Hi Bold Bakers! My Mum's Irish Apple Cake recipe is a cross between an American coffee cake and an apple pie and it's one of her best recipes. Give it a go: www.biggerbolderbaking.com/irish-apple-cake/
I like your mom, she's a hoot. This is one thing I love about the internet, I get to "meet" folks that I otherwise would not have. I love apple desserts.
What a gift to be able to bake with your mom! She is so lovely and have a great sense if humour. I can see where you take your good look from, Thank you for sharing your mom with us! Please do more with her...can't wait to see the next one! ❤❤
Since I’m fairly new to you, this is the first time I saw your Mom! I just loved her, please b ring her back as often as you can! I think little George is one of the most gorgeous babies I have ever seen! ❤Happy St. Pat’s to all of you!🍀
You and your mum are so lovely and such a treat to watch, both of your sense of humor plays so well together. I can't wait to make your Irish apple cake. Thank you so much for sharing your recipe!
Ah, your mammy is a real Sweetheart! Just discovered your channel and I am subscribing. Never knew my Irish gran as she passed when my mother was a young child in Minnesota (gran married a midwestern American when she came over with some of her siblings through Ellis Island in 1926!). Any way, I love to hear the Irish accent and all the beautiful ways you all create such love through your cooking and baking. Many Blessings!
Looks delicious! Your Mom is so pretty!! I had the pleasure of visiting Ireland last August for the first time and I LOVED it! I actually wish I could have stayed there.... Enjoyed the video!
Your mom is so dear. What a beautiful lady. We need to see her more often. Not just on St Paddys Day❤❤ I have to make this cake. What a great cake🌹🌹🌹🇨🇦👍🌸💐
Nice to see your mum again! Also, I liked the tip about adding a little bit of flour to the wet ingredients to help prevent curdling. I'll have to try that
Always love when you have your mum on! We always use Granny Smiths for baking too, so I need to try this. Your mum’s rice pudding recipe is my all time favorite!😉🙏❤️
I made it on Sunday. It turned out good,. I added orange zest to the crumble becuase it was handy & did not want to eat fruit & waste it! Thanks so much.
Hello Gemma, I made digestive biscuits today using your recipe. It was fantastic & my family love it. Thank you so much, I buy lots of McVites digestive biscuits when in the UK, now I km now I can make it!. I plan to make your mum's apple cake for our Saint Patrick's Day dinner!
Well, it's obvious where your cooking/baking genes came from. Your mum knows not only the recipe, but why certain things in the recipe work. She and you are naturals in the kitchen.
Hey Gemma. I totally want to make this cake period it looks delicious and your mom is right about using your fingers when making a crumble. That is the way my momma taught me.
Loved this Gemma I do one but it has raisins in too..yum yum...love your moms lil nuggets of tips. See your comments over US calling it cake to have with a drink where as in UK it would be a flavour, this is why we need a video off you of variations, alternative ingredients and our stork measurement conversion to the stork butter US use. PLEASEEEEEE tfs
Hi Melissa. The written recipes include measurements in different units to help with conversion. To get a consistent result, go with weight measurements. Hope this helps.
Gemma, please tell your mum this looks delicious. I'm excited to make it. Adding custard sounds decadent! Oh, I made a huge... HUGE MESS... the first time I baked, and I was a lot older than 5. 😱
“Your Mom’s Apple Cake” is in the oven - I’m dealing with French flour so I hope it turns out! I did some of your method and some of your mom’s! 🤞🏼. Looks great and you both are beautiful (souls included)! Happy St. Patty’s Day ☘️
I don't have an Irish Coffee Cake (which has actual coffee in it) recipe here. But I have an American Coffee Cake, which does not have a drop of coffee in it. Check it out here, www.biggerbolderbaking.com/coffee-cake-recipe/
Yes, you can. Use the kind you prefer. We just recommended what works well for us, but if it's not available where you are, you can use what is there. Hope this helps.
I know this is difficult to understand, but people around the world measure in different ways. We have to give cups/metric measurements and imperial measurements. It takes too much out of the flow of the presentation, and really slows it down. We know, we tried it before, and it was just as tricky. We put the link to the recipe right by the video for your convenience. I hope this helps.
Hi, Valerie. I used a cake pan before with a solid bottom which made it very hard to remove the cake. Check out my recipe here, I used a springform pan this time: www.biggerbolderbaking.com/irish-apple-cake/
I never had a problem what I do is I normally line with parchment paper and I also butter a flower them very lightly and when doing like cheesecake or softer cakes I do same but to my parshment paper I put little like rectangular feet’s and just when it’s cool from fridge I pull out and make sure nothing is stuck on my borders but it works
