@@constructingadditionalpylo8597 I'm only on day 3 of not taking it, so I have no idea how my skin is going to react! I remember having quite angry acne in my early teens and the odd breakout here and there but it all seemed to calm down when I went on the pill. Though my skin was still oily, weirdly enough, I didn't have any sort of clusters of breakouts, just the odd mount Everest on my face here and there. I'm just trying to prepare myself for how I would have taken care of my skin before going on the pill, should I have known better about skincare and the different needs!

Hey just to let you know, natural doesn't necessarily mean it will be good for sensitive skin (eg essential oils are considered natural, however can be irritating, and many 'unnatural' ingredients can be very gentle and beneficial to the skin) I would look into products without any fragrance/essential oils too, as any fragrance (even natural fragrance) isn't great for sensitive skin (or any skin to be honest) Hope this helps :)
@melaniemurphyofficial
@melaniemurphyofficial 4 года назад
I mentioned at the start that I can't use certain essential oils :) By natural and gentle I just mean that - I know there's no ingredients hiding that are listed as not proven safe for pregnancy!
@94smithee1
@94smithee1 4 года назад
@@melaniemurphyofficial Even if your skin doesn't react to it now, it can potentially in the future as your skin can build up a sensitivity to it over time! Having a small amount in your products is unlikely to do much harm however if they are quite strongly scented, and in multiple products that you use, it might not be great for the skin, and could be causing some irritation even if unnoticed Which is kind of annoying because some products smell so good haha

Note on the 'products not safe for pregnancy' section...PLEASE do your own research if you're going ahead and using any of these while pregnant, it's up to each individual of course however the issue is that these ingredients *haven't been proven SAFE during pregnancy* and many women don't want to take chances. Others don't mind. I've compiled this list having done a lot of online research, having talked to specialists and keep in mind, this is me being overly cautious, but I've also spoken to my doctor and she explained to me the reason a lot of topical ingredients and medications aren't recommended during pregnancy, saying the same thing as what I've found in my research - *no proven safety* ~ So please don't leave comments saying 'use this or use that anyway don't mind her' because I've been provided with this information directly from specialists...professionals! It's not about natural vs unnatural products at all, either - obviously vitamin A is in food and we can eat it, but in HIGH DOSES in skincare it's not been shown to be safe, however stuff like roaccutane (with vitamin A) has been shown to cause serious, SERIOUS birth defects, like you literally CANNOT take that drug if you intent on getting pregnant. I'm obviously very nervous about miscarriage having suffered one before so please forgive me for being overly careful and not using retinol etc but I'm not spreading misinformation here, I'm informing people about the FACT that: many popular ingredients *have not* been proven safe during pregnancy...I'm also avoiding all of the foods in the 'don't eat during pregnancy' lists so if you're preggo and you're like me you'll gain a lot from this video!

Another tip to avoid premature wrinkles, when you apply face mask, apply upwards towards the temples instead of downwards towards the chin =) My mom is a beautician of over 35 years so 😉 *Consider looking into more into mineral oil/petroleum based products like bio oil, I know it's very popular but it may be something you may want to avoid, especially when pregnant. At least that's what I avoid in my skincare but I'm a little "clean" freak when it comes to ingredients. What a cute bump! 💕

Hey, I am 28 and started having acne at 11 years old. I have despaired as well over the years but in the last couple of years my skin has improved so much. For me it's regular physical activity, a diet low of sugar and aloe vera at night (and clean hands+no face touching, the pandemic is actually helping with that ^^). I still get breakouts when i'm stressed or hormonal, but most of the time i can look in the mirror and be happy and grateful. I used to do clay masks, it helped but dried out my skin. I recommend not letting the clay completely dry out but applying a thick layer (1cm) on problem areas (it absords more that way). You can buy powdered green clay at health shop and make your own, much cheaper. Just be careful not to put it in contact with metal, it cancels out some benefits (apparently, not a scientist here). I mix it with filtered water and some oil (organic extra virgin olive oil is actually really good, inside and out!). Sorry for the ramble, I realise you didn't ask for advice. But I feel you, having acne, especially when other's don't anymore, can really get to your confidence.

@@eloisekerjean9677 when you say aloe Vera do you mean 100% aloe Vera or where do you find it? I've heard people mention it before but the only one I can find is like the after sun type
@eloisekerjean9677
@eloisekerjean9677 4 года назад
@@amberjadeharding3241 I find it in Holland and Barrett 'certified Aloe Vera gel', all green 200ml tube. It's not 100% aloe but almost. It's great for inflamaned acne especially, rub it in until it's absorbed, it can take a few minutes. I put it on at night as i've noticed it doesn't mix well with some other cream (aloe kinda creates a layer on your face, so when mixed with other products it can look like 'peeling')

There are really helpful apps for your phone concerning chemicals in skincare, haircare etc and what they contain chemicals wise. The "Think Dirty" app which rates products "dirtiness" from 0 up to 10. Also the EWG website, though mostly American products it does explain in great detail what all the ingredients are and if they are vitamins what they are derived form etc! But Think Dirty is my go to if I want to buy something new, I check first, i dont buy anything with a rating over 3 personally and if the product isn't on there i read the EWG for the individual explanations of each ingredient. xx

Oh my doctor said the opposite, that it prevents allergies if we eat those foods (provided you yourself don't have the allergy and can eat it safely). Avoiding peanuts and not giving them to children when they can eat solids has actually been linked to the development of the allergy to peanuts 🤷 science is weird

Hey hey, not Melanie but i think if you love it, crave it and is not allergic to it, you can definitely eat it! 🥜 I learned that early exposure reduces risk of developing an allergy. i love this video! i am just a little sad that you partnered with teami..they are the leader in detox teas and targeting those who believe they have to loose weight and that they should do it through diahreah teas. i know how you feel about that. i AM glad that it was skin care that you were promoting tho. i understand sponsorships are very important, i just want you to be careful who you work with and the companies full moral code. love you!

They know I'm not a fan of their teas at all, I've publicly bashed all skinny tea products! However there are MANY brands/chain stores etc that sell some products I don't like, while selling others that I adore. I really love the effort they put into their skincare & I know they're really shifting their marketing of some of those other things they sell after a lot of feedback! But yeah, I'd happily promote a certain food brand even if they also make products that I think are gross/would never eat. I hope that makes sense :) When I promote something/partner up, it's for the specific thing(s) I'm talking about. It would be the same if I partnered with a brand like Alpro! They make lots of lovely dairy free things but they also make some products that I HATE haha! x

Hi Melanie! I was wondering how many microneedling sessions have you done to this day. I know you did one video about that, but can we get a kind of update, and how your skin healed..? 😊 I have really sensitive skin. I did one treatment called Infini radiofrecuency, but was having questions about regular microneedling.

Hi Melanie, thanks for the video! It's nice to hear about your routine, and I read your comment that you've consulted some specialists. I like how you try to keep your videos factual and dispel myths. I noticed you say a few times throughout the video that you like natural ingredients and seemed to imply these are more gentle or safer. It might just be a habit, but it's a myth that's commonly repeated that 'natural' / 'from the earth' things are safer. I think repeating this can be misleading. Just a fun fact, Biotrade Cosmeceuticals is actually a Bulgarian brand : )

Sofi Софи I only mentioned natural when explaining that Teami make natural skincare (because some people like to stick to products where they recognize all ingredients just as they might with food!) - and when talking about the face mask, as clay being natural/gentle in that particular case is a big reason why I’m able to use it! As I said at the start I can’t use vitamin A and some essential oils (all natural) and I use products that aren’t natural too, so really didn’t mean to imply that natural is always better! 💚

@@melaniemurphyofficial Thank you replying and I really do appreciate all the work you've already put in to make this a quality video. I hope it comes across that these comments come from a place of love and concern, and are just meant to be constructive. I think it may be more reliable reasoning to say that the clay is safe to use because the ingredients have all shown little to no effect in pregnancy when tested in published peer-reviewed research, not because it's natural. It is common for people to look for natural ingredients, but I think this gives them a false sense of security, so I try not to reinforce that when I can. Kind regards!

Have you tried azelaic acid? It's pregnancy safe. I've been using it for almost a year and Ive found it better than other things I've tried. We can get it off the shelf here is Australia so I don't know the deal in Ireland. PS. I'm 24 weeks preggo.

I have very dry sensitive skin and pregnancy has made it 100x worse :( I’m just curious about the face mask, does it have any sort of tingling feeling once you put it on?

Ginny H it does! If your skin is dry I’d go for serums/creams twice a day, hyluronic acid & ceramides 😍

The pixi glow tonic is actually not as good as people think it is watch Hiaram on RU-vid he is a skin specialist that tells people that most overhyped products are actually not that beneficial for the skin.

I've seen him talk about it and I really love his reviews, that's how I first heard about Teami for example - through him! However I don't agree with everything he has to say on products, like I personally get along fine with fragrances. I know he's a fan of Susan Yara and she's the same she uses products he doesn't like! With the glow tonic I go by the results I see personally from the glycolic, I also have the one from the Ordinary but the % glycolic is a little high for what I need right now! :) x
