Hi friends. Here's to clarify why I put the retinol on before the essence. Yes the standard rule is to go thinnest to thickest. However, Naturium does not have any silicone to be an occlusive product & I find it to be very light & almost water-like. I want the Retinaldehyd to be the ingredient that sinks into my skin first because we all know that it's the one that can make the biggest changes. It just works for me to do it this way & I'm having great results! It may not work for you. Remember to customize your skincare routine to your own specific needs & desires for your skin. Love u guys & hope this helps. I actually kind of took a page from Sunday Riley. They tell you to put on your Good Genes serum after your night oil. And remember, it's ok to experiment with your products. Do what's best for your skin. 😊❤

I use retinaldehyde cream serum first too. Do I need to wait for it to “sink in” before I put on my moisturizer? I have super dry and dehydrated skin….thx!

Yes, when you said this is what you do for your job and I thought yes, at the end of the day getting to Indulge in your obsession for work is a blessing & a gift... Then I smiled & thought your husband gets to enjoy the benefits of your job as well, which is having a wife that looks younger then you are, and he appreciates that, what man wouldn't,? he is proud of you anyhow, but it's great he is impressed when you both are walking in where his buddy's are as well... yes men talk among themselves as well , they might be worse then some women, and is feeling the WoW factor, trust me I am fortunate to be in tune and"buddies " with men and have joked & talked with men on levels 75% of women never have or will. Yhep he is proud of you and even proud he gets to be that man with that woman that does feel good, looking good... taking the time and doing the work that keeps yourself and others saying WOW. BY the way, how is hubby doing? Is he holding up okay ? Tell him we ask about him too, 🌷

@geel1866 hi Gee, you are such a darling! Bill is doing well. His knee surgery was a success. He's such an amazing hubby. He cheers me on everyday. & when I'm crying because I'm a little lost with this job, he reassures me & wipes my tears. You're comment gave me the biggest smile. I do know men talk because at Bill's work, every single guy watches me! Isn't that the craziest thing ever!? Lol. And boy oh boy, I'm sure I'd love to know a few of the things you know from your guy talks! I might blush a bit. Love you to pieces girl!

Melissa, Your skin is looking fantastic and I can't believe the difference in the darkness around your eyes from when you first started your channel. You are reverse aging girlfriend. I love castor oil & first learned about the benefits when I was in Virginia Beach & went to the Heritage Store & the Edgar Cayce research Center. One of his books talked about castor oil and a flannel cloth for all kinds of problems. Like stomach ailments, joint pain, headaches, eye & ear infections. Warm some and put it on your scalp, followed by a shower cap & top with a turban towel the night before you wash. It's wonderful for dry scalp, hair thickness, and growth. I've been using Urea cream since I lived in Germany and still use the German brand and the German Nivea Creme. We don't sleep with the heat on. Down bedding is so nice in the winter. I truly mean it when I say you are turning back the 🕰

Hi Melissa! I have a question. Why do you use a toner that cleans the pores AFTER you have applied the retinol serum? Seems to me it would clean it out of the pores? I am sure you have a good explanation but it makes me wonder'

Hi Melissa! OMG I just received my Naturium Ret. Serum, it literaly in the mailbox! I too cant use the prescription! I have tried and tried to use prescription for years and have decided no more! Its not worth it, it has ruined the surface of my skin and not to mention the expense of it! I am a dry flaky mess and tired of it! I randomly found this serum and ordered it and then it became huge on here and now here comes all the advertisements. I am so glad you use it too! Hope you are doing well!!

Hello Melissa! I l love this video! I wanted to share with you that I've only recently become a budding skincare junkie. I've always cleansed my face quite thoroughly, using micellar water for the first step and a fragrance free foaming gel-liquid for the second, and I've always used a basic moisturizer and a good mineral-only sunscreen. I've added a Vitamin C serum and the Paula's Choice Peptide Booster serum, and I'm so very happy! I've got rosacea and some other sensitivity issues, so retinols/oids/als will probably never be part of my routine. But I started with the Vitamin C serum a few months ago, and just added the Peptide serum this week. A huge difference in applying my makeup, and not so scary-looking when I wake up! I adopt new things so slowly, but change is good! I love what you're doing here, and you've inspired me with your fantastic appearance! Thank you for this video.

Oh I just love this for you! Slowly is perfect! Adding things too quick, definitely can make irritation. Don't discount the Retinol use though. Not only is it a complete game changer, but if you start with an actual retinol & not Tretinoin, you might not experience any sensitivity at all! If you'd like I can recommend one or 2. Keep it up doll! I'm so happy for you!

I'm so glad I discovered your channel recently as you are so relatable and down to earth. As you have stated, skincare is very personal, so u need to do what works best for you. On days I work and wear mup, in the pm I use Lancome eye mup remover, cleansing balm, cleanser and a toner. After my shower, I use an essence to prepare the skin and help the products following penetrate deeper. I then use an eye cream and 1 or 2 different serums, moisturizer and face oil. One my my fav recent discoveries I hope to never be without is Facetheory Retin-C Vitamin oil. It is incredibly moisturizing. Amazon sells it for $36 but I purchased mine for $5.99 at TJ Maxx.

Melissa, can you do a video on the best inexpensive products for me to purchase to care for my skin until I get in a better place financially to be able to afford the better more expensive items? The last two years has been really a financial struggle for my husband and I bc of having to pay for my sister’s funeral starting last year in June then my ex husband passed away unexpectedly this July and we’re having to help my son’s stay afloat bc they are having to pay rent and weekly expenses as well on their dad’s funeral. This chain of events has really been hard but I need some decent skin care so any suggestions you can give me to help would be so appreciated. Thank you beautiful! I love your new hair as well! Your skin and makeup always looks perfect and I watch you all the time even if I don’t have the time to comment always. ❤

I have been using the Junoskin makeup remover balm for quite awhile. I have to say it is the best I have ever used. It effectively removes waterproof mascara and other makeup without having to harshly scrub or rub your eyes or face with only one use. Others I would have to back in sometimes 3 times! And it's affordable! I have to tell you I've been using the Benton Snail Bee eye cream for several weeks also and already am seeing great results. And it doesn't irritate my eyes! I'll have to try the essence next! Right now I am using Naturium vitamin c serum, and retinol serum. They are working ok, but I feel like I need a bit more. So I ordered the retinaldihyde! Can't wait to start using it! Love your videos! I can really tell a difference in your skin recently. So smooth and glowing! Beautiful as always!

Hi Melissa it’s a good routine and is obviously working well for you. I however have both rosacea and eczema, so my skin is ultra sensitive and my products have to be gentle. At night I double cleanse with an oil/balm (normally from a Korean brand) and then use a very gentle cleanser- however I only single cleanse if not wearing makeup. I switch night about between copper peptide and retinaldehyde (at a lower strength) as my “active”. In the morning I use azelaic acid and alpha arbutin as my actives btw. I’m super dry/dehydrated so I use a few layers of toner, essence and serums for that hydration I desperately need. I often use a cream for face and body as a last step- I need something really thick to seal everything in (usually French pharmacy eg LRP or Avene). I have to be very careful around the eyes with any type of retinoids due to rosacea caused dry eye syndrome - retinoids can worsen this which is why they recommend applying to the orbital bone rather than the lid and lash line. Best wishes x

Sweetie, do makeup remover, cleanser, Retinaldehyd & then moisturizer. If you only do that, you'll notice improvements if you're consistent. Then later add other things if you want. No need to try everything to start.

So you first use a vit A cream even around your eyes and then another vit A eye cream? Why don't you use the toner after the cleansing, like it's suppose to? And when you rub everything around you'll probably just wipe it around and diluting everything, don't you have to wait a bit inbetween applications? It doesn't have time to penetrate until you rub the next thing in. It feels like you could just combine everything in a glob and then smear it around.😅 Don't mean to sound disrespectful, I'm just wondering!🌞

Hi I hope you don’t mind but I thought I would share my observations with you in case it helps? I think between wanting it to be a fairly short video and editing it may have seemed like she wasn’t giving time between products? However I have also seen other RU-vidrs say that you don’t need to wait very long at all and some say you don’t need to wait at all. My view on that point is that for me it would depend on how much time I had. If I have the time to sit and pamper and enjoy then I do give each product more time. However if I’m time poor I just get it on, telling myself that something done surely has to be better than nothing done? As to the amount of layers and in particular the vitamin A products Melissa used, the fact that they are not first line or first generation (my terminology as a way of describing them as I can’t remember the science 😆) vit A products means that they are not so harsh on the skin and in Melissa’s case having tried probably all of the brands out there she can now be very sure of how much her skin can tolerate. Also having super dry skin in a very dry climate I imagine it would feel like her skin is super thirsty and just drinks it up? Personally my combo to oily sometimes sensitive skin would not be able to tolerate so many layers, not just of the vit A I also wouldn’t be able to cope with so many thicker creamier products/moisturisers. But we do have a rather humid climate here. I am only just venturing into the second generation/third generation vit A products, Im using the beauty of Joseon eye cream which I believe is like a 3rd generation vit A but I am using it all over my face and neck as it is not only being tolerated by my skin it is also very affordable. I will once I have almost used up my supply of that I will look into the next step up for my face but knowing how well my eyes tolerate this eye cream for now I’m not going to tempt fate and change it. I think the other thing to remember is that just as Melissa always says, this is what she has found via experimenting that these products are what work for her and we need to experiment and discover what works for us. On the other hand the part where I got confused was at what point she uses the caster oil? I did rewind but still didn’t catch on, do you know if she meant the caster oil and the urea she used for slugging where an either or situation and not a both can be used situation?

😅 Melissa had such a great slower teaching style. She has sped up and edited in a different style. Love her teaching no non- sense style over the years. She has great products I buy💄🥰

Thanks so much! I use the Nira too for quite awhile now. (FYI, I'm doing a special video for them in November) and I just started to incorporate Red Light Therapy & Microcurrent. I'm trying to hit it at on all fronts! Lol

I am glad you like to talk because I like to listen! Such good information! I have a similar cloth but mine was a lot more expensive. I will probably order some of yours. I have tried several different retinols and can't tell any difference. I may try yours as well. How long do you have to use before you can tell a difference? I am very dry as well and have tried the Japanese urea eye cream and can't tell any difference. We have tons of humidity in Indiana, and I would definitely share. Love all of your information and knowledge.Thank you!

Do you know how to use castor oil for joint pain? Thanks so much 💕😊
@MrsMelissaM
@MrsMelissaM 10 месяцев назад
So I've been told that you can put it on a cotton pad, some people are putting on panty liners (yep panty liners, who knew?🤷🏼‍♀️ Which is smart because it won't soak through & them taping it or rapping it around the joint. My hubby has a bum knee & we've been doing it. He says his pain is diminished by about 30%. I think that really good so far.

Hey Melissa! These are some interesting products. Unfortunately using tret I can’t use niacinamide or L-ascorbic acid. Do you have a recommendation for Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate? Also do you have a recommendation for a cleansing oil? I was using DHC cleansing oil but it’s so expensive. I’m using the Hada Labo Gokujun but I don’t really like it either. It’s so light and requires so much more product. Also, can you add Castor oil in with moisturizer? I add jojoba oil to mine and it helps a lot. To many questions I know but you know how much I rely on your recommendations. Love you bunches! Thanks for everything!

Thanks for recommending the cleansing balm by Juno Skin. I ordered it, it came today and am looking forward to trying it tonight. I was double cleansing with my cleanser, but this will be better followed by the cleanser. BTW, have you tried Clean towels by Clean Skin? I live using them instead of a wash cloth. I use it a couple of times snd throw it away.

Ypu said you use the retinol eye cream in the day and i have a few questions. Does it work well under most concealers? Is it hydrating enough for dry undereyes and if not can i mix it with a hydrating eye cream? And one more, does the sun interfere with the retinol or do you put sunscreen u der your eyes? Sorry for all the questions but i have looked everywhere for an eye cream that gives results and i love Dermatologys vitamin c serum! Im getting more on black friday for sure.

Hi Ashley. I use it first, it's a serum, give it a minute or 2 to sink in. Then use the hydrating eye cream. Then my spf. It seems OK. Just use very light layers & let them sink in.

I think you have a great routine with excellent products but for me personally everything you use is to expensive for me or just not available in in Stores in Canada, we don’t have a quarter of what’s available in Stores here and our prices are more than just the dollar difference it’s that plus about 35% . Anything that could be considered beauty related is absolutely insane in price and every time I go repurchase something the cost has gone up again, I think it’s fabulous that you can afford to buy everything you use day and night or get it gifted but many of us can’t even come close to what you spend on skin care alone .

I bet that's so frustrating Melanie. I wish it was consistent in Canada with the States prices.
