Danessa Myricks really stole the show this year. Ever since I got Milky Way and the clear glaze they've ended up on my face almost daily. I can't thank you enough for that Shiniest Shine video, it has continued to spark joy for me even to this day. 💋 I also fixed my Em cosmetics serum blush by pushing the dropper more into the applicator and it's begun to work so I've been loving that paired with McGrath Muse tapped onto my cheeks and blurred into the lips for an intense "just f@%$%d" "Winter Kissed" or "Pikachu clown" lewk~ Other than those, glossier futuredew + beam cloud paint + herb lidstar + boy brow + any clear mascara has been my cozy facial uniform. I never expected to be a glossier aesthetic person, but it's so easy and ritualistic which is a nice lil reprieve from 2020's chaos.

Hannah, I've made an excel document with my makeup inventory some time ago and it's one of the best budgeting tools I've used so far. The thing that makes me appreciate what I have and feel content with my collection is that I added a column with the regular price and what I paid for the item. But the most powerful of all was the sum of all prices. At first, it was shocking. Made me not want to buy makeup for months. I have to say that my collection fits in a not so big desk drawer, and it consists of only drugstore or local Polish brands cosmetics. I would recommend this to all that struggle with buying too much makeup. Hannah, would you consider doing inventory like this in form of a video? That would be so entertaining.

I feel like I often forget that the whole makeup collection has one purpose for me and it is to put it on my face in the morning. So the sum of all the prices is the sum for the collection that has one purpose and I should treat it like so. Of course, there are people that use makeup not only as something utilitarian so the collection could have more than one purpose to them. But still I can't recommend this form of inventory enough. I even added a column for the date I opened the item so if something is getting old I know and don't have to think twice about it. As someone who appreciates your nitty-gritty approach to makeup, I would love to see video llike that.

The own-makeup advent calendar is just brilliant! It is a good way to rediscover old favourites, but also declutter something that brings zero joy when you 'get' it. It can even apply as a countdown to any day in the year, no need to wait for Christmas again

I think for me it's probably my warm Roen quad-which i got on your recommendation! And my Kosas duo cream cheek and highlighter in Helios. As far as 'surprising utilitarian' choices, my TooFaced Sweet Peach Glow palette (which is one of those products everyone on RU-vid seems to hate, but I love! It gives me a very soft, glowy, gently diffused look). I would also include my tried and true Hourglass bronzer in Luminous Bronze Light that I use both as a bronzer and a blush, depending on the day 🖤

Ultimate - no makeup makeup/healthy-awake look product) 2- It Cosmetics Perfect Lighting click pen highlighter/concealer thingy (not too pigmented so no creasing, but still enough brightening power) 3- Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter (decent but honestly not as great of a product necessarily, but I used it to get some of my money's work)

I have that It Cosmetics click pen- I can’t seem to get the product to blend into my skin- it just seems to sit on top. I’ve tried applying with fingers, brush, sponge. Not sure if it’s just my skin or what?! Sad because it’s a lovely brightening shade on my pale skin

a LOT of this year was focused on intentionally panning items in my collection but some favorites outside of those projects include: glossier lash slick mascara (which i has only recently been usurped by pmg fetisheyes), glowrecipe watermelon glow lip pop (I’ve finished 2 or 3 tubes, and yes ik they’re pricey but they’ve captured my heart), my cream blushes in general but especially cloud paint shades dusk and dawn mixed together and organic skin co’s desert storm, and my mini fenty diamond bomb or mini nd glow duo highlighter (they both preform similar jobs of adding straight sparkle to the eyes)

Something I super appreciate about you is how despite having and acknowledging that sometimes you wear the crap out of an item partly because of its price tag, and the luxury of it all, the one product you go ham and heart eyes for is a cheapie elf quad. It shows how much you truly love beauty and that it’s not for the hype or the name (like many beauty youtubers) but honestly because the product produces something beautiful and sparks joy. Love it so much!

Reflecting on my collection I have noticed that my singles were the most used out of all my eyeshadows especially from Sydney Grace and Adept, the Kackie lip liner from Thrive and the Kosas lip oil in Dip were some that I reached for a lot this year

My most used lately is actually using a few of my darkish nude liquid lipsticks as a cream blushes! I find that it sets down and stays under my mask really well. I’m a teacher so I have to wear a mask all day. The other thing I’ve been using are one shadow looks with some clionadh and looxie duochroms shadows that I have bought this year. It’s easy in the morning to throw on and it looks dimensional at the same time. 😊

My most surprising but most used color product of the year is probably my colourpop blush in meteor, rite. Perfect sunburnt look. Also, my Bobbi brown bullet lipstick in raisin. I’m forever fighting to not use it on the daily 💜 Thanks for the video!!

So, I'm a bit of a minimalist in my collection: I have one blush and six eyeshadow palettes. I won't touch on the lips because I'm transitioning from a gloss to a matte liquid lip with COVID and the masks. My one blush is Tarte's Risque. It is the perfect universal, neutral blush that goes with anything. I put it on and don't have to worry if it fights with what I'm wearing. It looks great 100% of the time. I've went through two full sizes. For eyeshadow, I do a monthly one month, one palette, but the one palette I"m the most excited to use and never want to be without is Too Faced's Natural Eyes palette. It's nine shades but I could use it every day for the rest of my life. No question. This is an interesting video concept, I appreciate you sharing not just your favorites but your most used for whatever reason, but also highlighting the difference between the two ideas. I use my viseart neutral mattes palette to set my eyeshadow primer and do my transition and crease almost everyday. I use my Milani dolce pink blush all the time as well.

mmmm most used make up this year: Essence's brow gel, Lisa Eldridge's lipstick in velvet muse and Hourglass infinite flush blush. Basically anything that could make me look less dead and like I'm not wearing pajamas on zoom calls. Oh!!!!! and the Lisa Eldridge lipstick in velvet dragon! Got towards the end of the year but the colder/darker it gets here in Hungary, the more I want to look... alive? it's become my little beam of sunshine, and the lipstick I pick when I wanna lift my mood.

This was the year of JD Glow's Good Gawd for me! I tapped it over pretty much every eye look I did all year; I love it as an inner corner highlight, and I think it's been included in every little, custom palette of singles I've built in 2020. Such a gem! 👌🏻💜✨

My own version of the red Gucci lip voile (I. E. An easy, soft "red-adjacent" lip color) is a burnt orange matte cream lipstick from a Puerto Rican company called Necromancy Cosmetica. The shade is called "Grave Digger" (yes, after the monster truck) and I just opened up my second tube. Love it. Love that you are moving in the direction of mostly using singles too. I have converted my entire collection of eyeshadows to singles and have never looked back. Suddenly it's so much easier to find a unique blush color, too 😉 And love how you talk about items and your relationships with them! Precious, finite jewels, no matter the price range 😊

Loved this video! I wish I could figure out my answers too. Alas, mid-term memory loss is one of my depression symptoms. I can remember specific times I used a lot of things, but could not tell you which were my most used. I will say, this year in particular has seen me use a wider variety of colours, categories and techniques more frequently than ever before, so that could also be why I can't recall specific products too well. Also, this year has been like three years long, so.

I realized a surprising, most-used makeup product yesterday while doing my makeup. I feel like it's not a popular product or one that I even realized I liked until I forgot to apply it yesterday, but the NYX Dark Circle Corrector has become a practically irreplaceable staple. I've used other correctors that are objectively more effective at canceling out the darkness in my undereyes, so I've been using this NYX for the past half a year to try and pan it. But after forgetting to use it yesterday, I realized that beyond providing a little bit of color correction, its most important role in my routine is more as an undereye prepping product. It's very hydrating and smoothing, so whatever concealer I apply over top just looks many times better I'm glad I discovered my appreciation for it through my panning attempts, and now know what an important part of my routine it has become

I’ve concentrated on panning some lipsticks this year so they have been worn loads, even on days when I’ve gone makeup free (masses of days this year). Guerlain rose merveilleux (panned) Tom Ford Hiro lips and boys size (panned) Chanel La Malicieuse (panned) Guerlain Gracey (panned) Tom Ford Wild Ginger and Burberry Pomegranate Pink.

100% agree with thinking about shadows independent from brand and packaging - depotting and rearranging is such a good way for me to celebrate and use the makeup I already have. Most reached for: The thrive eye brightener in stella is so easy and so good by itself or added to the inner corner of other other eye looks, and my danessa myricks cream blush palette still feels fresh and exciting every morning.

On the positive side, I used to spend a ton of time on my lips every day, and with wearing masks I just wear lip balm. There were so many lip products I passed on this year because of that. It's crazy because lipstick was the product I always wore even if I had no other makeup and now it is mascara or eye shadow. BTW, Tarte STILL has those big square palettes on sale for $9... My no buy year pretty much ended palettes for me. I realized I could dupe the vibes of anything with my singles. I have only purchased singles, with the exception of the Wayne Goss palette, just because I wanted it as an object.

I HEAR you on the Glossier Vinylic Lip love. You influenced me to buy it and I settled on purchasing Driver. It is just the most beautiful, soft, blurred formula that makes my lips look more full. I can't get over how nice the applicator is. I was with you that I didn't buy it for such a long time because the applicator looked atrocious. I want to buy more but I'm not particularly drawn to other shades.

My most used makeup this year was my diror bronzer i sunseet ( blush bronzer crease color) i basically panned my old one and replaced it . It orangey neutral but suits me well. The other replacement was my chane lip blush in roughe captivant . It s the most perfect neutral glossy liquid blush and red gloss on me. It s just lovely. I finished one at the begining of the year and i am loving my second one.

I was really impressed when you said the Marc Jacob's highlighter was what you used on the entirety of you cheeks for this video. It really does suit you. I'd love if you would do a sit down how to on using cream blushes like how you did with black eye shadow. I know each formula differs buts... like with elf do you just apply with your fingers? Do you prefer brush for some formulas and a sponge for others. I want the deets.

Kiko milano eyeshadow stick. I needed a "base" for duochrome shdows because they're a NIGHTMARE if they drift on my mature eyes. (Literally NO ONE wants color shifting highlights in their crows feet). So I vary the look all the time but that stick shadow in a low key rose gold is the PERFECT base for an aging eye.

I've departed from my more creative side, but I feel like I've really discovered my staple products for everyday (CP ritz & salt new york especially).

I’ve been loving the Buxom Volumizing Lash mascara. If I use another mascara & it doesn’t look right, I can comb through with the Buxom mascara as my fixer! Also the Juvia’s Place Nomad palette has a weird yellow matte shadow with sparkles throughout that I have been loving!

*gasp* the Roen quads have fallen! I kind of fell into a rut recently of not wearing makeup at all but when I do I usually just do my eyes. I play around with swapping different palettes so much though that one doesn't really stand out above the others. I just go with what suits the mood or I play around trying something new since I'm in the house and don't have to actually be presentable. I did repurchase the five pan palettes by Dose of Colors in the vault. The Baked Browns, Marvelous Mauves and Pretty Cool palette are staples in my collection. I love them the way you love your singles. They are perfect companion palettes and they have saved me from buying so many other palettes. As of recent though, my favorite most reached for products are newer products to me. I think they will be standouts in my collection over the next couple of years and I may even pan them. I bought the Juvia's Place matte lipsticks and the lip liner bundle. I have been really enjoying using lip liner and a gloss. I have been pretty much exclusively using Millie by Samantha March × Ofra. Two of the lip liners don't work well for my complexion - the brown ones - but I think I'll hold on to them for a while. 2 of them are great nudes on me, 1 is a great pink and the other is a great berry for me. I love them so much that I ordered a couple of the matte lipsticks from the reds and berries line and I may purchase the liners in the coming months. I also really love highlighting this year and that was something I wasn't even sure I was in to at all earlier this year. Mary Loumanizer changed that up entirely, and that was an impulse buy because there was a crazy sale at kohls. It deserves all the hype it got. It actually may be the most used product in my collection besides mascara this year. Star Island by Ofra is new to me too, and came to me by accident when I ordered the Start Inspired highlighter. It was sent to me in error and when Ofra sent out the correct product they told me to keep Star Island. I am in love. Start Inspired itself may be too much for me unless I use a much lighter hand but if I don't keep it I may pass it along to my niece because she is much more fair than me. A bonus is that Star Island got me using my bronzer again which I am preferring to use as blush these days. I love my bronzer so much I want to pan the one I have before it goes off on me, if possible, and then repurchase it. I have 1 bronzer from Becca that is 2 and a half years old and it is perfect for me and it is still going strong.

I changed products a bit this year after finding out certain ingredients were exacerbating my skin problems and it kinda sucked bc i had to abandon most of my faves. So I'm only going off my newer routine. Most used includes Kevyn Aucoin contour powder, Nars Orgasm blush, my singles palettes (like you, these include many magnetic shades from premade palettes), MAC patisserie lipstick, PMG Lunar Bronze lipgloss, an old lipstick in a colour v similar to Lunar Bronze, Maybelline Sunset Spark lipstick, Clinique Nude Pop lipstick, Maybelline Master Chrome highlighter in Molten Gold, and generally smoky eye looks. Purple smoky eyes, gold and black smoky eyes, duochrome smoky eyes... and if it wasn't smoky eyes it was using the same bronzer, blush and highlighter i used on my face on my eyes as well.

I think the 2 most surprising things were the tarte brow gel I bought on a whim over the summer and the depotted ABH Subculture. I've been way more interested in a structured brow this year (I fully blame you, Hannah) even though I've shied away from that in the past because of redhead brows, but this brow gel happened to be a great warm taupe that's been working amazing! And it turns out subculture is way less overwhelming if I can pick bits of it to work with at a time.

Its always interesting how our habits differ from our idea of our habits... maybe its the fantasy habits for a fantasy self? For me one product stands out, and its my only nude lipstick. It is not my most preferred look, but it is so effortless to apply, and such a quick foolproof way to look more polished but still casual.

Same situation with using a palette as singles. I’ve definitely worn the So Jaded palette in my own variations the most this year! When I was able to wear lip products, (I lived on campus, so I was masked anytime I wasn’t literally in my own tiny room) I used Bobby brown crushed liquid lip in Mango Mood the most.

The thing I thought of that surprised me is my Kylie highlighter in Ice Me Out, I don't think of it as my favorite highlighter, but there's something about it I always go back to and end up reaching for even over the one I think of as the crowned "favorite"

My most surprising "most used" product was Glossier Cloudpaint in Dusk. I am a pink-cheek girl, always have been. But I found myself reaching for it over and over. I bought other colors but only reach for that one.

Hannah, I just learned today that Glossier is discontinuing Vinylic Lip. If you want to get backups you have to get them by January 4th. They sent the news in an email to people who purchased Glossier Play stuff recently, it's on the Glossier subreddit.

I actually think my most used product is the Kosas lip oil in Jellyfish, because I *love* a glossy lip, and this one I can wear under a mask without it going everywhere.

@@Mel-pb5xw It's definitely not completely transferproof if that's what you're after (I don't know of anything beyond liquid lipstick that is), but due to it's texture being much more of a balmy-oil than a gloss, I find that it doesn't make your mask stick to your lips, or look like the product has been smudged outside of the lips when removing the mask. It's basically a high-end shiny-finish lip balm, so I'm not going to say it's *worth* the price, but it is a really lovely product.

Most used color products have been the Natasha Denona Mini Sunset Palette, the entire Samantha March Collab with Ofra and Gucci Sheer Lipstick (red amber sheer). All of these at the same time or a combination of the color products, such as I have loved using the Ofra blush and bronzer for eye shadow.

I wear a mask my entire work day, and not being able to wear lipstick during the week has reinforced what I already knew; I’m a lipstick gal. And that lipstick is the Bite Beauty Outburst Longwear Lipstain in Sangria Slush. I slather that on from Friday evening to Sunday evening, and every weeknight I can be bothered. I bought one in the shade Orange Crush and wore that from October 1st- Thanksgiving, made a sizable dent in the tube.

The Neutrogena cheeky wink bouncy cream blush is the product I surprisingly almost hit pan on, this year. It is so easy and on powder skin or just sunscreen it works. It isn't a fave and I have a ton of other blushes , but it definitely won

Every single item from the Samantha March Collab with Ofra - bronzer, blush, highlight for my cheeks. They’re just so perfect & neutral for me, with just the right amount of sheen without being overly done. The Alter Ego dupe for the Natasha Denona Gold palette. 🙈 along with different indie brand multichromes. Catrice liquid HD foundation. No 7 finishing powder (it’s in a silver package, very finely milled and lovely, barely applies like powder). Fenty gloss Bomb for lip gloss. Lipstick - Dose of Colors liquid in Truffle. Mascara - It cosmetics superhero.

What about your Holika holika highlight/blush that you’ve basically panned in a year? Or did it get used up quick rather than a lot of use? Also, love the Kevin Aucoin on you! I think I struggle to pick one thing I wear loads because I like diversity so wear a lot of things. I use the Nars overlust palette a lot because it’s really wearable cheek colours.

Eons ago, I was flipping through a Vogue interview with Amber Valletta. She confided that her favorite lip combo was The Maybelline Moisture Extreme Lipstick G290 Sugared Bronze and the Wet n Wild lip liner in 666. Well, I marched my high school self over to Brooks Pharmacy and never looked back. There was a period of time after Maybelline G290 was discontinued (RIP) that I moved on to other lipsticks. But the invention of the internet and various buying methods made it available to me again. Like an old friend, that 90’s brown sugary lip and I have become acquainted again and I couldn’t be happier. I use it as a topper over Tom Ford Indian Rose. It is perfection. It is definitely my most worn and loved product of the year. BTW the WnW 666 has gone through many formula changes, but it also is fabulous and well loved.

I think, for me, it would have to be the Urban Decay Smoked Palette. It might kind of be cheating because my eyebrow shade is in that palette but I end up grabbing for a bunch of other shades in the palette too.

Maybe it's because we're always wearing masks now or because I'm in my 30's, but 2020 is the year I got my skin care together. I hardly bought ANY makeup except for one (or a few) of everything from the Tower28 line 😂 (which is currently small...HIGHLY recommend for self-sponsored review btw). I found myself focusing way more on comfort and clear skin than glam. I still love glam, but now I want it to be simpler to apply, easier to wear and better for my skin.

Is it bad that I realized this year I don't actually like wearing make up? I love the colors and I love looking at them on other people but I hate the feeling of everything on my skin. And I have such ridiculously sensitive skin everything bothers me. I'm seriously considering get rid of everything but a spot concealer and just enjoying the colors from afar. It's the only thing I've used since march...

The products I used most this year are probably the Freck freckle juice (didn't think I'd like it that much!) My single shadows, and lipliners! Oh and also the Cover FX duochomatic blush in Warm Honey (same colour as She So LA from Patrick Ta!)
