You got this! I did it at 36+ weeks. No joke. Haha. But still pulled it off. You need alot less that you think and alot less than most people say you do.
Great list! As a mom of two I just wanted to add for any first time moms, cut yourself a lot of slack! I know in Instagram it looks like the newborn phase is so easy and breezy. For a lot of us it's not! But you'll figure it out and adjust to your new normal. I didn't feel like myself until 7 months in to be honest. I would also reccomend looking up postpartum depression symptoms with your partner so you can both hopefully recognize if these are things you are experiencing. No shame! You are still an amazing mom!
You’re the ONLY person that has mentioned plans for pets. I have everything else in the works to be ready, but for some reason the dog and lizard completely slipped my mind. 🤦🏻♀️
Hey another wee tip for dogs is to take a small blanket/muslin to the hospital with you and wrap your new baby up in it for a while, then before you go home get your hubby/partner/family/friend (?!) to take it to your dog so they get introduced to the smell of baby before you’re home. It can really help xx
PACK YOUR HOSPITAL BAG was a hugeeee one for me, so right! A few weeks into the third trimester, I had an emergency c-sec so my husband kept going back and forth because there were things I forgot to ask him for; if we were prepared, he’d have more time with us - you just don’t know what will happen in the third trimester. I’m prepping for my second but I wish I found this channel when I had my first - This channel is definitely one of the best, very informative, explained easily, reflects on previous experience and is straightforward
34 weeks unplanned pregnancy . First time mom. Very scared and nervous.. but also excited to meet my son.. I’ll make it work . I’m excited to prepare I’ve been up all night thinking about what to do. but worried about financial problems and no family or friends to help… it’s hitting me lately how close I am . I hope I can do this . This video got me more happy and excited and optimistic thank you
Reach out to a local women’s shelter or church and they will give you the support you need! There are lots of programs churches have that facilitate moms with no support. Best of luck to you. You got this, mama! ❤
Omg the story about your dog gaining weight kinda made me chuckle 😂 Thank you for this video. I have PCOS and no gallbladder.. had been on birth control religiously and just found out I was 8 MONTHS pregnant!! Such an exciting time and surprise. I truly didn’t know I was pregnant since I was told it was impossible and I always had a rumbling in my tummy due to no gallbladder .. I’m so excited to be a mom soon but taking a crash course in what to expect! God bless you all ❤
I am too! I’ve been looking at baby classes via RU-vid because I can’t justify spending $ 50+ for a zoom class that buffers every 5 minutes. I did the free class from baby academy and that was helpful as well but it buffers a lot. Let me know if you find a good class on RU-vid that’s new! I found one that’s ok but is 5 years old.
Wow this is most informative video I’ve seen thus far. Baby number two due March 23rd and I def saved this! Best of luck to all the moms delivering 2021!😘
I’m due the 20th of March 2021, does anybody know the rules about birthing partner and how long they can stay etc?! My midwife has no idea. It’s my first time pregnant and I’m more anxious about being alone through the whole thing than pushing a human out of me!! (I do suffer bad with social anxiety )
@@janey_undiscovered8241 call the hospital you are delivering at to ask! My hospital changes it’s rules weekly, but as of right now my husband (and probably mom) can be at the birth. After that it will just be my husband, but he can come and go. I’m in Oklahoma.
This is the video I’ve needed! First time mom. Every time I ask other moms for advice, they all say, “you’ll just know.” “It’ll come natural.” “You’ll figure your baby out.” Which I’m sure is all true, but also some guidance would help! Due May 2021 and I didn’t realize how unprepared I am!
My husband thinks I was crazy for purchasing a breastfeeding course but it helped me a TON. I don’t think I would have been able to breastfeed my daughter if it weren’t for that course. It even helped me create my birth plan so that I did have a positive breastfeeding experience from the start. It’s so important to know what you want in the hospital and be able to confidently tell the doctors and nurses what you want. I’m expecting baby number 2 now and I feel super confident and I’m excited to create my birth plan again. :)
I took my son to the grocery store by myself for the first time when he was like a month old and I called my husband at work in a panic because I couldn’t figure out how to get his car seat out of the base 🤣. And I was also someone who prepared in all the wrong ways - researched heavily about all of the “stuff” that we needed instead of looking into how to actually care for the baby. Breastfeeding was so so hard for me and I wish I had already picked out a lactation consultant & a dentist to help with his tongue tie, etc so I didn’t have to worry about researching while exhausted. Another piece of advice I wish I had was to arrange for help not only for when the baby is first born but for when your partner goes back to work (if that’s your situation). My mom took off the week my son was born to help us but my husband was still home and we were doing ok, so I think next time I’m going to ask her to take off the week that my husband goes back to work.
I echo what many others are saying. This video is fantastic, and so incredibly informative! I’m 35 weeks. I have been scrambling to get organized before baby arrives, but I have felt clueless and unsure of what to do. Your video is jammed packed with great information and you laid it out so clearly. I know this has helped many first time moms, including myself! I will watch again and take detailed notes. :) thank you so much! I’m so grateful!
Another thing that goes along with the car mirror and car related is a window shade! I've heard a lot of people regret not installing some sort of shade if you have your baby in the summer or a sunny day. Hopefully this helps expecting mamas
100% agree about researching baby sleep/feed/cues. I prepared SO much about what to buy and what we needed but nothing about what to do once baby got here. Taking Cara Babies was a life saver
31+4 today and feeling grateful for these RU-vid videos. I have a mom and MIL who are the ones giving me the most (somewhat un-useful) advice. Aka they often say the opposite thing as each other. I’ve come to realize that different things work for different women and babies and that I just need to reassume control of my nesting prep. Thank you for listing so many things that most people don’t talk about!
I'm due august 2021. Only 1 week and i'll be entering the third trimester. My son and my little girl are like 8 years apart. So it's like starting all over again. I'm so glad I came across this video. Just so I can have a checklist..
I’m due May 26 , I’ll be entering my third trimester in two weeks . First baby , very anxious & excited. I’m definitely a checklist person so I’m ready to start checking off things. Good luck to all the moms out there .
@@morgandrummond9551 Hey! How exciting, congrats to you. This is my first pregnancy , and I been watching all kinds of videos. I even started my own Pregnancy series to look back on.
Saw this video in my second Trimester and I cannot thank you enough. This is the most Informative and Real video out there. Baby boy is here and is three months old. I had to come back and say THANK YOU!!! HUGS ♥️
I will be in my third trimester next week, this was crazy helpful!! I feel so unprepared and nervous for my first baby, and this laid out a lot of things I need to do. Thank you so much!!
Such a helpful video! Thank you! 28 weeks with my first and while I’m so excited, I’m so nervous! ❤ Definitely overwhelmed by all that needs to get done in the next 10 weeks or so.
I have a 13 month old and I'm vegan as well, before I had him I made vegan lasagna, Shepards pie, and soups to freeze 😊 I also wish I researched more on feeding. I 100% wanted to breastfeed but he wouldn't latch and I was so overwhelmed by all of a sudden having to figure out everything about formula feeding.
For my second pregnancy, my sister camped out on my couch for 3 weeks, just so my older daughter was being taken care of, and because of Braxton hicks, we didn't know when I would be in labor. So thankful ❤❤❤
SO helpful!! I’m 29 weeks tomorrow and feeling underprepared already so this was everything I needed to get on the right track to feeling confident and prepared when baby gets here ❤️
This is fascinating. Im 17 weeks pregnant with my first and so many of these things I've NEVER thought about. Im glad I still have time to look into all of this, cuz boy i know id end up clueless and freaked out lol. Thank you for so much valuable info!
I added to my checklist: Get ready all the paperwork that the baby needs before labour, and know what paperwork have to be done after born. (Maybe there will be more documents to get done in one country than another. Or if the case is that the baby is going to have a double citizenship.) It is included here all that has to do with benefits, maternity leave...
Watched so many of these, currently pregnant with my third and this has been the best and most accurate for prepping for baby. I needed a refreshers course 😊 Thanks for sharing.
Girl, ME TOO*. I'm 33 weeks first time mom, & sweating the breastfeeding/sleep & feeding schedules/& of course the whole LABOR PART....have you done a birth plan??
Great video, as always!! 🥰 Wanted to add: for those researching how to feed a baby - EXCLUSIVELY PUMPING IS A THING!! I had no idea it was even an option until I unintentionally ran into the scenario! Research how to pump, best pumps, how to size a pump flange, research bottles and bottle nipple sizes, research pumping/feeding schedules. If it turns out to be an option you are slipped into or choose to do, ALLLL the information ahead of time will save you tears and stress ❤❤
I exclusively pumped for a year and it was great! My baby still got breast milk & I was able to get extra help with feedings. Doing it again with this pregnancy!
Thank you for this video! I’m 27 weeks pregnant with my first baby and i’m trying to research everything i can and learn about this journey! This is really helpful! 😘
I’ve got a 6 day old baby and I searched up apps to track his sleep, I found Huckleberry and it’s been fantastic! Especially throughout the night I put the timer on so I can see how long he sleeps for, that way I don’t have to calculate the time!
Due in 4 weeks! Thanks we are actually wanting to not have a bedside setup. We did that with my 2nd and she never wanted to sleep in her room. I got a snuggle me to keep him in his crib. And bought a rocker recliner to stay over in his nursery. To try to have him be used to his room.
I am currently 30 weeks pregnant with twins & honestly I found this video so relevant, helpful & extremely informative! Thank you mumma for sharing ! 💯 I will Definitely have your video saved so I can do a checklist type thing 😍😍
This was so amazing to watch, I literally took two pages of notes. I’m in my second trimester. I am so lucky to have found this. You seem like a great mom. I’m subscribing for more tips and help cause I am a first time mom
I would add looking up lactation consultants before the baby is born and having them come regardless of whether you think you’re doing well or not. They weigh the baby before and after the feeding, they tweak things during the nursing session, give you advice, help if the latch isn’t deep enough, etc.
This was so well done! I love how you addressed questions we should know the answers too but didn’t give us the answers so WE WILL go hunt down those classes/information. I’ve been watching bby videos for months now (literally 2-5 a day 😅😂)and this is the first one in over a month that actually addressed things I hadn’t thought of or come across yet. Thankyou! 😍
Alliy thank you for your insightful video and good luck with your growing family. As a first time Grandma, I found your tips and stories truly helpful. It’s been 31 years since I brought home our daughter and things have changed! You have given me ways to help that same daughter as she prepares to have her first child. Really good advice. Thanks again! 🥰
Just wanted to add about doing research about breastfeeding, sleeping, schedules or anything baby-related, if you don’t think it will help you, don’t do it! It’s good to be armed with helpful information, but if you are the type of person to obsess over those kinds of things, I would recommend not researching into things too much. Just ask your doctor or a trusted fellow mom for advice if any issues come up. Every baby is different so your baby might not follow the exact schedule that is recommended. They might not eat or sleep or play the exact way that you read about online. I know for me, whenever I would get worried about some breastfeeding issue, I would look it up. But that ended up making me much more stressed because of all the conflicting information out there. When I stopped worrying and stopped pumping to help my supply, that is when everything became smooth sailing. And I am now 26 weeks pregnant and still breastfeeding my 15 month old.
I am so thankful for this upload! I am a first time mom and scrambling to get my self prepared enough for this new journey in my life thank you so much this video was so Informative! ❤
I want to take a personal day from work today and just do all of this. This is immensely helpful and I felt confident before the video but now I’m like ohhhh I didn’t think of that. 🙃
New subscriber here & FTM. I’m due in a week and these tips were super helpful! Super nerve racking being a FTM especially with the limited in person resources due to covid restrictions. Good luck to all you new mamas!!
I'm due March 30th, I've been researching everything I can get my hands on since 15 weeks. You bring up some very important and valid points that I've not yet thought of.
I watched this when you first posted it (I'm subscribed and love all your videos) and now I'm back rewatching it because I'm in my third trimester!!! 🤰🏻
Thank you for this! My wife is 25 weeks pregnant. We are in baby registry mode and have become so focused on that we are losing sight of what really matters... how to take care of this child! We both studied to be teachers and know a lot about children but not much about newborns.
Omg I can't believe how many good points you made that I totally would never have thought of. Like don't keep the carseat in the car beforehand just in case you get into an accident, or to sterilize pump parts. Pregnancy brain has me totally fried. Thank you so much.
This was such a helpful video.. I am the first time mom. I wrote down everything on the to do list that you mentioned in the video and I feel so much more prepared to tackle this before baby arrives!
Thank you for this list! FTM due mid March! I found your channel at the beginning of my pregnancy, and have been researching/ preparing everything as I am now in the third trimester!
I just found out that you don’t have a nursery nurse in the US😲 I’m from the Netherlands and we have a ‘kraamverzorgende’ that educates and support the parents how to take care of the baby in the first week home (costs are included in health care insurance, it’s mandatory because they do daily check-ups of health of baby and mom). It was still helpful to what’s your video to know what to expect. Respect for US (and other countries?) mommas figuring things out on there own!
When breastfeeding follow babies hunger cues. Feed on demand. Know if baby is wanting to nurse constantly it's normal and it's how baby builds your supply. When baby is wanting to nurse constantly it's called cluster feeding. There are a bunch of breastfeeding videos here on RU-vid. There are also IBCLC (international board certified lactation consultant)
Im 38 weeks pregnant and im so happy I got to watch this.. there are things that I completely missed haha and it feels like crunch time now. haha thank you!
This is the video I've been looking for! I've watched so many of these and none of them have shared these types of tips, most just share products but not how to prepare and what to do, so thanks for that!😁👏🌸
I just wanted to say thank you! I greatly appreciate this video so much. I'm due in about 5 weeks and my brain feels so scattered with everything I still need to do.
Thank you so much for this video and the resource links im so excited to use! I feel more confident! Im 30 wks having my first and im so overwhelmed and anxious but after watching your video and using your resources i feel so much better. ❤😁
I’m due April 22nd with my first ❤️ This was very helpful and I just wrote down a ton of notes for my husband and I. Definitely subscribing to your channel! By the way your make up and hair is stunning!
Just on pre- sterilising: it's only 'sterile' if the steriliser container hasn't been opened and only for 12 hours. (Also dishwashers can be hot, but don't officially reach sterilising temp, if it did, it would be an autoclave) There's a reason anything sterile at hospital has sealed packages. So totally pre-wash, but sterile doesn't last so don't bother.
Lol this will be my 3rd baby and def needed a refresher and reminder lol im actually 2 weeks away from my due date and have everything on this list but def needed a reminder just in case i was missing anything important. Thanks 🙏🙏🙏
Wow so organised! I’m terrible for winging it and it always works out so don’t worry to all those who are sorting it out a day before baby come or days after.
Randomly came across this! THANK YOU SO MUCH for taking the time to make this. Was super thorough, detailed and extremely helpful ! Very grateful for this information. I am due with baby #1 April 22 and I can't tell you how refreshing this is and how relieved I am every time I come across such great information to help in being more prepared listening to stories from other mama's who have been there and done that! I pray this continues to reach the masses as this is very valuable information ! Much Love to you Alliy !!
First off- new subbie! This video was the truth! This is exactly what I was looking for in terms of content. I had a baby 12 years ago so everything is new. I feel like everything should be intuitive since I’m a second time mom, but honestly, I simply don’t remember everything, plus, my breastfeeding journey was horrible and only lasted about 3 months last time. I really want to get better sleep etc., especially since I’m 35 now and not the young woman I was when I had my son 12 years ago. I know the key to that is prep and research. We didn’t have all these resources 12 years ago, and I didn’t have the budget to attend a million child prep classes (I did lamaze at about 32 weeks, and read What to Expect When Expecting, but that was about it). I remember being exhausted all the time, and I cut off all my hair (its waist length, curly, thick and very time consuming). I just want to get as much knowledge as I can early on, and now that I can afford a lot more I want to give my child the absolute best thats out there (as long as it makes sense ie: I’ll be renting the Snoo, no need to buy it since its my last child, etc.). Ok, my rant is over lol. Thank you so much!
This is so sooo helpful. Going to be a ftm to a little boy in the end of March. We are moving into a new house in the end of February. I’m so glad to have this to help out especially with this pregnancy brain 💙💙💙💙💙
Such a good note on the car seats! The nurses at the hospital aren’t allowed to put the baby in the car seat for you because they are usually not car seat “certified”!
I am due with baby 11 in less than 2 months and you really do not need that much unless you homebirth. It amazes me how much I fussed over the firsy baby for being ready and yet I did not need 90% of what I did. Lol It is SO MUCH SIMPLER than we could ever imagine to begin with (I believe our society has brainwashed people into thinking they need to do "more")... The older the ways you can do things, the easier, better and cheaper it will be on you! 😅
I've always struggled with strollers when I was a nanny or babysitting for friends so I made sure to practice opening and closing it, but I never thought of practicing with the car seat!
This was very helpful! I am very keen on breastfeeding (and later breastfeeding, pumping and bottlefeeding), but I was initally planning on just getting a pump a little further down the track once I was looking to return to work. This makes me realise I should probs have the pump Ready to go in case they can't latch and I want to pump straightaway, as well as look into formula just in case end up going down that path.
I ended up buying a pump from the hospital pharmacy the second day after delivery because my babe had to go to the nicu and couldn't latch effectively. Definitely good to figure out which one you want and have in ready to go in your bag!
