Black styrax is made by boiling the bark of the storax calamitos tree, pressing it to remove the water, then using alcohol extraction to produce the pure resin. The resin is then soaked back into the charcoaled bark. It produces a warm, balsamlike, sweet, flowery, intense and slightly grassy fragrance.

Im glad you did this vid, ive been wondering about Lilybelle lately....and wondered if I should pick it up or not. I have all the usual suspects for Muguet (aquaflora, lilyflore, florhydral, mayol, etc) so i wasnt sure if i needed to get my nose on this or not....

I don't even have the ones you mention as my collection is lacking in that area 😅... But I would definitely recommend it - it really seems to diffuse a delicate, watery scent into the room after being left on a scent strip on my desk while at work today

I have some storax liquidamber from Perfumers Apprentice that's the American styraciflua type and its quite rough LOL. It smells nothing like its described to me yet. I guess I need to dilute it down further. If you've ever smelled those topical tooth ache gels from the pharmacy that's what it smells like to me. Its supposedly good in leather and amber accords but I'm definitely getting the orientalis version because I love that kind of sweet and spicy fragrance profile. Its supposed to be smoother and more pleasant. I couldn't find Orientalis anywhere until recently Perfumers Supply House got in the storax orientalis absolute. Next order!

Ah that's a shame. I haven't smelled the styraciflua type myself. I think the quality of supplier can affect things too. Hopefully you have better luck with the Orientalis! For sure I would only use a little even with a good one and probably make most of my accord concept with labdanum etc.

i wonder what type of excel sheet/software u use to log your compositions and accords you make. Make a video on that. It'll be helpful for many mate

Have you tried Cinnafleur (alpha-methyl-cinnamaldehyde) for that cinnamon note? You probably have. Just thought I would throw it out there. :)

Hello Mate. I found one company from LA and Bangkok offering GCMS service with and without interpretation. Ofc with.. Is twice in price... How do You think is it better to buy this service with an interpretation? Or? And if Yes what that interpretation could give me to to recreate my favorite after shave Best Magic Regards Nomi

Hi. I've never bought a GCMS myself so can't help that much. If you have a background in Chemistry you might be able to interpret it yourself. I would ask the company the questions you have before buying.
