Good morning Dr. Alexis Stephens. I hope you are doing well. If no one you told today, you are appreciated! Thank you for taking the time out to make these videos.
Thank you for all your post. I am am a 55+ woman living in Northern Virginia and it is a challenge to find a dermatologist who specializes in black skin care. Your videos help me so much. So, again Thank You!
It blows my mind that people do skincare before brushing their teeth. I always think about that good skincare getting mixed in with mint and fluoride. I’m so happy you mentioned this.
Dr. Alexis, I've been watching your channel for nearly a year. First, I would like to thank you for the wealth of valuable information that you provide to your viewers. Secondly, it's a lot of products! A lot of products, but the understand that everything is not for every skin type or condition. Therefore, it would be really nice having a chart or list of regimens and alternatives with a breakdown of the most recommended "GoTo" ingredients for aging and hyperpigmented skin...PLEASE, that would just be awesome! I really enjoy watching your channel, as it clean, professional and extremely organized, I am one who truly appreciate these attributes. However, I am not one to run out and buy everything I see or hear about. As well, I am a hard sell, I purchase what I need when it's necessary. So, a list or chart will be well accepted! Thank you kindly, and I wish you much grace and many blessings with career and family, this channel and your practices!🙏🏼
My grandmother spent so much money on laser when all i needed was this , I would have have been dangerous in high school if i found a routine like this bit its cool because im 33 now and I know what to do now, thank you so much
I would love to see a skin care routine for someone with very sensitive skin who cannot use retinol or anti-aging products or Vitamin C. I am a senior citizen and have begun to look older than many Black women my age.
Yep agree and it's frustrating having sensitive skin. Personally have slowly added products with bakuchiol not as good as retinol but at least we sensitive skins can get some of the benefits. I have been able to use Naturiums Azeliec Acid emulsion daily which has both Azeliec Acid and bakuchiol (websites ingredients list it as bio available retinol aka natural) Paula's choice has the discoloration repair serum and has other melasma helping ingredients. I have not tried the Paula's choice bakuchiol yet as you know once we find a product that works for our skin scary to switch to another. My hope is after using bakuchiol for a while I can move up to a stronger form of retinol. I would be further on my journey but my city Target stores stopped carrying Naturiums Azeliec Acid emulsion only has it on there website
I absolutely love the Cotz mineral sunscreen! I have tried so many sunscreens & Cotz works the absolute best for me. I haven’t ever seen a dermatologist or beauty channel show it. I thought I was keeping a well-kept secret, lol :) Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us! 😊
I discovered cyspera through you and really helped get rid of melasma! I haven’t done the maintenance phase so it kinda darkened up a bit but I’m excited to see these products in your routine! Can’t wait to look them up thank you ☺️
In researching products to eliminate darkness around my mouth and cheeks, I stumbled on your site. As a black woman, discovering a black dermatologist was golden. Can you give me your opinion on Meladerm and Agelyss for hyperpigmentation? I've narrowed my research to these 2 products but they are both expensive and I don't want to waste my money. I suspect that you've recommended many products over the years. Today, can you give me a list of morning and evening hyperpigmentation products that you'd recommend for mature black skin? I think my dark patches are caused by medication and also spending a few weeks in the scorching sun in Israel. I did wear sunscreen but noticed the dark veil around my mouth and cheeks become more pronounced around the time of this trip. Thank you.
Ahh the peri-oral darkness, so pervasive. I also love the “my glasses touching the bridge of my nose causing hyperpigmentation”The struggle is real when these melanocytes get too revved up 😢
Hi Dr. Alexis, which do you like or performs better, that mask or the Cyspera one you also talk about?! So grateful for your content and proud of your knowledge! 🙏🏽
Hello!! I’ve been subscribed for a long time and I was just wondering if you’ve ever done a video about a skincare routine during colder months for melanated skin. Thank you so much for all that you’ve done already your tips are amazing
Your skin is amazing.. I love your channel, but I be overwhelmed because you mention so many good products. I'm always reluctant to try so many products😫 however, I do have a prescribed Azleaic Acid😊
Hi Dr Stephens, I would love to see a video on hidradenitis suppurativa, how to treat the flares and the hyperpigmentation that it leaves behind. Thanks for all the info you share with us ❤❤❤
Thank you for the video! I always learn so much. I would like to learn more about why we should or should use these types of things on or around our eyes. I noticed that you didn’t put anything on or below your eyebrows or under your eyes.
Good afternoon Dr. Stephens👑❤️Thank you again for these awesome jewels💎you be dropping. You disappoint💯👌🏽I thank God for blessing the fruit of your work, knowledge, your business, this channel and you as a person🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽I love it here🥰❤️😘
Thank you Dr. Alexis! These close-ups are great!!!! Are Dermatica providers going to consult with the subscriber virtually? Also, can you speak about laser resurfacing for melanated women who want to prevent festoons and malar bags; is it safe? Is there a skin type that tolerates it best? Thank you for making such fantastic content!
So happy to watch another video of yours! Could u do a video on office procedures that address hyperpigmentation and are safe for POC? Could u recommend a tinted SPF with a matte/satin finish? I have combo/oily skin. Thank you
Gm! My son is suffering from Tinea Versicolor. We’ve beeen to the dermatologist and they prescribed a anti fungal cream but it keeps coming back. Any idea who’s to get rid it permanently?
I am a black woman around I'd say Beyoncé complexion. I was prescribed Dermatica Tretnoin and Azelaic acid. And I gave it a try for about 4 months. But my face was break out city. I did notice that it did get rid of my hyperpigmentation and made my skin firmer. BUT. My skin was constantly breaking out. So I told them and they lowered my Tretnoin and put it with niacinamide instead. I haven't been as consistent with using it because I'm still trying let the pimple scars go away. I will say though that is no longer breaks me out as much. So perhaps Tret and Azelaic acid was too strong a combo for me.
I just want to say thank you so much for your videos they have really helped me and I have learned so much! I would love to hear your opinion on Growth Factors, cold and hot compressing for cystic pimples(i do this and find it works super well but im so afraid im doing damage in the long run), and id love for you to share recipes from your non-inflamatory diet. Thank you again❤
Your content has provided a wealth of information, so thank you very much. I would like to know your thoughts on this new trend of applying an ointment like vasaline or aquaphor to your skin after completing your nightly routine. I would also be interested in seeing a video on the cosmetics/makeup that you use? Your make up is so natural and beautiful on your skin.
You didn’t apply make up, which of course can be eliminated with great skin. However, if you were going to wear makeup, would there be any products you would eliminate in your morning routine to be less oily or dewy for application?
The way my oily, acne-prone 40s skin is setup, I just threw down my wallet and clicked the links in this video and purchased your Parkland Dermatology Sente mask, the Urban Skin RX hyperfade cream and the Alto defense and repair serum.
How is sente working on your skincare? I’m thinking about buying it too, I’ll start with the same routine as Dr Alexis but I don’t want to spend so much on the mask 😅
Can you do a video about Rosacea for people of color? It took 20 years for different dermatologist I saw think I have Rosacea even though I had all the signs. Thanks
Hi Dr. Alexis. There is another young derm on YT who’s content I, also, like. Her name is Stefani Kappel. She talks a lot about , non-invasive, in office procedures. I wonder if you’d consider doing a reaction video on some of these procedures( Ellora , for instance.. )in terms of their safety and effectiveness for people of color…? And people with aging skin…🤷🏽♀️
Been watching your videos for a while . Your one of the best RU-vidrs on skincare Thanks so much for sharing . Would it be possible to do something on anti aging eye care products for all the duo issues like under eye circles , puffiness etc . I don’t see you using any eye cream. ? Can we use sone of these products around the eye area too
I first want to thank you for all the amazing information and knowledge that you share, and for FREE! You are truly doing God's work, and I pray you be Blessed tremendously. I do have a few questions that I hope you might be able to touch on in one of your Q&A vids. 1.) If I want to use retinol for anti-aging and not acne, can I use one of the strong ones like Adapalene? Just wondering because you mention the stronger retinols for active acne people. 2.) Can Paula's Choice AHA/BHA, Vit. C, and retinol be used in a skin routine in the same week? 3.) Are oil based moisturizers like the ones with shea butter still good for oily/combo skin?
@@DrAlexisStephensthank you for all you do❤.. Please can tranexamic acid be combined with azelaic acid and how can I incorporate both into my routine with the cerave resurfacing retinol? Thank you 🤗
60 year old black female. I need a good moisturizer for sensitive skin, chemical free. Went to the dermatologist and she said late ached. She prescribe metronidazole. Dried my skin out. I've tried cerva, neutrogenar,av eeno, cetaphil, olay. Please 🙏 help me.
I use raw shea butter on my skin…. It does wonders for hyperpigmentation 🤷🏽♀️ and black soap (make sure the blk soap is raw meaning it doesn’t have skin lightening agents in it or fragrance)…. Thank me later👆🏽 total cost combined $11-$15 dollars…..
Dr. Alexis can you talk about the skinfix Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream with B-L3™ Comwith and the Skin Barrier Restoring Gel Cream with B-L3™ Complex. Is it good for hyperpigmentation?
