I took my first sound bath recently and was surprised to find it made me feel very sick. After such a strong and unexpected reaction I came home and did some investigating, was this a typical autistic reaction or is it just a quirk of me?
I don't have all the answers just yet but my investigation took me through the science of Binaural beats, the vestibular system and beyond. I touch on that in this video but will be diving into it more fully in subsequent videos to give it the space it really needs.
So whether you are someone who finds certain sounds make you feel drained, angry, anxious, dizzy or overwhelmed or just someone who is curious about why many autistic people wear headphones or display discomfort when exposed to some noises, this video is for you.
I recorded this before seeing an audiologist specialising in auditory processing differences. I did that because I wanted to document my journey and conclusions to date and then compare and contrast them with the official results rather than mess it up with the power of hindsight.
I did, however, contact an audiologist prior to completing this and have added their initial thoughts on what could be causing the issues I presented to them in my email. It was that feedback that made me realise just how complex the auditory system is and how there are many different potential causes for sensitivity, not just a processing disorder.
My audiology appointment is happening later today so I'll update the Vlog with that video as soon as I can after the appointment.

Sound and our mind are intertwined and make up what we hear. Dr John Lilly made experimental audio tapes in the late 70’s of repeated phrases going on at the same time. And when played they were being heard as new phrases that were not only the original one’s. The ability to hear as a human may beyond what artificial intelligence or artificial general intelligence can imagine. I find this reassuring. Trust and letting go is form of consciousness at the border of newer views and transcending new limits. Where anyone practices these kind of adventures is certainly limited, with my autism doing anything novel in a group is a no-go. I am 78 years old and an autism diagnosis has only been know since DSM 4 or 5 and recently for someone of my age. Thank you for making these presentations.

Thank you for your thoughts and for watching. I'm in the process of investigating this more fully with the medical profession in an attempt to pinpoint what aspect of this experience is mechanical and what is down to my processing. I'm deeply fascinated by this and curious to know as much as I can about how we process sound
