I know I'll get comments about it, so I'm going to pin this comment. Yes, my daughter has a birth mark on the back of her head! The doctor and nurses called it a "Stork Bite" which is referring to the fact it may be a temporary birth mark. The medical term for a stork bite is nevus simplex. It's not a strawberry hemangioma, as some people thought, but funny fact is that's the kind of birthmark I have on my back! Who here has a birth mark?!
Moms please dont forget you can get things like swings and even the snuggle me SECOND HAND...dont pay full price for things they'll quickly grow out of...just disinfect and you're good to go
My husband doesn’t like the idea of using something preowned 🤷♀️ I’d be ok with it, especially the SNOO to be used but hey, whatever makes him feel right is fine with me!
@@natashalebedeva5465 I was actually on the streets until I was about 7-8 months pregnant, so I didn't have much time to nest. I was all for thrift stores for clothing (I'm freaked out by cloth things you can't put into a washing machine that are second hand due to bed bugs), yet he insisted we should get clothing all brand new. I took him to a thrift store to show him how much 2nd hand clothes were for baby and then showed him how much brand new clothes were. After that, he was only for 2nd hand lol. I also insisted that if family wanted to buy clothing, only one outfit was to be brand new (if they wanted) because babies grow so fast!
As a mommy of a 10 yr old it's comforting to see the same AMAZING products still being used. 1. MAM paci 2. Butt paste (I used the one in the yellow tube) 3. Nose Frida 4. Nipple shield 5. My breast friend ALL wins!!!💯 Congrats again and your beautiful baby girl!💖
Brittany Balyn i remember my mom had the same issue with my little sis and she used to have a washcloth right next to her and quickly cover her nipple and adjust or do whatever she had to do
So I just discovered your channel. I'm 20 weeks pregnant and trying to finalize my baby registry (AN IMPOSSIBLE TASK). But thanks to your videos, I'm literally sitting here adding and removing items. I appreciate that you go beyond the typical recommendations - you mention if your doctor recommended it, whether you researched it or not, or if it also worked for your friends. Thanks so much!!
The only complaint I have about your videos is that I wish they were longer 😩😂. My 1st is due in December and I just feel like I need all the info and insight lol.
Well, remember that babies only really need food/feeding supplies, diapers/wipes, a safe place to sleep, clothes, a cheap car seat/stroller, and medical essentials (nose sucker, Tylenol, gripe water or equivalent, butt paste, thermometer, etc). Swings are awesome too. You can ask the hospital for different things like nipple cream, formula samples (take em just in case if you do plan on breastfeeding), pumping supplies, diapers, wipes, blankies, hats, baby shampoo, soap, etc).
You are so funny the way you described her being water boarded with milk. lol! Also, I’m a big advocate for normalizing breastfeeding, so you feeding your baby while filming was super empowering to other mommas.
Hi! I highly recommend the BALM! Baby Diaper balm! I have used this on my daughter every day for a year and she has never had a rash! It’s all vegan, natural, organic, smells great, and comes in a glass jar so it’s plastic free too! 😊
Thank you so much for this video! Im 22 weeks with my 1st, a baby girl 💖, after 6 years of infertility. Im super excited but was having a hard time making my registry!!
Good luck to you mama, you will get the hang of it. Trust your gut and enjoy all the moments even the hard times because you’ll oddly miss them one day 💖
Congrats!! I am pregnant with my second one now. I remember being so scared but just trust your gut. You will have alot of people give you geniunly good advice and just stupid criticism. My inlaws always told me to not pick up my baby everytime she cried or she would never want to be put down. I hated that. I picked her up and held her all the time. She is fine. She was able to pick out a big girl bed and put herself to sleep at 4ish. She is totally fine and independent. Just do what you feel right. Also if somone offers to watch the baby so you can nap, take it! You will need some sleep 😃
Im a second time mom and I loveeee this!!! Normally I don't like to watch these type of videos because you find that a lot of them are either " herr let me show you what you absolutely need even though your kids needs are not the same as mine but still get them because i know better" or "here is a list of the most expensive baby items doesn't matter if they work or not, buy them they are expensive so they are must haves". But I love that you give your whys and specific scenarios. So thank you!!!
It’s so strange..as someone who doesn’t have children and no desire to have any I thought I would lose interest in your channel..i don’t mean that in a rude way I was very happy for your pregnancy news but don’t really care for baby /family channels as I can’t relate ..yet somehow..I fell in love with you even more! Lol. You’ve been so honest and real with your pregnancy and birth experience and watching the love you have for your daughter is the sweetest thing 🥰 if i were a new mom you would be exactly the person I was looking for for guidance...keep being your amazing self, you are literally glowing being a momma 💕
I'm a super producer, too, so I feel your pain. I like to get the milk to let down, then let it spray into a nursing pad, or a haakaa to save it, then once the milk stops spraying, latch baby on. Also, to help even things out, always start her on the less heavy producing side. Your body will eventually figure out you don't need to make so much.
@@pcuell00 😭 That's rough! I'm a firm believer that fed is best, but it's sad if you want to breastfeed, and can't. I'm so thankful I produce plenty of milk. The only downside is baby and I have to change clothes a lot because she gets too full and pukes.
@@karihendrix6491 yes, its very tough! I do complemment with formula, coz even offering both sides she is not full. If makes u feel better my baby also pukes because idk how many ml she got from breastfeeding, so I have to guess how much to prepare, and sometimes its too much 🙈😅 dont worry we are happy, except when visiting the pediatritian that pushes to stop complemmenting 😤
If you can, I’d suggest pumping first before feeding baby! Only long enough for the let down to slow down, than latch her. That way she won’t be sprayed every time lol. My baby boy just accepts it but it’s a mess!
So much effort though, sidelaying helps too as there isn't as much gravity. I had to pump when I went back to work and all the washing and sterilising is like another full time job, or really intense hobby 😂.
I second this!! My right sprays every single time I get a let down my left only does that if it’s engorged and I won’t latch him until I pump it out a bit.
With all 5 of mine I doing that if you start nursing on the less predictive side and pump the other one at the same time, it helps. It helps build your supply also. I would always pump the opposite side while nursing and then you have a milk stash in the freezer if you should need it.
Hey Brittany , I'm a new mama to a baby boy ( Luca James💙) since July. While I was pregnant I watched your videos and connected immediately! Being able to relate with your postpartum journey, your "a day in my life" videos and using some tips/tricks on what to take to hospital really made me feel comfortable during a pretty uncomfortable time lol. I've really enjoyed the content of your channel and cant wait to see what you and your beautiful baby squish post in the future❤ Me being a stay at home mama now I have time to focus on creating a career at home for myself, and finishing my education, since I am training to become a birth and postpartum doula/ birthworker and educator in the state of Ohio, and I feel like doing vlogs could really help me to reach out and educate other mamas out there that need support during their pregnancy/birth journey❤ are there any tips you could give me on where to start with vlogs? If so it's much appreciated. Have a wonderful week!❤
The love to dream swaddle saved our lives! My newborn hated being swaddled with arms in. We were at our wits end with getting her to stay asleep without waking due to rhe Moro reflex. She actually puts herself back to sleep now!
I swear by bourdreauxs (however it's spelt) butt-paste diaper cream! It's literally the best thing ever. My son had a really bad rash, & this started working almost immediately. It's great! & Mam's pacifiers are the only ones I'll use too. They're amazing
Holy crap she’s growing SO FAST!!! I remember finding you when you were still pregnant and I was barely 8 weeks along! Now I’m entering my third trimester and your babe is no longer a newborn😭🥺
when baby pulls back due to over flow, attach the hakka to catch the overflow/let down and when it slows down u can then re-attach her... plus side is u have a bottle from whatever milk u were able to catch in the hakka. i do this with my son on both sides
Nr 1 cause of scable cap is parfume in baby products. Use all Ph neutral products on the skin, also the washing powder and you don't have that problem. After 1 year the skin is more developed and you slowly can start using perfumed products
I got an off-brand SnuggleMe off of Amazon and it is 100% my most used baby item! Extra covers are essential! But... standard sized changing pad covers fit it perfectly and you can get them so ridiculously inexpensive! I have 7 or 8 covers for mine
For the snoo bassinet, my mom bought one used off of eBay for my sister in law. (she said she wanted one used because of price comparison) they work great and are around 600-900 dollars, saving you around $4-500. The one we got worked perfectly, as it was only needed for 4-5 months. We just sanitized and got new bedding for it. Saved a ton that we could spend elsewhere.
Love this. Think next time you can elaborate on what these things are and they’re use. Will be a first time mom :/ and didn’t know much of any of these
I have a 12 week old, so close in age to Arrow, and he pretty much only takes the MAM pacifiers as well, he will sort of take the nuk’s but he just spits them out half of the time. They really are the best
The mam paci is the best thing EVER!!! We have tried every one out there to get my 2 month old grandbaby to stop going for her thumb....Mam is the only one she will take ❤️
My 8 week old has the exact same birthmark! Nobody ever mentioned stork bites, I just got told ‘she has a birthmark but it won’t be visible when her hair grows’. I call it her strawberry patch ❤️
It’s crazy to see u as a mama and now with a not so newborn newborn 🥺 been here since the beginning of ur channel - it’s beautiful to see you and ur little cute family being so happy 💛 keep killin it girl
Brittany Balyn we breastfeed and bottle feed her, she doesn’t even flinch at the difference. I know babies are all different but we seriously love them.
I had the same problem of 'water boarding' my baby. I tried nursing while almost laying down, which helped a lot and the best solution was just covering my nipple for 2 seconds with light pressure and it slows down the flow.
I loved the MAM pacifier too, they’re tinier and I had a 26.6 wk preemie. Any preemie moms, PLEASE get your babe the MAM. They have different sizes, just get the smallest one. The “McDonalds” butt paste is def the best - especially if they get any sort of rash, it’ll clear it up faster than anything else. It has the same % of the active ingredient (40% zinc oxide) as Desitin, but for some reason this one works the best. I used the more organic kinds or even the spray kinds or ointments without any rashes. The clear ointments (get petroleum free, think aquaphor texture, but without the petroleum - honest makes one, so does Matys, Alba, Zarbees). And that stuff is amazing for their lips and cheeks in the cold months to avoid any chapping. Use it tons. We still use it and our girl is six now. We used a dock a tot, and it was life changing - I would get the snuggle me if I had another baby. Whichever you get, I have to agree, get at least one extra cover !!
This is by far my fav must haves vid! Coming from someone who has a 7 mo old, all these things are 100% amazing!! The only thing I don't know about is the shampoo, my LO has sensitive skin, so we use Cetaphil!
You’re just having an oversupply! I had that a few months ago with my daughter. Use a haaka once you know your letdown is going to come, to catch all that super fast milk, and then plop her back on! :)
I have the exact same issue with water boarding my baby. 🤣 My solution is to keep a burp cloth tucked close under her chin (or a bib) and when she backs out, let your breast finish its letdown into the cloth. Once it has slowed way down, offer baby the breast again with your nipple that is still dry because you expressed it into the cloth. :)
Will need to update my registry... thank you for this video recommendations!! Just finished watching the " baby regrets purchases" and I have to agree with some items...
I couldn’t help but giggle as you were explaining the issue with your fast let down, because that literally happened to me and my my 5 week old BabyBoy yesterday. Shot em right in the eye. Poor thing looked at me like “Really Mom🤨” I always try to block it with a burp cloth but that one got em😅 BTW I’m a single Mom to two boys, and I always look forward to watching your videos every Monday once I get them to bed. You’re doing amazing, keep it up Mama!☺️🌹
My top would be prob the boppy newborn lounger (ig instead of snuggle me) and my daughter LOVES soothies lol . I’m a first time mom to an almost 6 month old girl so I love being able to relate to a lot of your content now!!
The kyte sleepers are great but I hate their tiny snaps. I MUCH prefer kickee pants brand. Amazing material! Long fit time because they are so stretchy. Breathable. So cozy! Highly recommend
Nipple shields were a need for me in the beginning of our journey but we found a tongue tie and that was giving him a hard time latching onto me.. Also my right side sprays no matter what and it won’t even be full lol so I usually pull that side or use my Milkies milk saver or HAAKA and just nurse him on the left side.
You and your baby are so beautiful, may God bless you :) l'm 38 weeks pregnant just found your channel and every video of you is so helpful thank you for sharing your experience which already helped me a lot :)
Just had my baby girl on 10-6-2020, my baby will only take a certain pacifier, and barely takes it even with dr recommending it. I’m 4’10” and she was 21 1/2. Thank you for the advice will be using a lot of it.
I did not love using the niple shield as I couldn't get it to stay. My son would bump it and it would fall off so easily, but just on one niple. So glad when I could stop using it, but it does help
I started watching these videos as soon as I found out I was pregnant!! Now being 26 weeks and preparing for the baby shower in 2 weeks I’m so happy I prepared so early. I feel like I got a good look at a ton of different products and got the best for me and my babe❤️
If you’re interested, I suggest taking Arrow to a pediatric oral surgeon/dentist to see if she has a lip or tongue tie! Then they can laser it off. Those symptoms sounded similar to my breastfeeding issues. Getting the lip and tongue revision was a big help. It sounds horrible, but it’s quick and easy.
Jailene Ramos because it’s common to have an oral tie and they effect the mouth later on and it seriously effects breastfeeding. Just do research on it. So many people put babies through pain unnecessarily when they pierce their ears. Things like oral ties and circumcisions are at least medical. Why pierce a baby’s ears? It’s just cosmetic.
@@taylorblumanhourst7571 u comparing an ear piercing to laser and circumcisions 🤦🏻♀️ an ear piercing is like 2 secs of a sting pain while circumcision is not needed either Smh two whole different pains is the same to you smh why pierce them cuz it’s sometimes cultural and yet u just crazy circumcision is a whole extra skin remover same as the tongue tie Do ur research
@@jaileneramos8411 circumcision is cultural too...but is also backed by science lmao. I did do my research on both and decided what was best for my family and I. That’s that. This isn’t even about you. I was providing information that helped me breastfeed to another breastfeeding mother who might be interested in doing her own research and making her own informed decision. Clearly, it is not an option for you. That’s fine. You didn’t have to comment then.
My english is not really good, i don’t really understand what u’re saying but i like your energy that’s why i’m everytime here 😁 hello from France and Turkey 💜
Man Brittany, you crack me up - thank you so much for making this such a fun video (think I snorted out my coffee hearing you water-boarded your baby with milk) Thank you
The part where you explain the nipple sheilds has me dying bc I feel you! My daughter has the same issue with my over producing side😂 Also all the kids on my moms side of the family had a stork bite(literally aunts, cousins, parents, siblings, cousins, both my kids)! Its cute and usually goes away before theyre 2 or 3. ❤️❤️
Butt paste is a life saver! I’ve been around kids my whole life and have one of my own so I just use my finger haha. A nipple shield though! Man wish I had one of those 😫 These are awesome products. I never used a bottle warmer though. When I had my son we didn’t even have a car seat or anything when he was born, not even a baby shower, because he came a month early. You don’t really need a whole lot, most things are more “quality of life” items, but you best know I’m going to get some of these for baby #2! Thanks for the video! 💜
@@brittanybalyn also sometimes it can help to press on the breast towards your chest, it slows the letdown for me so she can manage it, but as she got older she can manage the letdown all on her own, she's 2.5 months old😁
Tamara Protić I do recommend getting a super soft pillow to put your baby on while in the hold. I tried the bopie (however you spell baby products nowadays) she sat too high and would loose milk. Tried a firm pillow and she cried. Tried holding without anything bad idea with a 10 ibs 5 oz baby. I would also suggest feeding them in a diaper to keep them awake if that helps. Sorry for the long reply
omg, my baby just turned 2 months & has been LOVING the mam paci’s too! which is kinda funny because it’s literally the cheapest, we have everything from avent to itzy ritsy to bibs to ryan & rose paci which was pretty expensive for one paci if you ask me.. & she of course loves her $3 mam paci the best. it’s the lightweight material it basically suctions right to her lil face haha 😛 we love it. love the vids 💗
