Hi Sam...I am considering purchasing a Decoy Shred right now...the new CORE models are out of stocks and the Shred is ready to be shipped but it is still equipped with the E0008 motor. My question is if you think that purchasing a Shred with the old shimano motor is a handycap in 2021? Maybe it was more clever to wait for next year...I will appreciate any comments in this direction...I have not tested neither the E8000 nor the EP8 so I have no idea about motor feelings in any way. Thanks in advanced!
Hey Sam, my Decoy Pro 29 finally arrived. But I didn't received the small box with tools, charger etc yet 🤣🤣🤣 So I have it now at home and can just look at it. Hope it will arrive soon. Thanks for the videos which helped me to do this decision.
Hey, I am also in the process of buying YT DECOY right now. I like everything about this bike, the only thing I am considering at the moment is the wheel size. I wanted a bike with 27.5" on both wheels, do you think is a good option to put change the front 29" with 27.5". Would that be possible? I want to be agile in the corners as I also love to ride tighter technical trails. What is your opinion?
Hey mate did you watch my video on wheels size?! I’m running 27 front and back with 2.5 minions I had to change the airspring in the forks to 180 but I love my set up. Thanks for watching
As e-bikes go, this looks really smart. Hope it works out well for you. It was exciting watching this as I also haven a new bike awaiting my return from holiday. First ever 29er enduro for me. Cannot wait!
@@SamsBikes I've gone for a Bird Cycleworks aeris AM9. Not sure if they export outside the UK. Pretty progressive geometry. Think I'm gonna do some videos at different stages of ownership like you also. Can't wait to see your first ride videos 👍
Street Pigeon no way I was looking at this bike as well! I think it’s a weapon can’t wait to hear what you think! Yea mate going to drop a Proish review in few weeks the bike is very sweet! Enjoy the new rig!
Exciting video Sam... I am still on the fence lol. Tell me - the steps e8000 as a purchase now in 2020, don't you think it would be a silly purchase with the talks of their new motor coming out. I get the idea that buying the e8000 mid 2020 would kinda be a step backwards tech wise? I managed to source a Commencal Meta Power SX Signature in 27" with the e8000 locally for nearly the same price as the 2020 Kenevo... Would that sway you?
Hey mate it’s a hard call, I think the e8000 is a classic motor very reliable not sure if you have heard about the problems the brose has had give it a google. It true the new shimano will be our this year maybe in the summer maybe later with this covid but I don’t think you will be able to get your hand on it to very late 2020 or early 2021. The improvements will be more power not much more 10nm and a bigger battery which shimano has already released. If it was me I would say the e8000 will still be a good motor even when the e9000 comes out but yes it’s not really the best time to buy a shimano bike but saying that you know it’s proven technology maybe the first batch of e9000 will have problems who knows. Hard decisions
SA OL hey mate let me help you, go the base or top model! I personally don’t mind about the aluminum rear triangle, if you go the base change charger in Yari making them a lyric rct3 and get x2 float rear shock making the upgrades cheaper then the mid spec and almost as good as the top spec!
@@registrierter-benutzer ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-q-hfGYISkG0.html If Jordie Lunn can do this with the Base, I guess we mortals have more than enough with this bike for many years to come. ;-)
You say you didn't want to buy "old technology" but you got a bike with the Shimano E8000, which by all accounts is getting very long in the tooth now when compared to Bosch, Brose and even Yamahas offerings of 2019? I'm in the market for an ebike myself and I've ruled out any bike with the E8000 and ideally want one of the above motors (latest models obviously), the Shimano seems to have a very digital, "on-off" feel with power and it's disengagement after 25km/h is dire compared to latest offerings again from the other big three manufacturers latest products. How have you found it over the last few months and do you find the relatively small battery offering an issue? Currently on my list are the following bikes, I'm currently torn between the Mondraker Level R 2020, Specialized Kenevo Comp 2020 and the Trek Rail 9. If I can get assurances regarding the E8000 I'd take the plunge on a Decoy.
@@SamsBikes I get that, and I've jumped in on plenty of other trends without fear in the past but they didn't cost 5 grand or were something I plan on keeping for several years! I love the Commencal Meta Power SX and the Decoy for value, geometry and lastly looks. But that E8000 just puts me off!
For me I’m almost 100% sure we won’t see a e9000 until July September next year and I still don’t think it’s going to be much better and let at all the money that is invested in the e8000 from the companies yt have made 5 carbon models with the e8000! For me it’s best on the market now even though it’s old!
Sam’s Bikes I’m a big guy 255 Ibs, I like the extra cushion on the rear, I got a regular job, broke my collarbone couple yrs ago, I really just hit flow trails or good Enduro type trails with drops here & there, the most is my upgraded Kenevo Expert, absolute beast in the mountains ⛰
Sam, did you go for the basic model as I see from your other vids that you have the electronic shimano gear shift. I ride a capra comp (one of the earlier ones) and I am considering buying an ebike. Now that YT have it on their bike to work scheme, it means that an ebike beocmes really affordable. However, not sure if i should go basic, mid or top. My current capra has pike RCT3 and I see that the basic model comes with the yaris. I dont want to shed more for upgrades/swaps unless I really have to. thanks
Hey rider thanks for watching, I did go for the base model and I don’t have the d2 shifters I’m running the stock slx, if I was you I would go for the top or base model the mid one isnt great value I think. For I went for the base because it was the only one in stock and I want to make my own upgrades later but the top spec if you have the money is amazing value! I hope that helps.
Sam Bici’s .......I’m sure you will be fine mate .....it’s just very odd to only give 6 months .......I have the Capra and love it , looking for an ebike now .... keep us all up to date how you get on 👍
Hey This ist the Base Model right? How is this possible to have mixed wheels on this model? On the homepage from YT is the Base model only available with 29 on the front and the back.🤔
@@stephenwillett9079 Im not sure the next one up is worth it.. Im going to change the brakes to XT, upgrade the charger in the forks making them a lyric rt3 and putting a X2 float which is a much better shock.. and its in stock. just my thought.
