Actually, the Otome game and similar premises in Manhwa started after the japanese web novel trend. The Japanese one began around 2012-2013 and started getting big in 2014 (for example, the series you talk about in this video started began in 2014).
@Monosquevenanime Which manhwa is what? No, I don't know for sure when exxactly the Otome isekai-like trend began in the web comic manhwa scene nor which manhwa did it first, but I do remember them starting being a thing only as of a few years ago.
Otome Isekai really started booming a lot online around late 2016/early 2017. It’s become a popular genre in Korean web novels as of late, with equal amount of web comics being adapted. Most take influence for Destruction Flags Otome, and follows the beats of a modern girl waking up as the villainess of an otome game/romance novel, and changing the story due to her knowledge of the ending.
I am mostly not into reverse harems that much but Bakarina feels like that exception to me. I really like the main heroine a lot and it feels so amusing with all the interactiosn the cast has. If I had to pick best boy... i want to say keith as he is the one who I liked from the moment I first saw him. Hopefully the anime will be good.
She wants to be a farmer so she can prepare for when she "inevitably" (even tho haha no) gets exiled by the crown prince and she wants to learn how to fight or know any means of countering the crown prince's "possible" (and again HA ha Haa no) full frontal attack against her "the villainess" when the times comes. It's not super annoying because in a weird way it makes sense, her "fail-safe life plan" that is.
I’d recommend my death flags show no sign of ending, a guy who gets reincarnated into a game as the villain who is cursed with a sharp tongue making him a super adorable Tsundere.
I started reading the light novel and got like...90 pages in? and then I just wanted flip the damn table and could take no more. Literally every single thing could get solved and improved apon if he didnt act like such an asshole. Are we supposed to sympathise with this guy? Even when the girl he saved comes to thank him, he has to be a damn asshole about it.
Nice review! I agree with you, the repetitiveness of the POV chapters is unwanted. Honestly, the entire series could have been done and finished in the first two volumes. I only kept reading because I love Katarina as a character lmao. The series is pretty much mindless fluff after the disaster endings stuff ends. Again nice review and hopefully you’ll check out the anime adaption too!

Heh, funny that you mention that it could've been done and finished in the first two volumes, because the author originally was planning to only do two volumes total for the story, but then it came to be so popular that they decided to just keep going with the story.

Totally agree! The cast is really fun, but I really feel like the author doesn't really know what to write anymore. Scene retelling or not, the plot points are the same, the characters never develop and never even think about anything else than Katarina. When you're used to the bickering of the harem and the occasional kidnapping, you won't find anything new in the future chapters. I'd love it if the author would just give the supporting cast some goals, development, just anything that doesn't have to do with advances on Katarina

My life as a villainess literally is the plot of every Isekai Manhwa/Manhua out there. The FL reads a novel and goes to that world and takes the role as the Villainess and tries to not die due to the ML.

@@BetshebaSirait Only in Japanese. The guy in the video claims that Volume 5 is already out in English, which just isn't true. Only the first 4 volumes have been released in English so far.

@@BetshebaSirait Hmm, that's weird. Amazon claims Volume 5 won't be released until January of next year, but when I went to the book's page itself, it let me buy it. It's also surprising that it's available so soon after Volume 4 was released last month, but I guess since Volume 5 is a short story collection, it could be localized more quickly? In any case Volume 6 is *NOT* available on either Amazon nor J-Novel, and even if J-Novel does get some releases more quickly, they won't deliver to my Kindle.
When this subgenre first came out it gave a new twist to the isekai genre, but it has now introduced a trope where the heroine is actually a manipulative person. Bakarina was one of the few exceptions, probably because it came out around when the subgenre was still kinda new
@@zedantXiang it goes on it's own adventure with new characters, it's basically the same, just with no worry of destruction flags. She's still dense as ever. Also, she gained yet another member for her harem, one that actually gave her a hickey.

normally id recommend re zero however the light novel likes to end on big cliff hangers so id recommend you try reading re zero after volume 15 releases because volume 15 doesnt end on a cliff hanger.
