revolutionary subtle game idea: being able to make and name tabs in your inventory , and then putting whatever you want in them . example: making a flowers tab and putting whatever flowers you find in it . or a crops tab when you put whatever you grew and are keeping in it .

This game looks incredible! I'm sus of white museum curators in general though, but especially this one planning on expanding without having explicitly consulted native folks first on what would be best for their community, instead asking some random fellow non-native (even native Indonesian players are newcomers to Coral Island) and asking them to dig up/potentially desecrate the island for artefacts. I also wish there was more commentary on how the player character is not native but owns more land than anyone. This definitely reflects real life like Mark Zuckerberg (and the US in general) in Hawaii for example, but it doesn't feel like there's critique in game yet (aside from a few townies being vaguely dismissive), just the player being rewarded for doing things presumably the locals have been doing or would be doing if they had the resources. I get that the game is trying to get players to engage in the story and become part of the world, so they don't want to make them uncomfortable or other them too much, but there are ways they could have had the PC look to others for guidance and ways to help as a community rather than it just being an individualist white saviour fantasy (again, you don't have to be white to be a white saviour, just outside of said community, but as players like Kayla and other white people have access to the game, it is an added concern). I say all this as a white person too, but I've learned from many BIPOC how harmful these kinds of ideas and realities are (for example, European gatekeeping of African artefacts or Hawaiian natives asking tourists not to visit because of how devastating it is environmentally etc.). I know the game was made in Indonesia and I've never been nor know the exact political dynamics there etc. (though I know South Asia - which the game is based on generally - has an overtourism issue for example) and I'm absolutely not critiquing the gameplay, stunning world, diverse characters and clear narrative showing the harm of white supremacist capitalist corporations devastating nature and culture particularly in the global South, but I feel there is nuance lacking where the PC does not have to reflect on their own impact and collusion with these destructive forces. At least not yet. They're clearly setting up for an arc where hopefully the PC isn't just the chosen one and does in fact collaborate more with the locals, but as of right now, it feels iffy. Anyway, a 4 month old stream recording isn't the place for this critique lmao but this is my first viewing of the game and I wanted to share in case anyone else comes back and watches and feels similarly, or wants to discuss. I'm a writer too and am still learning what the best ways are to connect with people and help make change are, so I can't say this is definitely the wrong way to go about the story, especially not having seen more of it, but I just needed to vent!

Bali is in Indonesia, all the shrine in coral island is inspired from shrine that exist in Bali, Indonesia. Sesajen is Indonesia word for Offering, you will find a lot of sesajen in bali especially in front of people houses, you put offerings as offerings to the gods for the blessings that have been given, it is a culture and religion things (hinduism). a lof of those carvings on the shrine is the hallmark of shrine or house gates sculpture in Bali. Because the developer is from Indonesia, therefore they want to bring up Indonesian folklore/culture.

The game reminds me of Wylde Flowers in the setup and some animations.
