Here is a condensed version of my daughter's birth. Hope you enjoy this story time video. Every birth is different and unique. Here's my story. I'm so thankful for God's protection through it all. And for a healthy daughter on the other side! Best wishes to all you pregnant gals out there!
*I know "natural" means a lot of different things to different people. I consider my birth natural because I had no epidural, c-section, or pain meds, (other than Benadryl.)

So nice to hear a non-scary birth story! When I was pregnant with my first baby, everyone kept telling me how difficult birth would be, but I always put myself in a positive state of mind & reminded myself that my body is created to do this & that God is in control. I can attest that not all first-time births are difficult & giving birth doesn't have to be a negative experience. My daughter's birth went smoothly & blessed & I look back on it as a positive experience. Also, there are a lot of things women can do to prepare for giving birth. We need more women encouraging each other!

Thank you for posting! I'm pregnant with my 1st blessing and I have decided on a natural birth. My mother and grandmother scolded and insulted me for choosing natural. I've been so nervous about the pain, but I keep seeing so many positive natural labor and delivery stories. Your story is very reassuring. I have faith that I'll be able to do it.

I was a week and 2 days overdue, in labor for 72hrs, on cervical ripening drugs for 24hrs, and still did not dilate enough. So due to “failure to progress” I had an unplanned c section because they were afraid if I didn’t the complications would become life threatening for me, my baby, or both of us. So unfortunately I did not get to have my beautiful natural birth. My husband and I are currently trying for baby #2 though so maybe I’ll get to have a natural birth next time. The surgery and recovery went smoothly though and I would do anything for my daughter.

@@babybellamy4589 hey, ive never given bith myself, but my mom told me that when she had me it took about 3 hours and she did tear slightly but not much. She said it was an easy fix for the nurse and she barely even noticed it because of the intensity of everything going on. overall she considers it an easy birth..... I also personally take comfort in seeing women with multiple children. It reminds me that giving birth must not be the most traumatizing thing in the world considering so many women are willing to/want to do it multiple times

@@babybellamy4589 I would recommend reading Ina May's Guide to Childbirth! It will help you feel confident and less anxious about your birth. Also, look into perineal massage to help prevent tearing during birth. You can start about a month before your due date to help stretch your tissues.

@ruthlytle99 3 года назад
@@babybellamy4589 by now you may have had your baby! Don't fear! I had tearing but I was so overwhelmed by the joy of my baby that I hardly noticed. Also, that part heals very fast. I had tearing because I had precipitous births, but that doesn't always happen. I had 3 babies. One induced. One c-section. One all natural and under 3 hours. They were all different and God's strength and grace was sufficient for each one! No matter how your birth turns out you can depend on God's mercy and strength to get you through it!

This was beautiful, and it is so, SO, important for women to share stories like this. Without stories like these, we cannot combat the Hollywood sensationalised idea of what labour and delivery is like, which actually contributes to higher c-section and complication rates. Thank you. By sharing your very personal story, you're possibly saving many babies from violent birthdays.

My babies are grown, in their early 20's, but this video brought back a lot of memories. You're really right, it doesn't go how you think it will. You just have to have hope and faith and live through it. If I had to relive it all, I would give up the fear and self-doubt and just trust my own body and the process and not let anyone tell me how to feel or what to think.

What a blessing, Megan. With my second baby, I "walked" until my daughter was born. I got up from the hospital bed, turned my blue gown around, and down the hall I went. Mom was trailing behind timing contractions on her wrist watch. Hubby was asleep in the waiting room. Thanks, mom.

Megan, it is so thoughtful of you to share your birth story. So many women warn pregnant moms of the horrors. But it isn't normally that hard. Don't get too worked up about something that may never happen. Just be prepared. 😏 You had an ideal birth. The best thing you did was visualize peaceful things. I delivered my 3 naturally. I focused on a waterfall & it helped me so much to visualize & to dissociate. You did well using the breathing when you needed to. My husband and I took classes & practiced the Lamaze breathing techniques. (I am 68 years old now & still use the breathing exercises to deal with acute pain. You Know, that blinding pain that you know is temporary. I can tough it out by breathing.) Another tip if you are aiming to have a natural delivery & you are using breathing & visualizing but you think you need an epidural, ask if you are in transition. Because for the first two in the hospital I got to a point that I thought I wanted meds! But I realized that was when I hit transition. I was on the home stretch! 👍 My husband & I delivered our third at home. It is still one of my favorite mother memories. I felt so powerful & accomplished❣️

Your child birth story sounds a lot like mine. The difference is, my water broke at home and I was a month early. I had natural childbirth as well. From the time my water broke at home to the time my daughter was born was only 4 hours. It was quick and the pain was tolerable. I named my daughter Christy because she was my gift from God. I chose her name because it has Christ in it. Now that baby girl of mine is 39 years old and has given me 3 beautiful grandkids. My son was born just 13 months later and he has given me 2 beautiful grandkids as well! The Lord has blessed us so much!

I find it fascinating how cultural factors (i.e. where you live and whether you routinely pay for healthcare) affect a person's definition of a successful birth. I would have considered being told not to push when I was ready and the nurses not being qualified to deliver a baby to be outrageous! In the UK you only see a doctor during labour if things go wrong. My experience of midwife led labour (and I really know that this is not the case for everyone) was that they saw their role as mainly monitoring the baby, keeping me calm and letting nature take it's course. I didn't have my faith back then but looking back on my birth, God was definitely there. If you had the presence of mind to journal during labour, that pretty much makes you superwoman! I am a recent subscriber just going back over some of your older content. Thanks for being vulnerable and putting your life out there.

I had a midwife as well (Canada) and an unmedicated natural birth and I cannot imagine if they’d told me not to push. I had no control of my body at that point, I was ready to push and push I did. Like Megan, I had a precipitous (very quick) birth as well, 2 hours of labour and 30 minutes of pushing.

With my first birth I went to the hospital after 3 hard contractions, they gave me a bed and I fell asleep. At 1:30 am they woke me up to check me, I was crowning! She was born at 2:03am! Crazy for sure. I got to the hospital at about 8pm, so crazy. I was at the Hospital at 2 hours with the second, with the third baby I went from 4cm dilated to birth in 45 minutes.

I have 3 children, and they are all in their 50s now, so things were quite a bit more archaic back then. My first was the strangest. I had just been to the doc a couple of days before, and was dilated to 1.5 cm. I woke up in the middle of the night with a sharp pain. I had been having Braxton- Hicks since my third month, but this one was different. I had to go to the bathroom, and I noticed I had lost my mucus plug. I called my hubby, who was at work at the same hospital where I was going to deliver. He asked me if I wanted him to come home, and I said no. I wrote down the time of the first contraction, and tried to go back to sleep, but 7 min later I had another one. That pattern continued the rest of the night. I called my doc at 7:30 am, and he told me to go to the hospital when my contractions were 5 min apart for one hour. I hung up the phone and didn't have another one for 30 min. (after 4-5 hrs of every 7 min) I couldn't believe it, but my 7 min pattern resumed right away, but every once in a while I would skip one. The doctor called me at noon, and I told him what was going on. He told me to come to the hospital and he would examine me. I was SO disappointed to find out I was still 1.5. He said I wasn't in labor yet, but he said he wanted me to come in when they got to 3 min apart. At 11:00 PM I went to the hospital with my hubby, who was working again. I still wasn't making progress, but at 2:30 am they started coming 2 min apart, so I decided to go up to OB. They did check me in, because my contractions were so strong. When they examined me, yep, you guessed it, I was still at 1.5! The doctor came in at noon, and I was pretty miserable with contractions back to back. But I STILL wasn't in labor. He decided to break my water, and he didn't even stand up before the contractions started to be continuous. They were coming so fast and strong I could barely breathe. Less than an hour later my baby boy was born. In those days they didn't have you push. The baby would just be born somehow. According to me, I had 36 hrs of labor. According to my doc, my labor was 1 hr! i was one of those women who upon hearing my baby's cry I forgot all about the pain, and I hadn't seen him yet or found out his sex. The minute I laid eyes on him I also forgot that I had wanted a girl so badly; he was just the baby I wanted. I also wanted another one right now. I did have another boy 13 months later, and a girl 2 years after that. The doc induced me on #2 and #3 because he said I would never make it to the hospital in time. He was right: #2 was only an hour from start to finish, and #3 about 2 hours.

For some reason (when you said your children were in their 50s) I imagined your story took place in the 1950s and was surprised they did inductions back then! But then I realized it’s 2021 and you probably had your children in the 70s. Haha! But definitely an interesting story with your first :)

Yes! That is so similar to my birth in many ways! I had a home birth, he was 41w 5d his labor lasted about 8.5ish hours, with 5-6 being really hard and active. I had pretty intense back labor, but it went quickly and i only pushed for about 40 minutes! And afterwards, i felt the exact same! I was just elated.. I felt like an absolute champion like I could conquer anything. Definitely one of the best days of my life to be sure💙

I was diagnosed with PCOS in December 2020 and it took us 23 months to conceive this one. I don't know if we will have any more. I pray we will, but for a while after this one comes, I have to finish my degree so no baby for a while. I had no complications with my son, pushed for 2 hours. I know I can do this, I want too. I just am binge watching these stories. I won't have any family members there. It will just be my husband and I this time around. I want to have a water birth. My SIL had a similar experience - she wore her regular jeans, etc. all the way up until around the end of 7th month! She barely had a baby bump, and she's not short (though she is quite slim).

I’m gonna be honest here and say that when I go into labor and I’m ready to push, if the doctor isn’t there I’m going to do it anyway. It’s like telling someone to hold in their period…. Immediately no 🤪

giirl you are lucky you didnt think about the tearing. my son came in 10 mins after 6 hours of labor and it felt like a ring of fire "down there" as I was delivering his head. found out later i was tearing 😬

Great video!!! Ty for sharing your birth story...I had two sons and both were Caesarian births, and not easy, actually life threatening for both of us with my second and for my son with my first, thank goodness the Dr. was on the ball and quick to act...today I'm proud to say my sons are two healthy and tall beautiful young men 😍. Your baby is so cute, so happy your birth experience turned out good 😊

I had the same experience with the doctor's telling me my baby could die if I didn't come in to be induced. I understand their job is to avoid as many risks as possible, but I felt like it was very insensitive. I ended up going in to be induced but I wish I could have had the experience of labor starting naturally.

Its very difficult to be happy for someone who had easy pregnancy and easy birth when I’m going through difficult pregnancy. But its nice to hear positive things about birth, because its one of my biggest fears. People always thought i fake my period pain, but it really feels like dying. So thinking about giving birth makes me even more anxious. 🤦‍♀️

I’m sorry you have such difficulties. I had horrid periods before I started having kids and then I discovered the Wellness Mama blog and dr Chris Kressor website and learned a lot about nutrition and sleep and taking care of myself. My three birthing stories have been pretty positive ones. Practicing trust in God and relaxing the body helps a lot.

O wow my pregnancy and birth experience was so similar! I had the opposite during pregnancy - measuring huge and very high fluid levels and last minute the midwives convinced me to induce. I was going for as natural/unmedicated of a birth as possible so this threw me off. My induction was very similar with how things didnt get intense/painful until the last 2 hours which was amazing because I was thinking if it goes on much longer ill need the epidural lol. They almost sent me home because in 6 hrs i only went from 2cm to 4cm, but then later on I progressed from 5cm to 10cm in 3-4 hours, the active labour portion happened so quick.. i felt nothing during those initial cm's of dilation!

Awesome story. I'm happy that everything went well. My daughters birth went well as well. I had just gone to my dr's appointment, which was supposed to be the last before birth, but I went home that night and whilst sleeping, I felt her kick and heard a slight pop and my water broke. I alerted my husband who also got up and we went to the hospital at around 3am. The water kept trickling out of me so my husband had to put a trash bag and a towel on the seat. We were admitted and I wasn't dilating and didn't feel any contractions, so they induced me. After that everything went quickly. I did need an epidural though, because Johanna's heart beat would lesson through each contraction and I felt like I was going to faint the pain was so bad. We made it through it, but she was jaundice so we had to take home a blue light and bath her in it for the recommended time. I wasn't nervous at all. I felt in my heart that if God had given me this wonderful opportunity, that he would see me through it. I have always wanted children, but couldn't. Then, at 43 I became pregnant for the first time ever and she came out at 6lbs. I was fortunate. And feel blessed. I thank God every day for the blessing of being a Mom to a healthy, smart girl.

Wow. I expected it to be painful, yes, but so doable. I was so confident going into it. Then I basically had the birth you were terrified of, and got no break between contractions. It was at that incredibly painful stage at 8 cm and then stopped there for 8 hours, not progressing at all. It was so traumatic, and I almost had a C-section. Last minute, after the spinal block was in, they checked me and I was fully dilated. I had my son right there on the OR table. Now, looking back, I should have not let them break my water, and I also should have just gotten the epidural once it was that bad. My body got so tensed up I ended up only dilating once I had a whole spinal block anyway! Now I'm so nervous to have a second child, but I think I'll know to not pressure myself to go without pain meds the way I did the first time.

Yes, it is true- the pain can be so painful, but once you see that baby, the memory goes away. And you never forget about your labor story, even 14 years later. The short version of my labor story- I was a few days over due, went in for an appt, and said if I didn't have him soon, to come in that next Tues morning (but to call that morning first to make sure there was bed) so went in at 6, husband and I were both sick the night before. Got induced at 7 am, labored all day, dilated to a 9 but couldn't go any further. Had a epidural but had major cramping. Finally dr said to just have a C-Section, by this point I was ready for the cramping to stop. So had the C-Section and my healthy boy was born at 7:47 pm, weighed 7.5 When he came out, he let out one little cry then just looked at everyone.

Way too much medical intervention. This is why I stay out of drs and hospitals. Stress free and healthy being away from the drama. Glad you were both fine! I have been told also that I would die if I didnt follow the drs orders, and here I am! My God is awesome and He decides. Not any dr.

Why would you have to wait for a doctor to deliver the baby? I thought midwives would do all of that and doctors only involved if there is an issue? Just can't believe someone is told to wait to push for the doctor!
@MeganFoxUnlocked
@MeganFoxUnlocked 4 года назад
I know! I was not impressed. And it was a midwife. Sorry not dr. The nurses didn't want me to push until she was available.
@nursekate6772
@nursekate6772 Год назад
Part of the reason the nurses may have people wait for the doctor is that SOME insurance companies deduct the doctor fees if a nurse delivers. As a former OB Delivery nurse, we encountered this on several occasions. Also, MOST labor/delivery nurses CAN deliver in an emergency situation. First hand experience. 😁

So Megan you know these kinds of births are not common, right????? I can say because Im a mother/ baby unit RN, and believe me all kinds of things happen. We even had moms giving birth in the entrance parking lot!!!!!! OMG so unpredictable. My daughter is about 5-2 and her baby weighed 9lbs, wow he was huge It is not healthy to leave babies in the womb over 40 weeks, the placenta starts to deteriorate and then circulation to the baby starts to be impaired, yes it can result in death. All of this is unpredictable and you can never know for sure. Doctors must be prepared for anything and they want to deliver a live baby instead of a dead one which I saw happen quite a few times. It is horrible.
