Hey Kristina 😀 I play on a modified Roland TD-30 kit which was their flagship prior to the TD-50 (current flagship). I'm happy to see you jumping down the electronic drums rabbit hole but you need to dig into the module and tweak the sounds, EQ, compression, ambience, reverb, mic placements, room type etc etc to really hear what the module sounds are capable of. People watching this video are not hearing the true capabilities of Roland's electronic sounds. The sounds straight out of the box on this TD-27 sound awful without being dialed in. Alternatively, if you don't have the time you can purchase kits to load onto the module that have already been "tweaked" by vExpressions or Drum-tec for example. Better still, use drum software (VST) on a laptop such as Addictive Drums 2, EZDrummer 2, or Superior Drummer 3 to trigger real acoustic samples via the module which will absolutely blow peoples minds 🤯👍

FINALLY, somebody recorded this kit without the drum samples just to hear the room sound of the shells. I've been wondering since it came out how loud is the bass drum with the heads. Couldn't find any videos but it is really an important aspect when you want to place it in a flat with loads of neighbours around you... Thanks a lot, Kristina for showing this!

I’ve never been a big fan of electric kits. But Roland really did a great job with this one!

I started on a Yamaha DTXpress electric kit and went to an acoustic kit. They have come a long way. Enjoy it!

I'm a borderline geezer, having grown up listening to classic rock. I've always tried to avoid "getting stuck" in an era (as my parents did), so I'll listen (or have listened) to most anything. These days it's mostly EDM/Vocal Trance and even some current Pop. My point is that that setup really showcases how far electronic instruments have come. You can imagine that most of my peers don't consider something to be an instrument, unless it's one of the traditional analog instruments we grew up with. If I hear "But it's not real music" one more time, I'll, well, do *something*. LOL Who cares from what a sound emanates, if it's pleasing and makes a sound? My point is that even if electronic instruments don't replicate the sound of their analog counterparts, who cares? Why should they have to? But, back to the point. Nobody can make that "not real" argument with what your sitting behind there. And, too, you've got the flexibility to get creative with not so traditional sounds as well. I'm not a drummer, but these really seem to stand out.

Wow that's crazy. I just decided that I'm going to buy this kit next year and then see this vid where you just bought one. Great minds think a like I reckon. Seems like the obvious choice if we're used to an acoustic kit. Looks and sounds awesome!

Sweet death star kit drummer leia slayer. I remember going into guitar center and playing the original drums and the workers always telling me to use the electric kit. I just need that raw feeling but the electric kit has a nice deep enclosed feeling. You should start playing this set on stage without plugging anyone in at first. Ha. Proud of you. Destroy and embrace your new beauty.

Nice. :) I had to put my acoustic set away (still packed up in my parents basement) years and years ago due to living in apartments. A couple years ago I finally decided to go all out on an electric kit. I picked up the Alesis Strike Pro (11-pc). I absoluely LOVE IT! .. Mind you, with my rather bad fibromyalgia I can only play about 10 to 30 minutes every few days....but it keeps me from suffering from "drummer withdrawal" (and protects various people, things and animals around me from getting whacked with a stick, spoon, chopstick, paper towel tubes, etc... ;) ).

This kit is SUPER TRICK! It can sound like 80’s electric drums OR it can sound like REAL acoustic drums-the closest thing to acoustic I’ve ever heard from an electronic duplicate of ANY instrument! Fabulous! Hope you do some 80’s covers with this remarkable equipment,Kristina!!

My dream drumset is this exact kit, but then with the ability to swap the electronic heads with acoustic heads. That way I can practice without annoying my neighbors and when a gig comes up, I can use the same kit but with acoustic heads and real cymbals.

You have to convince your neighbours that there is no better pacemaker than your drum playing. You must try it with EZ Drummer or Superior, or Even Steven Slate Drums, then you will never go back to acoustic. That said, the drumset in my picture is one of my 3 sets, I had mesh heads on it and 7 electronic cymbals, but I got the acoustic cymbal pack as a Christmas gift so I put acoustic heads and spent some time tuning it with the drum dial and it sounds awesome, I forgot what it was like to be back on a great sounding acoustic after playing E-kits for the last 8 years., I guess that set (7 piece) is going to be my gigging set, and the regular 5 piece is the one that I will put mesh heads on, plus the extra pads to still make it a big kit for practice.

i use to have an electric kit but imo it's still nothing compared to the fun and visceral feeling of an acoustic kit. you can feel and adjust every tone, from a millimetre more on the hi-hat opening, to the toms.... and you don't get that big roomy powerful tone
