I am finally ready to share my new Filofax (planner) organization with you! It's been a long time coming, but I've finally got the calendar portion of it set up in a way that functions for me. I wanted to use it for a few weeks before I shared it here, and so far it's helping me a lot with time management specifically. I hope to finish up the project management part this week and will share that in a Part 2 as soon as it's ready. Thanks for your patience as I get back on track with this channel. I already have videos and projects planned to take me through much of the year, which is very exciting for me. I can't wait to share them with you. Thanks for watching & subscribing!

Thanks for the mention of the Magnetic clips from the Container Store. I bought them and they are the best for holding the pages in my day planner. They make a big difference.

Unbelievable. Every time I watch videos like this with planners and organizing I feel so motivated! But then I always think: there's not a lot I actually do so why plan it out? What are the things you plan in it? I mean sure, I've got my work (shift work) but except for that I wouldn't really know what to put in there...even though I would love to be as organized since I'd feel like I'm actually doing more than sleeping, eating and working! Love your vids! Soo glad I stumbled across your videos!

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY JEN! I hope you had a fabulous time on your getaway! Love your Filofax! I have to see. it in writing as well. I have really tried to love my iphone calendar too, but I just can't love it, like it maybe sort of sometimes...but I just don't love it. I LOVE your nail polish in this video too! So glad a found your channel a few weeks back. You're like a SUPER organised version of myself....in that I also keep my calenders and to-do lists. I have 2 kids and suffer with arthritis so am no-where near as organised as I used to be, or would like to be, but you are providing me with lots of inspiration. I'm using my resting periods to watch almost all your old videos :-).

An iPad with an organizer app. I can also use the calendar program that comes with and it gives you a better view. You can also use the week or day view and print out all the pages you want. Love the reminders too.

I have become so addicted to Filofax! I have gotten 3 Filofax organizers (A5, pocket, and flex) that I use for different things at work. LOVE how yours turned out and all the inserts and accessories to go with it :)

You and I are so similar is so many ways! I also have social anxiety, and I am also very organized and cannot function without my "lists" and organizing my life. I have a binder system right now, maybe I will make a video showing it one day. I have a family binder, my daughters binder, kitchen binder, and my "life" binder (for goals, to do lists, organization, schedules etc...) but after watching your video I would love to get one of those filofax organizers! I am in love!!

THANK YOU! I whole-heartedly agree with you on how hard it is setting a designated "clock or punch-out time" at the end of the day work period. My bf, family, and friends don't seem to understand or agree with me. Also it's way harder to schedule "me or down time", since I live in the same place I work. Thanks for your video.

Same as the comment below, I have both a Moleskine and a Filofax. I have been using my Moleskine because it's slim and I can throw it in either my large bags or my smaller ones, but the filofax is just so pretty! I just may have to start using it again haha

I have watched many of your videos and find that you are so much like what I am . I do more of the planning part of organizing than really organizing. I love all the pretty planners and tools for the planners, but tend to not use them as i should. All in the best of intentions. I am a pretty paper user and a pen hoard. I love writing things down and do my best to be organized, but only do it when I have the time.I have 6 kids and was obsessed w/ planners, they're my so-called "bible". TFS!!!

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who uses different color pens on calendars and to-do lists! When I explain my "system" to people, they look at me like I'm crazy. I try to explain that it helps relieve anxiety to everything done that way, but they don't get it.

I have a moleskin and a Filofax but now after seeing this video I just want to go play with and organize my Filofax;) I love the personalized sticky notes. I also love the idea of the pouch that keeps all in one place. I enjoyed this video a lot and wanted it to go forever :) love, Iman

I got the Domino last month, still tweaking(may also go with a snap closure) it to work. I used to use Franklin Covey but find that their binders are soooooo much heavier. Love my Filofax since it is so much lighter. Can't wait to see how the project managment section turns out. Debi

@drawn2love Haha! It's so much easier and quicker to read when you know red means do today, blue means this week, green means this month, or whatever. Plus it gives me an excuse to buy pretty colored pens!

I love the filefax, I have a few. I use one to put all my family history etc. I also agree with the working at home thing. Im a carer and its a very long day and its hard to get that cut off period. Im using a A5 page per day for the todos at the moment, its the first year Iv done that so I may change it for next year.

It's High School..if they'll find something about you to find weird ;-) Just do what you think will work for you! I wish I had that much sense about being organized when I went to High School!! And after all it doesn't have to be the rather pricey filofax organizers if you're worried about that, you could start off with a cheaper one that basically has the same system. Hope you don't mind me answering but I love getting fast answers and Jen's got soo many things to read and answer!

Ugh I just ordered the whole filofax system! Your a bad influence Jen ;) I can't wait to get more organized. I too was battling between my iCal and my coach planner. The coach planner was too small and I kept forgetting my appointments. But your right about iCal! its not the greatest calendar app! Thanks so much for this video!!

A little late but: HB2U! I love your system... I started using a Filofax (imitation) too because i'm starting my new job in march and don't think i can manage with my iCal alone. And starting it i figured that i can use it as a todo list too! Mine is not as nice and special as yours but it's OK for now...

If you like keeping track of your week you should d/l the WeekCal app on your iphone! You can see a weekly view of your events, something the default calendar lacks. And it also has a "mini month" view where you can view the month but instead of those colored dots it actually shows what you typed in for that day. I love it!

the uglyone got me a pretty red one as one of my birthday gifts in Oct... I couldn't wait til Jan so i could start using it... there is something very gratify about a paper planner ... i tried to use my iCal but found i missed things.... i did make a rotary perpetual birthday calendar planner ( from a scrapbook paper collection and a large rolodex ) It's very pretty and sits out my craft desk

@Stef6788 I, too, work rotating shifts (12 hour, nights). I am also a college student. And a wife. And "mama" to 3 furbabies. Truthfully, I don't have alot of other obligations/scheduled events. Mostly, because I like it that way. In my planner (The Erin Condren Life Planner), I write in my work shifts (and clock in/out times), my school schedule (when I'm in class, when there is an exam or paper due, study time), my housecleaning schedule, and any other social/medical/etc appointments.

try calvetica for ur phone. it provides u a monthly view like a filofax (aka show u events in a monthly view and u dont have to click on it) i recently got a filofax too but i'd still like to keep my digital copy just because it's convenient and all :/ but i really like the feeling of planning everything on paper. and phones/tablets are such distractions when im trying to work

Container store has a multicolor week at a glance pad for 15.99, 50 sheets f paper. It's not sticky and u may have to cut it but it is sooo pretty that I find it motivating. It's great for meal planning, so if Don does more of that or you do it together I thought you might like to chk it out. Although, u prolly already know about it!! Lol

How much time to you take in the evening/morning to write up or update your to-do list? Also, how do you space out housework? Do you spend one day cleaning the entire house or do cleaning every day? Is that schedule something you would be willing to share?

I love this iphone calendar app because it has a ton of views that are completely customizable. For some reason I can't post a link. It's called "Week Calendar" by UtiliTap. There are other nice calendar apps for iPhone but I like this one best.

Love this video. Filofax paper can be pretty thin, do those colored pens bleed through at all? I'm always looking for a reason to buy more colored pens! I feel a Filofax reorganization in my future. Thanks for the inspiration!!

Next year, I'll be beginning my first year at college and one thing I am worried about is managing my time for studying. I only have this Burde college student calendar. it has a personal info page, whole year page with name days and national holidays, three week scheldules (which I can't use since our schedule changes every week at least a little.. i might rip them off), four test result pages, whole year from july to next july week-on-a-page 2012-2013, half year-a-page july 2013-june 2014, two years a page 2012-2015, some student info, a internet-page, 12 empty pages and 4-page address/e-mail/phone thingie. :)

Sorry if you have a video on this somewhere already, but when you were talking about how you saved your lists and whatnot from years ago, where/how do you store things like that? Is it as simple as putting them in a box and sticking them in the attic? I get so overwhelmed by things piling up that I end up throwing away or recycling, even things that I'd like to keep...like old birthday cards or whatever, I end up just throwing away. I'd love to see how you store your old belongings.

Jen, don't you find it a waste to manage a digital AND paper calendar? I find myself spending more time recreating the same appts, copying them from one to the other. I must own dozens of calendars/notebooks/apps & and I'm still trying to find the right one or combination. One hint from a pro organizer I worked with: when you work with a to do list, once you complete an item, HIGHLIGHT it rather than cross it off. It's easier to see and so much easier to read when you have to refer back.
