In my view, material possessions should bring joy and/or comfort. If a car no longer gets used, it's better to let someone else enjoy it. It shouldn't be difficult to find a buyer, as it seems a good car, and the Quadrifoglio is the most desirable 145 of all.

I absolutely love the pre-facelift 145. The lines are just more pure. And the engine has the aluminium alloy cam cover and inlet manifold. I really hate the later plastic versions.

I used to have one of those! Really great car, never failed and was really quick. It picked up a little bit of damage in Germany when a drunk u turned in front of me without indicating. But I managed to repair the damage and sold it in Croatia. I was sad to see it go.

Pre-facelift 145s must be very rare now - I’m sure that an enthusiast would snap this up and really cherish it. I’d love another 145, but sadly can’t justify the expense……..

Please do Not sell this qv… Drive it or Park the 145 in your own museum… this Engine in 145 are one of the best things that Alfa produced…and the Sound reflected Alfa Romeo and bis history… greetings from germany… i owned a 145 in verde artic 316b…

Good evening, I had the Alfa 145 in the 1996 motorized with BOXER 1.6 I..E..... Changed in the 1998 for her major sister Alfa 146 motorized with Twins park 16 v 1.6..... today that car is my garage , conserved like last exemplary of "hight school of motor " .... ALFISTA DOC 72

I had a red one and sold it to get my gtv which I’ve had 18 years.I loved the 145 and wish I’d kept it.

That's a nice car Neil & I'm sure it would be a good purchase for the right Alfa enthusiast. Living abroad means it is difficult & very expensive for me to import, so unfortunately I'm 'out of the running' with this one. Nonetheless, good luck with the sale!👍

Great video as always! Just a thought, but for those of us outside the UK, what exactly is involved in getting an MOT inspection? Not many states in the US have mandatory inspections every few years, which is probably why you see so many dodgy cars on the road! (Trash bag taped in place of missing window, etc.!) Where I live (Ohio) there is an emissions inspection every other year, but it is no cost and recently they have a "do it yourself" kiosk. You just plug a wireless gizmo into the OBDII port, punch in your license plate number and odometer reading and if there are no emission codes present, you're good for 2 more years!

Mmm Neil I would be all over that to get it shipped over here if I could import it into Australia. Unfortunately anything post-89 is a real headache to import due to the engineering work for it to comply with Australian Design Rules (side impact bars, seat belts etc). Lovely little car though

Hi Neil, lovely car this, deserves attention & to be driven more. Have you had issues with leaky fuel tanks on Phase 2 Twin Spark 145s and 146s? I am about to change my 3rd fuel tank... thankfully just found one 2 days ago, mint condition. Eager to receive your feedback, it must be common, mine leaks from up top, from that small side pipe.

Hi you mentioned in a previous post that you remove the sponges from each side under the front windscreen. I have a 2002 147 and have noticed that in this weather they do tend to hold the rain water so is it best to remove completely or get fresh ones ???. Thanks in advance

I am in the market for an Alfa racecar and I am torn between 145 Cloverleaf or GTV916 2.0T. Any input on this? I know the GTV is around 100kgr heavier. plus I can find almost everything race-ready for the 145 from Italy, whereas the GTV has some custom work to be ready, especially the roll cage.

Hi Neil, I’ ve always been wary of this engine 16 valve Twin Spark due to reputation of throwing con rods , excessive oil consumption etc ; yet some go on to fairly high mileage, is there method of preventative maintenance?

All they need are regular oil changed. Prob one of the best alfa engines when looked after.

It is a reputation these engines do not deserve. If you service it like you should and use quality oil you will never have issues. Never ever scimp on the cambelt services and never exceed the mileage. I have had my 155 with the same engine for 22 years now and have never had any issues. The engine is still as healthy as the day I bought it. And never run it with a low oil level. Then you are guaranteed bearing issues.

I have 2 fiat's... I must be nuts then particularly as they are only worth pennies. I also have a daily Kia which I compare to a washing machine, it does the job but that's it, no character or quirks.
