Very nice interview, still i remember during school days, i watched Roja in VCR - and listening to Oliyum oliyum, Impressed with the songs, i'll asked my uncle to repeat the movie in VCR again and again. And while getting ready for school i'll hear the songs which are very wonderful, while going towards school i'll look at the posters and view the name "Music by A.R. Rahman", then my heart says, that's why the songs are much beautiful. His ad works like Leo Coffee, TITAN watch (not sure), and Airtel was such a nostalgic to watch those days, with his long bhagavathar hair style, He's down to earth person, respect to Legend, ARR. And Mani sir too.

@Safeer Jasim your views though not totally acceptable, it must be admitted that y expressed it politely and decently Good. I amnot a fan or blind supporter of Raja I am only a lover of music and therefore hate the composers who spoiled the music. I don't have any groise against Rehman but I have the anger against him because in my opinion he is the main culprit in destroying the beauty of the conventional music and replacing it with soulless computer tuned sounds.in my opinion his music sans the depth and beauty of ragas and is just rhythematic sounds. Forget, Raja. Just listen to the song kalla Malar sirippile in kulamagal radai movie composed by KVM. listen to the beauty of the ragas and the tabla supported it. In my opinion there is not a single song of rehman to match it. At the same time I agree that one's music may mean differently to different people . Taste and knowledge differs from person to person. When y say that Rehman music touched your soul I am surprised but I cannot dispute it. There are people who find soul even in pop music or even injust sound screaming with heavy beats. What is a soul searching music is a highly debatable point. However, y cannot ignore the undeniable fact that the culture of listening to cassettes was started by ilayaraja and ended by Rehman. Many people are fed up with the present day music, Even the hit songs of today last only for one or 2 months. Raja though not in the arena now and his peak had gone long back , his music composed before 40 years, is very widely listened even today. In fact the worthiness of raja'music is more felt in the present than never before . No doubt Ar Rehman' s music is also enjoyed by many but they are of selected age group with a distinct taste. The irony is that most of the Rehman fans are complaining that his present daymusic is not enjoyable repeatative and boring and his initial days music was far better .This it shows he is fastly declining and counting his days of peak.

Thank God they changed it to rukkumani. Vellai thaayiye, sakkara penne...... Nallaallai. Similarly, "naathane", "kannane" all were rejected for "snehithane". The sound of lirics is very important. Chal chaiyan chaiyan chaiyan chaiyan is so sweet. It was thoroughly spoiled by vairamuthu by giving a bharathanatyam twist which was not at all suitable for the scene.

அதற்கு காரணம் இளைய ராஜா தான்... அவர் சண்டை போடாத இயக்குனரோ பாடலாசிரியரோ இல்லை.. பாரதிராஜா,பாக்கியராஜ் பாலசந்தர் ,மணி ரத்னம் வைர முத்து இப்படி சொல்லி கொண்டே போகலாம்.. இதன் விளைவாக இன்னும் 20 ஆண்டுகள் தமிழ் சினிமாவை ஆள வேண்டிய வாய்ப்பை இழந்தது மட்டுமல்ல... தமிழ் சினிமாவை விட்டே விலக வேண்டியதாயிற்று.. ஒரு நல்ல இசைக்கலைஞனுக்கு பொறுமையும் அன்பும் தேவை..
