Greetings, Ant Lovers/AC Family! Meet my cute carpenter ants and boy, I can't wait to share with you my plans for them! Hope you enjoy this week's episode and if you did, pls remember to LIKE, COMMENT, SHARE, and SUBSCRIBE to join our ever growing AC Family! Ant love forever! So what do you think about the end reveal project? Do you think it will work?
It could work if you have enough room, and enough biodiversity in the ecosystem. Nordic Ants has achieved success with one that hosts several different species of ant colonies, along with many other creatures. Some are terrestrial, some water dwellers, and some amphibious. While he does place food in, it also has its own food chain, where the various denizens can hunt their own food, and the colonies of arthropods can break down leaves and dead wood etc. just be careful every time you introduce a new species, and make sure there are some protective obstacles to help them get a good start.🖤🇨🇦
OMG!!! Ok, now I am really, really, really excited! I have always dreamt of seeing an Ecosystem set up! With the plants, the various ant colonies and their different nesting traditions. Some in the ground, some on a tree ( or a facsimile of one), plus all the other insect residents like detritivores, predators, the ritualistic relationship between ants and aphids/sap sucking insects and so on! If anybody can do it, and succeed, then it is you Mikey!! Go for it!!🤩🤩👍👍👏👏👏👏🐜💖
Dear ants canada I am new to the ant keeping hobby. And I have western Harvester ants Please comment on this comment and maybe keep Western harvest ants.
I don’t think that western harvester ants are native to where he lives but I’m not 100% sure so if they aren’t native to where he lives and he starts keeping them and they escape then he would be introducing a new invasive species in the ecosystem which is probably why he hasn’t kept them yet but if they are native then I to would like too see him raise c colony of western harvester ants, and by the way, I am also new to ant keeping I am keeping red imported fire ants.
I'm actually been waiting for AntsCanada to do this. Ever since I saw a natureTuber do a super massive Terra Tank, I've been wishing to see it here. Dreams do come true in the most silliest way.
Carpenter Ants always the best and most easiest and beginner ant species to keep and care for. Can't wait for your massive setup. It'll be like Disneyland lol.
At 3:04 you can see some mites on the ants of the yellow carpenter ant colony. Hoping it is the good ones since the colony seems so active! I'm nervous about the idea, but hopefully through doing it we can learn more about the ants?
I want this guy to hit 5M as soon as possible… I’ve been watching him since I was so young my voice sounded like I had helium! About 5-7 years. He better hit 5M
I love Carpenter Ants and always planned on having them since they are my dream species to raise. I hope these little guys you have will turn out fine!
guys we are going to hit 5Million. This Family just keeps on groing and groing. I joined this channel a few years back and saw many of his older videos and This man has come very far from where he was at that time
Excited for the new tank! Nice to hopefully have a more developed multi ant species habitat! Nordicant upload only once a year so Ant Canada is way better!
The original 7 colonies in one tank video was what got me watching this channel. It kinda made me sad to hear the original colonies got released into the wild, but here's hoping this works out.
I’m so excited your doing an ecosystem habitat. I’ve been planning to do one of them ever since I started watching your channel. I hope it works and we don’t have too many ant wars. Other then ants what other creatures will be in there.
Man every milestone this guy hit he gonna do some crazy stuff.Last time it was buying a whole nation now he gonna make a giant ant farm.By 10m sub he gonna make the whole world his ant terrarium
OMG FINALLY! I didn't really think you would do such a thing, but im in for it, its gonna be soo epic, as long as its big enough that the difference ant colony foraging grounds dont have slim chances of meeting
Where ants live: test tubes ( small colony’s found by ant keepers), rotting wood, ground, dry ground, leaf baskets and ant terrarium.if I missed any, please say.
I first started to watch your channel to get some insight on how to alternatively deal with explosions of sugar ants I get in my house yearly. Now rather than trying to contain and eliminate I want to attempt to cokes the colony into a setup and keep just not free in my home. Possibly even attempt catching queens of some of the other less intrusive prettier species nearby. Lastly Congratulations on nearing 5Million!🥳
An ecosystem setup is going to be amazing, love seeing your videos. My birthday was today so my mum tried making an ant themed cake for me. Ant love forever.❤
Recently a lot of vendors here are selling lansones for the past weeks. Then I noticed when my dad bought 2 kilos of lansones, there was a queen ant. So me and my dad immediately put them in a container with the lansones and some stones, a mini jar, and soil. I wanted to release them in the wild but they were only a small colony and there are a lot of red ants here on my area so I thought they couldn't fight for themselves. Me and my dad watched a lot of your videos back then and after this I kinda wanted to email you and ask for advice too hehe but I notice the colony is getting a bit bigger and decided I'll eventually let them go when they're a lot or at least before the mating season starts again. Sooo seeing this video made me think -woah this is a coincidence. I'm now coincidentally getting advice haha
assuming the red ants are fire ants and aren't native to your area, there are available and nonpoisonous methods to curtailing the red ant population boiling water (mind you limbs with this one) down a major entryway into the nest will do a quick job though may take several trips (water heavy) diatomaceous earth applied around and on the nest entrance (will deactivate when wet) or mixed with something like cornmeal for the ants to take back to their larva (collapse a colony by breaking down the ant replacement rate) and for a slightly poisonous to the environment but also very quick results, a big bucket of soapy water (works wonders on their wasp cousins)
@@prcervi thank you for the tip!! Will try them out, especially the boiling water one. My dad tried it back then but with only hot water from the dispenser, though they were suddenly gone for a day or two, the red ants came back.
If I've got it right your idea is to connect the colonies to the same setup but let each one have there own territory and resources? I think that is a great idea! (especially since I'm sure you'll make it where you can stop the experiment if something go's wrong.) I started watching the channel during the first Titans' "cursed" terrarium saga, which was probably the most epic period in antiverse history because of the interactions between different colonies. I know that whole thing ended badly but this would be a good, controlled version of it.
Some very cool plans you've got there! I am thinking maybe you could name the yellow carpenter ant colony something special, like the Golden Lions or Lion Blazers. If you don't chose one of these suggestions, please choose one that has to do with honor or pride because this ant colony looks like it has many a brood to be proud of! :D #AntLoveForever
The yellow ones are Camponotus nicobarensis I have a colony of this specie nearly couple of months old. It was actually a 2 queen colony but one of them died yesterday because of my carelessness as that queen got to much stressed but it has another queen the are gorgeous and great. These are good for a soil type as my colony in in the soil and I prefers soil then a test tube setup as it always choose that setup😅😅😅
I like trapjaw ants and weaver ants. My daughter wants Species 555 to be used. I feel like weaver ants would be cool because of the color and the way they interact with the environment.
the moment you began talking about mixing ants, my brain went "He's gonna make a huge setup in his new place after seeing the Ant Exhibits from his last video." What's funny is I did the same in a story I wrote a few months back only the MC of that story was a symbiotic plant species, she's trying to become her worlds version of Eywa from Avatar, by connecting the world to one another, and she starts off by connecting with species of Ants, and another character, creates a gigantic terrarium to study the MC and other things that she's come into contact with, including the ants, and I'm talking about Shark Tank sized, so plenty of room xD... I should go back and continue working on that one xD
