Roblox expert here: there are some games within Roblox that have their own currency that do not depend on robux. You do not have to purchase this currency but it takes a lot of time to build up. I think that is what the daughter is referring to, I do not think that 60k actual dollars was actually spent, which is why she also told the niece to “work her way up” per se

While the niece deserves to have everything taken, OP should have her daughter give back what isn't hers. If there were items that she didn't get back, then hold back enough to compensate her. That will teach both girls about justice and fairness. Don't make it about revenge.

I think the resolution fits the crime. Maybe now the niece won't steal from others. I would send some items, one at a time once a week! But I would not give everything back. 😅

For robux, the reason these things add up so much, is ALSO BECAUSE... Some items are earned via gameplay. They can then be sold for robux, based on market value. SOME items can get incredibly valuable, depending both on the items asthetic, as WELL as the achievements, they represent. Basically. Their daughter WORKED for these items, and they have real world value AS WELL as in game value. Even just one of these would be enough in this situation, for op to not be the a hole. The rw monetary value, is just another nail in this coffin.

I’ve been more concerned about the fact of the items was worth $1500 which means she stole $1500 worth of things is the principle of the thing it’s not what she stole. It’s how much it was worth the committed grand larceny.

We’re just going say taking everything from the niece’s roblox account is like collecting interest on a loan. OP’s daughter “loaned” her cousin her Roblox funds against her will. The funds have been paid back and since they weren’t paid back quickly, they’ve collected interest and The National Bank of OP is simply taking what’s owed 📈📊😂🥴

Ok so for the Roblox story from everything that was said I can pretty confidently say that the game was royale high, I (21F) have played this game for years and have been hacked and lost everything with no way of getting it back without buy it from others, ofc with rarer items like halos and items from when the game first came out that stuff would cost millions of the game currency (diamonds). The currency is actually pretty hard to get and can take weeks-months to get even a million and that’s if you play a couple hours a day. I understand the pain and sadness of losing everything to a hacker especially after spending so long to get that stuff. I started playing about 7 years ago and still haven’t won a halo so that hopefully helps show just how rare some items really are

Oh gosh I gotta get in on the next stream and educate yall on Roblox. Im 22 and I play it as a backup from my F.P.S games. There are +17 chats and games, as well as Horror games, fps remakes (such as Call of Duty for example) It expands much further than i think people realize, and its actually kinda fun😂 (Plus i think they are working on adding more and more adult only features as well)

I'm 37 and I still remember how I cried when the Blizzard servers got punked and all Battle net accounts got deleted. I had a 78 lvl Necromancer in Diablo II that took me two years to make, to collect the sets, legendary runes and all, and one day, it was all gone. If my son gets upset over some punk stealing his loot, I'd be more upset than him.

It shouldn't even matter how important the roadblocks are to her it's the fact the 10 year old did something wrong no matter how old the other person is she should have to correct her wrongdoing and if her mother isn't going to teach her that then I am very glad the aunt is willing to because that is going to help her out in the long run of life

The caller saying she had "no freedom as a child" cause her mother gave her a 10pm curfew is crazy to me. I wasn't allowed out of the house period, didn't matter what time of day it was. I could only go outside on my way to school and then as soon as school ended I had to be right back home. This continued even throughout college when I was 19-20 years old.

Also, the Roblox story sounds a lot like the Neopets story (Neice stole the Aunt's Neopet's account, and the Neice's mother had no problem with it. DECADES of gameplay, stolen, because the other adults in the room didn't see the problem with teaching their child that stealing is wrong, no matter how big or small... and that wasn't small)

Story 2: My great-aunt and her husband divorced shortly after their retirement. They were always a two-income household, no kids, and to be perfectly honest she was always OCD when it came to home maintenance. But when they were both at home all day and he refused to pitch in, she got disgusted and left. I suspect that's what happened here. NTA, the apple doesn't often fall far from the tree.

As a parent and gamer, it's really not about the game at all. If someone came into my home and stole from my daughter and I let them stay that would be betraying my daughter, she would know that just because it's important to her but not to me that I would let someone steal from her and she couldn't trust me to stand up for her and have her back. I would never want my kid to feel like I wouldn't be in her corner and let people take from her.

Y’all by the way, you don’t have to use any real money. If she was spending that much time in game, she was earning a lot of in game coins just by doing tasks in it. So it’s possible that she wasn’t spending any money. But yeah, it takes a lot of time to build up that much stuff. It doesn’t really make a difference to me that real money wasn’t spent. The principle of it is that they’re being stolen from and disrespected in their own home.

The roblox one. "Its just a game". Stealing is stealing. It doesn't matter if its in game, or real life. That'd be like making attempted murder legal because you didn't die. 🤷🏼‍♂️ The mental gymnastics required to make a bad act "not that big of a deal". Its crazyness. Id either kick them out, or make them pay rent. And every bit of rent would go toward rebuilding my childs roblox. To get back everything they had, and more.

I don’t like Roblox, but my best friend and my cousins play the games, and I know they would be devastated if they lost everything like this I would definitely do what OP did for the sake of my cousins and friend because the niece needs to learn that stealing, even if it’s on a video game, is wrong. The neice’s mother should have reprimanded her because by letting her hack op’s daughter, she’s teaching her that stealing is ok to do. It’s not about the game Is about teaching that stealing is wrong I say what op did is sweet justice and karma

Hot take and a conspiracy theory for the 2nd story: OP is the AH. She decided she didn't want the responsibility of being in a relationship anymore. She said they didn't have enough money for a home, so the solution is spending money on vacations? Seems like she wasn't super invested in the relationship, especially after they started living apart. My conspiracy theory is she met someone on her vacation and that was part of the reason she extended it two more weeks.

Its 99 cents before tax to get 88 robux but like what other people have said there's diff games with diff currency and in game items you can buy. I've had my roblox account since hs and I'm 24 now (I still play with friends and my lil' cousins etc). I have thousands of $$$ invested from paying for the monthly membership throughout the yrs etc. When I got hacked as an adult, that was heart stopping so I can only imagine how she felt, but I got my money back after contacting customer service, I will say: they have a policy where they'll refund you once if hacked but anything after they won't help. I had to put all kinds of protection on my account after that. Edit: OML THIS IS ABOUT ROYALE HIGH, that game is insanely hard to get currency in, it's a lot of time and dedication to get money without paying for it with robux, and ppl try for years to get Halos they're nearly impossible to get.

For the first story I think threatening to kick them out when they're already going through such a hard time is too much over a game. I'm not saying that what the niece did was okay I think she still should've received some punishment or consequences for her actions like "if you don't sincerely apologize and give back the items you stole the internet is going off and you won't be able to use roblox or play with any of those items. Or use the internet at all in this house." or something of the sort but to go to such an extreme... At the end of the day it's not right but it is also just a game and these are just kids. They should have reasonable consequences to the crime not just threaten her with homelessness

@aimeelynn403

Kids do things they shouldn’t when they’re going through extremely stressful situations, like your father leaving and having to move out of your home. Stealing a few items on an online game, regardless of sentimental value, is honestly extremely mild compared to how a lot of kids react. Having the guilt of causing yourself and your mother to be temporarily homeless is not going to help. Then as if that isn’t enough punishment, they do the same thing she did back to her. I could understand the daughter seeking revenge, but a fully grown adult seeking revenge on a potentially traumatized kid is actually gross.

I agree that kids do things they shouldn’t when they’re going through extremely stressful situations but, imo, it’s more of things like lashing out at parents, teachers, and friends (not bullying bc that’s a whole ‘nother ball game), running away from home, skipping class, self-isolating, self-harm, avoiding chores, or getting into drugs. Once we start talking theft, we’re talking more on the line of selfish gain behaviors and I just don’t consider theft of property something that’s done under an “extremely stressful situation” unless we’re talking about a kid that’s experiencing food scarcity and they steal food for survival. The niece doesn’t need roblox to survive.
@aimeelynn403
@aimeelynn403 3 месяца назад
@@chickaweeka that might be your opinion, but that doesn’t make it a fact. Stealing is an extremely common behavior in kids with trauma. Trying to supplement your anxiety or negative feelings with games is also extremely common for children and a lot of adults. Many trauma responses could be labeled as selfish, it doesn’t make them any less of a trauma response

@@aimeelynn403 Beyond gross. Two adults could not fix this? My parents would have thrown the item in dispute away. If we couldn't figure it out and adults entered the chat, nobody had the toy or clothing item. The daughter was definitely wrong for stealing, but that is not the way to support her. She said she felt like the cousin had everything. That's a lot of big feelings for that kid to try to manage. Full disclosure-former child thief-survived the trauma and the drama.
