“Gay honor” Really? That’s all we need to know about it. No story, no actual character. Marvel just needs to get one more gay character out before Saturday.
Everytime a LGBT character is introduced it gets praised but the sales ALWAYS tanks or cancelled.. batwoman ECT..I don't get it..these people don't like to make money and ruin characters in the process
This is a problem in their (lack of ) business model, that the market will eventually correct. This is only possible when its other peoples money being used to advertise "The Message" and agenda. Plenty of self-funded fail examples.
That’s because praise is cheap and makes people feel good, and these people all deal in social currency anyway. Actually making money requires putting aside their ego and giving the fans what they want. The paying customers don’t want what these “comic book pros” are peddling, and the pros don’t want to accept that reality. The ones who support these SJW pros are fake fans who believe that texting a few empty words counts as real fandom. True fans back their words up with their money. I’d love to know how many of those people praising at the altar of gay Spider-Man are actually going to back this project financially. I’ll bet most of them are completely useless to the people pandering to them.
I´m confused, isnt Spiderman's outfit meant to be as comfortable as possible for high velocity web swings and manuvers? Those sleeves, those shoulder pads, that high collar... Is he saving citizens, or too busy getting ready for the red carpet?
That's the one problem with the design! The designer should have looked at '90s Club Kid costumes, because they use full head masks, body suits and tights, like Spider-Man's traditional costume does, only with more glitter.
The only good thing about it is at least they're using colors reminiscent of an actual spider. Beyond that, it's completely stupid. Those sleeves would flap around and get in the way, and that collar would be uncomfortable and scratchy. No gay man would design this as a superhero costume, but it's not flamboyant enough to be a drag queen outfit. It fails on every level.
That design makes for a perfect arch villain. One that pulls the strings from the shadows while acting as flamboyant as possible in the public eye. I guess what I’m trying to say is Marvel and DC can not create good superheroes anymore.
I love how for at least 1 month, it is GUARANTEED that Marvel or DC won't make a dime, smfh. These companies have to be running off the Lead Editor borrowing money from family members to keep the doors open at this point, LOL

Interesting that they should use Liberace. Everybody and their brother knew Liberace was gay. And NOBODY GAVE A DAMN! That man was a Maestro at tinkling the piano keys and loads of people loved him for it. Everybody knew Elton John and Boy George were gay. NOBODY GAVE A DAMN! When people found out George Michaels was gay, the only thing that bothered then was the WAY people found out. Him getting caught by a cop banging some guy in a public restroom. If he had just honestly told everyone he was gay NOBODY WOULD'VE GIVEN A DAMN!
You know, I'm starting to think these companies are hiring exclusively from a talent pool of actual homophobes and racists considering how utterly stereotypical these characters are. I mean, seriously! There are plenty of really cool gay characters in comics and cartoons, so why throw out this flaming dumpster of a design? FFS, two of my favorite Venture Brothers characters are out and proud, but are they mincing about in ruffled lace? No! Shore Leave is a top tier badass, and The Alchemist helped save the world from a Cthulhu-esque monster!

Another sign Marvel has no real interest in making gay, or black characters. They only want to turn your characters gay, or black because destroying what you love matters more than representation to them.

I agree. He does his best work in these shorts and I'm not starting to watch a podcast that could turn 3+ hrs. My only long format show is ROTC (Revenge of the Ciss). Check it out sometime, they're a couple funny dudes.
Half agree. I like these shorter videos, but livestreams can be a lot of fun. It's just about striking the right content balance. Over the past few months the channel has skewed towards long streams with almost no short-video content. I guess that had quite a bit to do with the fact that Ethan has been focusing on finishing the book and that format was more compatible with his working schedule, but, yeah, it was a bit too much.
As the medium of comic books struggles to stay relevant in any way shape or form, they throw out maneuvers like this with more and more regularity. It's a sad thing to see in an industry I've supported since I was 9 years old. And no I do not hate gay people or any such thing, but as a Christian I do not stand for that lifestyle and I certainly don't want it in my comic books. The greater issue though is that I would never read this comic anyway so perhaps my opinion doesn't matter much.

Come to think of it, there was a time when weak and effeminate men were often portrayed as villains. Compare Cobra Commander's original design to Destro. Dude was scrawny, catty, selfish, and I don't think he ever won a straight fight. Makes sense given how soy boys actually behave. But I guess up is down, now.
Just from a practical standpoint, if you're out there fighting villains, do you want those sleeves flapping around to be grabbed from behind just as you draw back to throw a punch?

When you get off of the internet, you really don't see this at all. I took my kids to Vegas the other day and we didn't see a single rainbow anywhere and Vegas is a pretty lib city.

I don't mind that they made a gay character since it is the spiderverse but the character's main identity that separates him is that he is just gay, and to convey that they pick the most stereotypical looking outfit. Like I don't understand how they don't see how they push stereotypes

If there's one thing they should've done with the eyelash design, is that they should've been lines protruding around the cheek and connect behind the head. I know it's just gay spiderman but they missed an opportunity to give it the spider-ness to it. Lol
All I can think of is a truly evil villain or a pissed off Wolverine gutting the bottom web-twink. Some brutal death straight out of Venture Bros. Some snarky spider assclown quip and POW! RIP! gutted with guts & blood everywhere, and some Arnold Schwarzenegger Commando comeback.
