pretty special😂 makes K-pop so much fun for me tbh
The stage belongs to Shinee. They are simply legendary artists born to perform on stage. And I’m very glad that you showed live performance and not MV. Thank you! For me, none of their MVs convey their charisma as much as their performance on stage.
Shinee is insanely stacked in terms of skills anyways (like all the respect to all the other amazing kpop groups but it took me weeks of listening to Shinee group and solo tracks to realize how insane it is that these guys are in a group!) but it's the first music group (western or kpop) where I hear live songs and they sound BETTER than the studio versions. Especially everything Onew. That's just madness 😅

I started listening to Shinee because of Taemin and to be honest, not all of their songs were “my cup of tea”, especially the old ones, but that was only until I watched their live performances and now there are no songs that I don’t like or don’t listen to. Even , rin ding dong, if it is a live performance, I listen and sing. 😂And I try not to miss streaming of all Shinee concerts from Universal Music Japan, which sometimes spoil us and give us the opportunity to watch concerts for free.
@@avotiaYeah totally on the 'not my cup of tea initially'! I really JUST started listening to Kpop when someone said 'check out Shinee' and I gave em 2 listens and meh... 'I'm not looking for this type of music'. And only way later when someone sent me a behind the scenes for the 'don't call me' comeback (I love seeing how music is made) did I suddenly start liking the newer tracks and from there it has been like peeling back an onion. Whenever I thought I'd seen everything and understood Shinee there is another layer and another solo outing that sound COMPLETELY different from anything before 😄😄

I would looove to see you react the whole concert Shinee World IV with your mum. It is iconic, and that energy they give from beginning to end, charming the audience to it knees in their mends. And as a btw; Onew, Key and Taemin has been acting in musicals, All of them having been acting in movies and Kdrama series (especially Minho-quite a famous actor), and all of them ( including Jonghyun) have some major degree in music and theatre. Their vocals though......unique tone of vocals each one of them, and together they make magic!! To me they will always be unmatched.
Sadly that was unavoidable because txt were the first artist under bighit (now hybe corp; bts and txt r under bighit music) after BTS so media and people in general said that about them. But now its obvious that BTS is BTS and txt is txt. They r themselves with their own identities and distinct discographies/sound

As an Atiny I love what she said about Ateez because it's so true. They are barely getting big in S.Korea and for most of their early years they weren't noticed much in their country. They were always hungry and determined even when they had limited resources. They work hard and now it's amazing seeing them succeed and get what they deserve. They are and will always be unapologeticly Ateez. More Ateez pls ❤❤

I am an older (well in my 30s) kpop fan and I'm totally a Shinee fan but honestly? It wasn't love at first sight. It kind of took me weeks to slowly discover how musically diverse Shinee is and how varied and experimental their tracks are ('Hard' is a dam assault on your musical sensibilities! It just also sounds great 😋). And I think I agree that these are qualities that generally older audiences look for more.

SHINee’s fanbase actually is diverse.. especially for a group that came from years earlier. From teens to seniors.. well they have tons kids too but probably mainly coz their older gens are Shawols… but yup they capture a range of age demographic.

Your mom would always mention Michael Jackson, and I'd like to tell her that Sherlock (Clue + Note) the one SHINee performed was choreographed by Tony Testa who also was Michael Jackson's choreographer. It was said that Sherlock was the most expensive choreography in Kpop that time. Please show your mom more of SHINee live performances (if possible with Jonghyun). Thank you.
Wow! The way she immediately got Ateez's concept and understood their energy and what they represent. She's very perceptive and also shows how Ateez has perfected their group identity. Like how she pointed out they don't really focus on dancing synchronized. A signature of Ateez's choreography is how they don't really dance the same movements but form a tableau of different movements that are connected and create a scene. This was so interesting, love seeing how non-fans react, and she was so into it. She actually paid attention and described all the groups with nice details. More mom reactions!

Onew & Key have been in many musicals. As well as tv shows. Taemin is Michael Jackson’s son. Legit. MJ was his idol and you can see it all over his dancing.

Thankyou for throwin some respect on SHINee 's name. They are an older group now and I feel they don't get highlighted so much anymore. At least if not actively searching for them. Love the reaction! SHINEE are kings! Jonghyun is the one that's no longer with us. Onew is out on hiatus at the moment currently. This performance is ICONIC. This arrangement is one of the best. Their stage presence and vocal tones do as you say, show maturity. They've been around since 2008 and still active. They work hard and their discography shows it. :)

Also love how Atz being from a small budgeted group and in the game for only 5 years your mom picked to go to their concert second to (only next to) shinee. The craziest thing about the RunBTS performance was that they made and practiced that choreography for that one performance, and it was a free open air concert in Busan that was a very hot ticket to try and get. But the fact that that is the one and only performance of that song…they didn’t have to go so hard!
I love how your Mom describes ATEEZ. I think she really hit the nail right from the beginning. This is what makes Ateez Ateez. They way they perform. Their music. Their performances. The way they are styled. And yes they are still hungry for more. To achieve more. To be more known. Especially in their own country. They slowly start to get more recognized in SK.
The issue with showing new people Shinee I find (and your mom has a really honest and fitting reaction), is that Shinee is so experimental that most of their songs and solo tracks over the 15 years sound very different. And if you hear Shinee on release singing 'Replay', later 'Lucifer', then 'Sherlock' and then 'Don't Call me' and 'Hard' those are such different sounds that I think it's genuinely hard to show a newcomer what Shinee is about and show how stacked Shinee is as a group 😅😅

That was cute, loved that she enjoyed all groups and they were all able to represent what is so good about them on the stage for her to connect with their personality. All groups have their own flavour on stage, is just about preference. As an atiny I am glad she enjoyed Ateez and liked their performance too, they love being on stage and trully shine there. BTW that Shinee performance is iconic.
I think it would be fun for your mom to watch the Suchwita episodes with Taemin and with the TXT boys. Your comment about work ethic reminds me of the latest Suchwita episode, where Jung Yonghwa told Suga about his impression of his first encounter with BTS. He asked them, what do you do on your day off? And they answered, we write songs, we work. That impressed him because some of the other junior groups would say, we don't get day offs, they don't allow us to hang out. Jung Yonghwa knew then BTS would make it big.
Next time you have Mom, I really suggest watching Taemin’s “Move”, and BtoB- perhaps start with their Killing Voice. Both of those are loved by everyone I have shown them to- many ages. Plus please start doing reactions here more :)

Full disclosure that I'm probably older than your Mom and I'm a Shawol (SHINee's fandom name). I found SHINee purely by accident and they're the group that introduced me to KPop. Key designed the stage costumes that you saw, that performance was the opening of a concert and they kept that energy going for close to 3 hours! Also, Key and Onew have been in musicals, Minho is a prolific actor, Key and Taemin have acted and Jonghyun was in some sketch comedies. That's part of the reason they have such massive stage presence. So much more to say, but I'll stop before this becomes an essay😄

I knew about KPop for years, but didn't look at it until 2022 when YT showed me Astro, BTS, EXO, among others (all great groups). But SHINee hooked me with their obvious talent, their great harmonies and the RnB base. Finally, their personalities sealed it for me.🥰

I would recommend checking out the different subgroups like NCT 127, NCT Dream, WAYV, and NCT WISH so as not to overwhelm yourself but once you've got all the members down, that would really be impressive :)) (and you can also check out RIIZE. There are ex-NCT members that redebuted in a different group) 24:18 I would just like to brag about the fact that I got to see this live!! ATEEZ never fails to impress! While other groups would split up their given time with some minigames and activities to give themselves a little rest between songs, ATEEZ really spent the entire time they were given to perform for the ENTIRE thing. There were some members who had freshly dyed hair and they were so tired that they started sweat the dye off their head. That's real commitment for sure!
Just a correction, Jonghyun was never the leader of SHINee, he did take the lead in speaking a lot and he was the main vocal but he was not the leader. It was always Onew. As an aside SHINee now considers themselves all to be the vocalists.

First, as a mother myself, I think having your mom as a guest is the sweetest thing. And as an Atiny (Ateez fans) I loved the way she felt Ateez. I found Kpop in my 50s (I'm 53 now), and become their fan so fast for the same things she saw and appreciated. They are also great, kind, humble, nice people. If she ever wants very adult kpop buddies, let her know I'm here 💜
