Hi, I’m a American airplane CFI in Los Angeles California , I just got a glider rating added on to my FAA certificate and love watching your videos and other European experts in gliding. Keep living the dream!

Garrett McEwen Yes, the best band I ever heard at a gliding competition!!

I remember flying in Borlange in similar conditions in a Discus. The weakest thermal I took was 3.5m, the first of the day and the days average was 4.4m with three over 6m average. Cloud base was 9,300 ft and we ripped around the 500km course at incredible speed. I will get back there one day to experience the amazing weather again.

Nice video. Watching your video's is improving my soaring. I noticed how you picked the "dome" under the developing thermals. Also your bank angle can be quite steep. Interesting to find out what sets people apart (top performers) in this sport.

I can't help but notice that all the other pilots on the podium look a lot older than you Stephan. Looks like you're keeping up well with more experienced pilots. Great work!

James Austin I think it's more a question of money than experience ;)
@SteFly
@SteFly 6 лет назад
At this competition it was really more the issue that I had not the best glider. With a competitive glider I would have won at least 2 days. And the curve of experience is very flat after more than 1600 flying hours.
@SteFly
@SteFly 6 лет назад
Only money doesn´t help without experience and talent, but at this competition all modern gliders (ASG 29; ASG 29 es; Ventus 3) were better in the final result.

@SteFly
@SteFly 6 лет назад

Very cool! It's weird that gliders use meters for altitude. Do you report meters on the radio?
@SteFly
@SteFly 6 лет назад
forfengeligfaen Usually we glider pilots use meters. If you have radio contact with a big airport, you should use feet. But usually we try to avoid too much radio contact and fly around airspaces ;)

well, the music was not the best, but awesome video. Keep going. If you buy a "Std Libelle" you can´t open the hood or what

I don't understand what you would like to ask? There is no Std. Libelle in this video and I'm also not speaking about it...

@SteFly
@SteFly 6 лет назад
@schnitzel2425
@schnitzel2425 6 лет назад
