Thanks for the cough syrup suggestion. I hardly ever get sick but I’d rather buy it and never use it than have to scramble looking for a sugar free option while I’m sick.
You're welcome! That's one that I never realized until I had a cough and I spiked my blood sugar over 400 with cough syrup!. I hadn't realized it was just pure sugar. So I started looking for options after that!
This is extremely helpful! I am still “new” to everything. Some may think it’s common sense but when you’re having to change your life basically it’s so easy to forget about things you may or may not need. My Dr is great and all but Dr’s never tell you every supply you could need or maybe something doesn’t work out which means you need more options. Prior to being diagnosed with Diabetes I never knew how many products they had out there and it IS overwhelming. So having suggestions such as these products is so helpful. Great video as always & I love haul type videos lol.
I’m so glad it was helpful! Sometimes hearing someone else’s recs can inspire your list a little, or spark and idea! I always love asking what others keep in their toolkit because I’m sure I’m missing something lol. Thanks for watching!
My sister is diabetic and i know the struggle with it at times. I love your background and would love a tour of your office space as I am setting up my space. New sub☮️💜💰
I just started my diabetes acknowledgement (denial is a river i float on) and was super curious so glad i found you! Thank you for sharing your journey!
LOL been there! Glad you're here, and let me know if you ever have questions, or need a kind word. Always happy to help. I know what it's like to feel alone in this (and what it's like to pretend it doesn't exist).
There she is! I never thought about sugar free cough drops!! Always thinking good job. I bet that alone made someone go wow. 🤯 We missed seeing you. Have a great week my friend. 🤗
Re:Ricola brand. About 20 years ago, I went into anaphalactic shock from one of these - the herbs they use are not necessarily good for everyone! 'Natural' is not always better. Halls and Fisherman's friend also make tasty sugar-free cough drops. Just fyi.
I need to get ketone strips and a A1c test kit and cough drops. I got the orange glucose tabs just to throw in my bag but I need to try the raspberry I love raspberry didn’t know they had raspberry.
Glad your back .. good info , I just tried the 30 G protein drink from fairlife when I travel and go low . I need to stock up on supplies too , it makes me worry less
What are thy best drinks that you've tried? I have been trying sub Splenda but found most "zero sugar" drinks have that nasty aspartame taste that is rather go full sugar in tiny doses. I love Gatorade Zero and tried pure leaf tea subtly sweet. Any items that you feel really helps in the drinks department?
I really mostly drink water, unsweet tea, and coffee - I try not to drink my carbs because they cause such severe spikes for me. I'm a fan of sparkling water (like waterloo and la croix), so those are on rotation for me often. Gatorade Zero is another on my list! You can also try making your own drinks at home. I'm not the biggest fan of sweet drinks, but if I have a craving, I'll brew some tea and add a couple of Truvia packets. Do what works for your blood sugar, but also what keeps you satisfied. Both are super important, and I hope that helps!
Gold Bond Ultimate Diabetics dry skin lotion is a favorite. I did not know about cough syrup and cough drops raising my blood sugar. That explains a lot.
That lotion works wonders. I feel like it soaks in nicely and doesn’t just sit on top of my skin! The cough syrup thing is something I’m surprised no one tells you about. I found out the hard way when I had a cold early on in my diabetes journey. After that I was like “never again” 😆. Thanks for watching!
I do! I have one from Lauren’s Hope. Because people often don’t know the differences between types of diabetes in an emergency situation, I always put “Insulin dependent diabetes”, plus allergies and a contact number.
