Are you planning on checking out Periphery’s first album? I highly, highly recommend it. You want Djent? It has Djent Ow My Feelings, Jetpacks Was Yes and Letter Experiment, Light and The Walk are my top 5 And yes, Spencer is singing on Periphery 1. He sounds like a completely different person but it’s still him 😅
I think it's about time we go to P3 - Motormouth. Absolomb, Lune, Flatline, The Price is Wrong, etc. Literally any Periphery song is worth checking out. Them and Tesseract are the only bands I've heard that genuinely haven't made a bad song.
@@slamdmkv Every album has a different feel, including one album 'Altered State' with a different vocalist. I'd recommend starting with 'One' and working you way through the years. The whole Concealing Fate Saga on 'One' is gorgeous.
Periphery literally doesn’t miss. Check out more P3 for sure, like Lune, The Way The News Goes and Habitual Line Stepper. Also Juggernaut Alpha has some incredible songs too: 22 Faces, Psychosphere, Alpha and Rainbow Gravity
I'm two years late to this, but hearing you say "I don't want to pause it" made me super happy. It's one if the best compliments for a song when you don't want to distract yourself from it.
I remember where I was when I first heard it, like it was a big event. Periphery had dropped the album early because it was already leaked, and I had listened to it first thing that morning while going out to do some mountain biking. It was on the way home that I got to Satellites and that explosion half way through rocked me. That was a good day.
Thanks for doing this one Drew…one of my favourite tracks. You need to check out It’s only smiles too P.S. I think you are going to get a lot of comments about not listening to the end ;P
Made my day just by seeing this upload today! With Periphery being my favorite band I am literally down for you to react to any song by them! My two favorites are Garden in the Bones and Luck as a Constant if you need a suggestion though :)
a year late but i sat down and listened to PII for the first time a couple weeks ago and the luck as a constant and ragnarok section of the album is seriously one of the greatest things ive ever heard
@HAHAHA HAHAHA Still got the notification lol! And I agree. Periphery, more specifically, Luck as a constant, inspired me to start learning guitar/music in general in my 20s
DAMN DREW! After all these reaction videos you still haven't learn to always listen to a track until the very end? :p You missed the best part of the whole song :v
I don't know much from Periphery. But this was a really good track. Now I know 3 songs from them :) I love 'Its only smiles'. The verse is a bit weak, but the chorus, the bridge and the break down are INSANELY good.
Oi Drew. Let me drop some dem recommends. Periphery - Absolomb (Trance-like Djenty bliss) Jinjer - Mediator (new track with excellent blend of thrash and groove) Archspire - Golden Mouth of Ruin (illegally nasty) Leprous - The Sky is Red Baard Kolstad music video (for when you want another prog epic) Dance Gavin Dance - Prisoner (Don't know if you've heard em but I think you'd dig) Karnivool - Goliath (27/4 has never sounded better) 🤘
Hell yeah my man, Satellites phenomenal track. Of course, check out more Periphery, but think you should also give The Contortionist another shot as well. I remember the first song you listened to by them you were a little bit on the fence on, their sound is pretty similar to this track imo, especially their album Clairvoyant. The part where you mentioned "the four horsemen" is an interesting talking point, I think the djent fanbase collectively would call the four horsemen Periphery, Meshuggah, Tesseract, and Animals as Leaders. I'm not the hugest AAL fan and seems you don't seem to be either, I would personally put the Contortionist in that spot instead of AAL, everything else stays the same. "Engulfed" is a good word to describe it but I think the better word is "Entranced". These longer-length songs can definitely put you into a trance and that's why I love to listen to them.
Drew try Flatline or Lune, more powerful Spencer vocals here, also The Way The News Goes is epic and so is Absolomb, Psychosphere, Scarlet and Sentient Glow are all bangers. Keep up the Periphery content dude :)
Perhaps you can turn the volume even lower? All jokes aside, it's not just that the volume is really low, but it also keeps fluctuating, which is really annoying. Just letting you know.
