You're so sweet to help these puppies. I'm worried about their food responses... They're so likely to be food aggressive. Please consider getting each one their own bowl, and have it be a slow feeding bowl. Like with puzzles inside so they can't inhale the food. If they each have their own bowls, you can make sure the tiny ones get their share. Such a tough situation. Good luck!

I have never seen a bunch of puppies more worthy of Harry Potter themed names than these cuties! Dobby (for the dobby eared one), Fang for the big beautiful black one, Scabbers for the mouse-like one, Pixie for the littlest one and Hedwig for the other one 👍🏻

Hey Joey you probably won’t respond but keep using the round bowl and like 4-5 small meals a day so they don’t get sick and touch them as much as possible and talk to them while eating or they will get very possessive (something I wishhh someone did with my dog and dogs at the shelter i volunteer at)

They can’t all have one bowl please. There’s already signs of resource guarding… The ones that are eating faster need resource guarding prevention work before they are adopted out. I’m sure wagmore works with someone who can tell you what to do. I am a certified dog behaviorist FWIW

Thank you for saving these pups!! We’re currently fostering a four month old pup with PRAA. His aorta is wrapped around his esophagus & he’s very underweight. He’s scheduled for surgery this Monday 4/17 to hopefully correct his aorta and solve his issues with eating. Please send good vibes for our little guy 🙏🏻 It’s always so hard to foster sick pups. I'd start feeding them separately and like 1/4 of it at a time till they realize they don't have to worry about food.

Very small amounts of food to start with. They will get really sick if they eat too much too soon!

Also get a giant slow feeder for the puppies. It should slow them down from just going ham on the food and choking.

I love that Joey is truly a dedicated foster, cleaning all the poop and bathing puppies and making sure they get healthy, rather than just the fun parts like cuddling puppies.

I adopted a chug, (Chihuahua/Pug) he was the runt of the litter. He’s just turning 10 years old next weekend! He has rotten teeth, anal gland issues, bow legs & scoliosis. I named him Togepi!! 🥰🥰

i recommend feeding them smaller meals and in separate bowls until their stomachs get used to the food

I totally understand how hard it is seeing puppies in this condition. I just had to call AC on my crappy neighbor. His puppies and dogs were all starving. No doghouses. No nothing. And they still let the creep keep 1 husky that you can see its ribs thru its fur. I hate him so much. I hate humans. Except you Joey, youre a beautiful soul! Thank you.

Puppies in this condition need to have measured portions and chart their weight gain after each feeding. Over eating as with brown chunkbutt... this can cause back up in their bowels or tummies even blockages. I would provide extra nutrition with bottle feedings until they get back to normal weight. Feed each pup individually so one doesn't take too much and others are not left out.

You've rescued a lot of puppies, I'm surprised you don't realise how you could have killed those puppies. It's called re-feeding syndrome, and it's very dangerous. When a dog has been starved to the point these puppies have, just dumping a ton of food down and letting them just inhale it is incredibly dangerous, not only could you trigger re-feeding syndrome, but inhaling food that fast can cause the stomach to twist due to the amount of air being inhaled as well as food, and they could even breathe the food in. Not only that, but you could inadvertently cause these dogs to have food aggression, you rightly stated they don't realise they are jot going to be starved, chances are they were fed in the same manner with food just being dumped in and the strongest dogs eat and this can cause the puppies to start attacking anyone who tries to move the bowl or even if someone is just around the area. I get this was an emergency situation, but if you're going to take puppies on, it's best you actually have the supplies needed. Those puppies are different ages, I think you said some were under 8 weeks.. they should not be getting just dry food, they need to be on a wet transition diet suited to puppies, and to their age. The reason they were sick was because they just gorged on a ton of food, and it was dry food which isn't ideal, is it even for puppies? Plus you have no idea which dog ate what, you should have a bowl for each puppy with food weighed out, not just a random amount dumped in, plus they should be SMALL meals multiple times to build them up, you feeding them that much food for a second time was also a bad idea, these dogs were starved and I know you want to get them back to health, but you're actually causing more harm over feeding them than you are good, these dogs are fragile. They can't handle tons of food, you need to get wet food for puppies, and you need to get dog formula so you can make a kind of gruel for the puppies that are just under 8 weeks to transition them over. What you're doing is a good thing, but I think you need to get some education on how to take care of very young puppies and starving ones at that and have the knowledge to deal with every case and make sure you have the supplies needed to take care of them. One day you may accidentally kill a puppy because you didn't know they can die from refeeding syndrome or even colic due to getting too much food too soon.

The way they ate the food was heartbreaking, as if they weren't going to have another meal. Just eating it as if their very lives depended on it. They are in great hands.

I have a puppy that is more play and less cuddles but with hugging him and stopping him from biting me, he will cuddle with me. My other dog will literally let me sleep on her at any point in time. She is a big comfort dog. They both are but if you want a more chill comfort and less play than she is better. I'm one of the only people that can hug them both without being tackled and dying. That mainly goes for my male dog though-

Please consider separating the little pups from the bigger ones. Not only could a puppy absolutely hurt another puppy, but it's also dangerous to go from starving to gorging themselves. At the very least these guys need separate and supervised meal times.

You should seperate the faster eaters from the smaller guys during meals to help the littler ones catch up!

Joey, I hope this finds you well when it comes to dogs being that skinny you want to feed them several small meals a day because you don’t want them to rapidly gain weight. I suggest feeding them in separate bowls so they don’t feel like they’re competing for food.

The puppy reminds me of my puppy, she looked similar to that puppy. She wasn't skinny or anything she was really small and had floppy ears, we got her from my grandpa's a few weeks ago and now she is much bigger and she doesn't have floppy ears anymore. She is also a drama queen, she's 52% husky and it's been great despite the fact she is drama at times
